Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

I feel like the more realistic the graphics, the more criticism there is for the story of a RE game. Imagine if Leon punched boulders Chris style. These games have always been goofy. But I love them.
It's not about to be goofy. It's try to build a more "complex" story ending to distort even some gameplay sequence just to integrate the narrative and completely fail to give a proper consistency and continuity for the whole game. It's literally in front of your eyes the whole time. That's just bad and rushed design direction. Previous RE where quite smart to keep separate the narrative to the gameplay also the story was serviceable to the gameplay design and not the contrary. I know to sound repetitive but this is mine main criticism and the major letdown about this sequel.

And yet, Grace can one shot them and you dont even need to be intelligent, if you are intelligent you can kill two or more with one single bottle of acid.

She is more op then Leon when handling lickers and thats is a fact, there is no "avoiding" lickers as Grace, you just kill them on the spot.

Nah, you forget about stacked grenades and I had enough by the end of the game to take out that full room of lickers with two and still had plenty left over for the final boss.

It isn't about the realism of the graphics. There is a very distinct difference to how the stories were told in the 1st three games and Outbreak(although it's a little wild here and there) and the shit they started with Code Veronica and Weskers's report. The series used to be about actual people with reasonable motivations. Now it's super hero sci-fi fantasy with ridiculous motivations where they do whatever coked out thing they want and rationalize it in the end with "Umbrella did it".

I do agree and I actually hated RE 4 because it got too anime for me with the suplexes, flips, the day light, the crazy villagers instead of zombies, etc. But I did give it another chance with the Remake and had a blast because at this point I quit taking the story and certain elements so seriously. It's been over the top since 4 and I don't see 9 as being anywhere near as crazy as the last two games. If anything 8 is the craziest with the magneto character who turns into a transformer. Again, I am not taking this series so seriously anymore and I love it. Can't wait for 10 or whichever Remake is next.

Okay, I think I'm done for now...finished every challenge on Switch 2 version. I still wish Nintendo had a trophy/achievement thing. These challenges are obviously just the same thing as they would be on other platforms, except it's not registered on any central account system, which kinda defeats the point to me. You want to show off on your profile, that's the point. Least always seemed like it to me.

Just got to the second half of the game. Gotta be honest, it's pretty rough on Switch 2 compared to the Care Center.

RE9's problem is less about the silliness but more about just how badly put together it is. I've also stopped caring about the story so RE9's nonsense is whatever at this point but the fact they they mishandled the return to Raccoon City so badly and pissed away alot of potentially interesting ideas just to add some shitty retcons is what annoys me about it. If they aren't going to treat the tragedy of Raccoon City and the original games with any gravitas or respect than just leave them the hell alone.

Game is still a lot fun, especially the first half, just frustrating which is hell of a lot more than I can say about RE7, RE8, or REmake 3.

Anyone else feel the weapon damage on Leon's gameplay is completely off?

Doing a second run on Insanity and it can take about 4 shotgun head shots to kill a zombie and the pistol is completely useless accept against 1 on 1 zombie encounters.

Insanity is exactly what it sounds like. I've had normal zombies tank an upgraded Requiem shot.

Havent replied here yet because I want to avoid spoilers but Ive put a couple of hours in and got to the basement. Im enjoying it but man do the Leon chapters feel short so far. I want to blast them zombies

I know the modder personally, Albert. He is from Spain too. Great guy and very talented. He did an amazing job with that mod

He is working for nightdive studio now btw

yeah bro cooked... and damn that's good for him. I guess his mod got him big fame and a cushy job? that's pretty great.

Almost like it's Insanity...
Sure but I felt it was a little bit like that on Standard.

I've fully upgraded the body armour and it's not even that hard just a bit tedious.

In Re4 your weapons were alot more powerful but had less ammo so you had to be tactical and the pistol was super useful for Stunning enemies or precision shots.

Here your showered with ammo then Capcom suddenly remembered they had to make the game challenging so gave the enemies way more health.

It's fun enough but a big step back from RE4 remake.

Shout out to Capcom for releasing an AAA game that was relatively bug free at launch, no major hiccups, no major issues that needed to be ironed out via day 1 patches.

It's a rarity these days.

Finished my casual/no heal/no blood run for points today, unlocked infinite ammo, and started Insanity out of curiosity. I do not enjoy it by any measure, and it's somehow less enjoyable than 3R's Inferno mode. Ridiculous difficulty multipliers encourage infinite ammo, so credit to those of you that stuck it out. This is not my sort of challenge or my idea of fun. And with infinite ammo on I'm running through blasting everything with a magnum, watching things get back up, and wondering why I'm bothering doing any of it.

Can someone do me a favour and remind me of this post when RE10 releases and I'm tempted to get day 1? Because it really wasn't worth me spending whatever money I did just to be done with it after 2 playthroughs. I guess I'll be back for patched in modes or DLC, but as far as the main game is concerned I'm entirely finished with it. And that's with the mods to speed up running (1.1x for me) and to skip the intro and a spoiler section.

I'm moving 4R above 9 in my ranking because it had FAR more replayability despite its core shortcomings. Truth be told 9 is fighting with 3 for last place, and 3R did have more fun to its core gameplay than this. You know what, I've decided. Updated ranking:

2, 7, 8, 4, 3, 9.

Source so you can actually read some of the smaller words (I'm guess GAF images shrinks):

Performance can be insanely bad in different spots even in some of the Care Center unfortunately (the first encounter with the chainsaw but also some corridor when some enemy reach a particular point where he wasn't at the beginning or leaving a dead body with different blood stains in the surface). Honestly not seems that well optimzed on handheld mode at least.

I don't have a rating for each RE game I've played. I will say I had moments with Requiem of wtf, and holy shit and a few dude why am I doing this.. Some of the fillers just didn't sit right with me and I rushed through them. overall finished in 11hrs and loved the ending of it.

With the steroids for weapon DMG on Grace it's 2-4 head shots. With Leon this game is about parrying. Headshot, parry, axe finisher.

Probably because you haven't seen their raytracing in action or played the Switch 2 version.

That just makes it sound like the base PS5/SX experience is the best, with no RT or Switch 2 type issues, lol.
On PC I played around with RT for a bit, but the game looks great without it so I enjoyed locked 144fps 1440p native without maxing out my PC.

RT means lower cap or framegen, and framegen isn't as smooth (at least on Linux with AMD).

Don't get me wrong, I think the game is really good, but I would have much preferred if the Grace and Leon parts were two separate campaigns entirely. Grace sections are definitely the highlight, and I wish there were more of it. Leon stuff feels off to me and I can't quite pinpoint exactly why I feel that why. What I can say is that RE4 was better than the Leon parts in this in every way.

The controls for Leon feel slightly sluggish compared to RE4R. I don't know if it's by design or just the difference between the two dev teams, but I feel like the reaction timing is off. Fortunately, the RE4R team is working on the Code Veronica Remake, so I'm hopeful its gameplay will feel more normal.

This is my issue the series.

It completely abandoned any weight the characters or narrative of the original trilogy held in favor of some B-movie action style supernatural slop, where these same characters seem like entirely different people altogether.

I'm enjoying my time with RE9, because it's a good game, but it's a shitty Resident Evil game.

You can play it in the 120fps mode with the same setting of base console on ps5 pro and let's not talk of the pc version. So no I wouldn't say the base console offers exactly the best experience 😬 not sure why are you so obsessed to repeat this bizzarre convinction.

Just finished it. Went through it as 'intended', i.e. 3rd person Leon and 1st person Grace. Enjoyed it a lot, although Leon's sections were more up my alley. I found Grace's sections pretty damn terrifying.. I'm way too much of a chicken for that stuff. But I can appreciate that they were well designed, and I do enjoy the puzzles.

I liked a lot of the characters/story and the switching between Grace and Leon was well done. It was a lot of fun to explore the same area as Leon after Grace had already been snooping around imo.

Probably around an 8.5/10 from me. I'll do a second playthrough with full-on 3rd person view for Grace as well, maybe that'll bump it up.

I hope when the DLC drops they will give the option to 'skip' some of the heavily scripted story areas such as the orphanage and the hotel introduction. The mods that take them out massively improve replayability.

Does anyone know which documents are they most skippable?

Im missing 4 and have no idea where to looks.

just started the game and I'm already lost
I wish that deluxe edition will give you a master key so you can skip all the grace stuff and get to the Leon fun
one positive thing though I did put her in her film Noir outfit so she looks a lot hotter

Mods that adds enemies, disabled the intro and the orphanage. 2-4 headshots pop heads(pistol, rifle is 1), replaced the Porsche with a Warthog, RPD uniform for Grace, Master Chief over Leon, Fog in Raccoon City plus more police zombies and lickers. Faster movement speed, faster weapon swapping, quickstep to dodge enemies, and more I am forgetting.

After this less than 4 hour/ no heal run I will try Insanity with these mods. I love PC gaming.

I started RE 7 again. It's crazy how many call backs to that game are in RE9. The chainsaw, the axe, the girl in a prison, combining whatever is in the yellow bags with other ingredients to make bullets and healing items, sneaking around while being stalked, cutting through a bar with a chainsaw. Chainsaw vs. chainsaw battle. Ancient coins with prizes. The newspaper article published by Alyssa Ashcroft ref missing people in 2016, etc. It's awesome.

There's one before the fight with the spider, on the floor in the street, you can go back to the place a bit later from raccoon city as there's a bsaa container nearby.

Agree on the orphanage skip and/or make it a cutscene. Also understand the people that want to skip the intro, even though I'm ok with it. It's such a cool intro, the atmosphere is amazing.

It is awesome but I'm on playthrough 6. Platinumed it, now I'm getting all achievements on PC. It was great the first 3x.
