Resident Evil Requiem |OT| Through the Darkness

yeah he hates himself because he's playing a game he enjoys

Oh My God Omg GIF by MOODMAN

6? Jesus kid, do you hate yourself ?

I got all achievements in 3, the retarded one i just used a mod.
I stand by my statement that doing platinum runs can ruin even the best of games.

If a plat takes more than 2 runs I tend to just nope out these days even if it's a game I really like, in fact especially that, because I don't want to tarnish them by overplay

The reason I dont platinum RE games because most all of them have speed run trophy which I dont like to do.

I like hard difficulty challenge but I dont like speed run in any game, I dont find it fun to rush through games.

yeah agree. I ragequit the RE2 remake cause I realised about 3/4 of the way through I had gimped my run by forgetting to grab some ammo. had to loop back by maybe 15 minutes and that was it.

Yeah, RE9 platinum tarnished the game for me, it was a solid 8 after the first time, by the plat i ended at 7.

RE2 plat was more fun since the fast runs are just under 2 hours, so it doesnt take to long to plat.

I m going for the RE4Re plat now and that one ll be a nightmare, i ll take a week off before coming back to finish.

The same with me in every game, speed or one life/hit or some stupid hard run achievements takes the fun out for me.

Like I wanted to plat RE 1 Remake, but that invisible enemies thing is just idiotic, fuck that. I don't mind harder difficulties, something creative, but some are just unfun af.

But as Nocty said, achievements in general I think ruined games a bit.

I'll never understand how anyone finds speed runs fun. I've never attempted one and don't plan to.

3rd plathrough was my attempt to beat it under 4 hours for the trophy and I managed a 2 hours 29 minutes run. I definitely see where I could save at least 10 mins of time, but thats about as good as I can do I believe.

I mean .. you don't do speed runs for your first time through the game. You do it once you've comfortably mastered other things about it.

Im gonna try the speed run but totally use a guide for it, step by step. I got that and insanity left to do, after clearing the last run (on casual) with no healing and no blood collecting. Plus the final step for the Final Puzzle. Total of 90k points, so I unlocked unlimited ammo, and the RPG with unlimited ammo. Should make things a bit simpler, and not worry about ammo. Also bought the kotetsu knife for Grace. It was easy on casual mode, up until the ARK in the laboratory with lickers and the white zombies roaming the hallways. Didnt have a lot of ammo for Grace, and relied on getting around with bottles and stealth for a while.

Does anyone know which documents are they most skippable?

Im missing 4 and have no idea where to looks.

There is one file in the first coffin that you come across in the orphanage, a toe tag. I picked it up the first time, but you also have to click on it for it to register which isnt obvious because you can read the text on the tag without having it spelled out.

Another was the dishwashers note in Leons part in the clinic, which I ran past earlier. Its one of those cupboards you have to use the hatchet on, in the hallway between the second floor bar and the office with the first puzzle box.

Otherwise I used this guide to make notes on when I had to stop next and look for a missing file, in the next game.

I also got all achievements in RE3 Remake on two platforms. That was a great speed run game with no Sherry like parts and an awesome dodge. I have added a dodge to this one and skipped the slow parts, added enemies, improved move speed and much more. The game is awesome for speed runs now.

i think you shouldn't be having problem with denoiser when PT is active, it isnt film grain ?
i disabled film grain thru mod, i switched between preset D & E for ray reconstruction & E while stable is blurrier than D which is sharp but has so much boiling everywhere.

can you link the dodge mod? Is there a kick anytime mod for RE9?

I'm currently playing. Just search quickstep on Nexus when you're in the RE9 page. It isn't literally a dodge, but if you have you game set to walk as default and run as a hold(I have run on RB) you effectively have a quickstep that boosts your movement at the beginning and gives you iframes that you can tweak to your liking.

Resident Evil is the series that popularized speedruns! Ever since the original game there have been rewards for beating the game quickly. I remember how hyped I was to finally unlock the infinite rocket launcher in RE2 when I was a kid :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Yeah, the core gameplay of the original games was designed around proper inventory management, optimal pathfinding and juking enemies to minimize ammo usage and backtracking. Obviously not for everybody but it was a ton of fun if you were into it. It's why I like RE0's gameplay so much because it gives you so many more decisions to make.

I'm running this at 1440p with path tracing, is it possible to disable Capcom's denoiser with REFramework?
Not sure if my issues would be classified in the same category as yours, so apologies if I am wrong, but when I first played the games opening hour or 2, I noticed very brief random white outlines on characters, shadows looking like they had a rain effect on them and when I use a light on them (e.g a table under some stairs) the texture would pop in slowly in like 3 or 4 stages, plus other weird visual hiccups.

Before I went to play it again I used DLSS Swapper and update all the DLSS files (upscaler, frame gen etc) to the current latest version and never had an issue after that. I played in 32:9 5120x1440p, so not sure of it was an Ultrawide issue, a DLSS issue, or even both.

Are you playing with RT or PT?

my wife finished the game, her first resident evil ever, after 15 hours (playing on the easiest settings)

her thoughts were very different to mine.. she considers it the best horror experience she has ever had both gaming and movies. Quite surprised me, shes a big horror buff

Her skipping the entirity of horror videogames up until this point going in it must be a lot better than it feels for me having played everything before it, I guess?

I trolled her for having terrible taste but thinking about it, the medium as a whole for a first time player must be quite something .. suppose we may take it for granted.

I was using PT, Frame Gen 2X, DLSS Quality or Balanced (actually forget which right now), most if not all high settings, and HDR. I had stuff like motiom blur and depth of field switched off too.

I only installed mods on my 2nd run, like removing the film grain, skipping certain areas etc

Yes so the problems you are describing are normal when using PT, which is why we need a new model for Ray Reconstruction ASAP. That being said, Frame Gen will make the problems you have even worse. It adds more ghosting and visual noise. I dont recommend using it

By the way, I noticed in my second playthrough something that I haven't seen anyone mentioning. When aiming with a weapon, if you press L2 and R2 at the same time, Leon will aim like John Wick. You can do it all the time unlike RE4 Remake which only happens when an enemy is very close. Give it a try, it looks really cool

Dont let her play VR 7 :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I've come to the conclusion that the Leon sections felt a tad tacked on. I think when they centered the story around Leon and decided they couldn't have him in Grace's section, they built out Graces part but never fleshed out Leon's new locations in RC. 😔

But that is what I mentioned too, the issues I had all went away once I updated the DLSS stuff in DLSS Swapper. I have, of course, in other games had issues with funky broken effects due DLSS or frame gen etc, so I understand completely what you are saying, but on this occasion, manually updating them fixed it.

(I actually only installed DLSS Swapper recently after the nVidia App updated and changed how they present DLSS types)

That is not possible because when you use pathtracing, the game overrides DLSS with his own version. So what you experienced its placebo. There is no way to use a specific version of DLSS when using Path tracing in this game

Your wife wants to fuck Leon.

Just made it underneath the hospital after Leon John Wick'd the Care Center....I get RE2 remake sewer vibes from this place aside from dealing with that big bitch haha.

Well, I don't know what happened then. I changed the files, booted up, and the issues were gone. The game didn't have any updates during that time either. Maybe a simple reload of the game fixed it if not the files, but on second game boot, the issues were gone so I was happy either way.

These are dynamic animations based on when you start shooting, there's more than 1. There's also a "dodge" animation if you move away from an attack at the last second.

Honestly makes sense to me. You have to thank someone who's not played this type of game at all, the visuals are pretty excellent and it could be a visceral experience for them. Especially if what they're used to is Pokemon and other such games. Playing these games for decades of course will give us a different impression of it and she has no point of reference for the rest of the series for example much less other horror games.

i just started it this morning at 4 am. and there's some stuff that seems so stupid, When started with Grace she behaves like a school amateurish girl at the hotel, she's shivering and trembling, and she also is carrying her own personal gun instead of her service gun and it's also packed in her back pack instead of a holster. I didn't like the first person view. Also the guy that looks like is decomposing alive Victor mentioned that Grace is the chosen one and that made me roll my eyes. I guess that capcom cannot avoid have cheesy dialogue and their attention to detail is not that great, I mention this because Grace mom supposedly is coming from the street and she is dry and it's raining outside. Then i played with Leon and the gameplay is kind of confusing but good. i will play some more later today and during the week. but the first impression is not good.

we talked about it quite a bit. She did see me playing bits and pieces of Village when it came out but doesn't remember a thing, I think she caught maybe 10 minutes of the intro. She has only really been getting into gaming this past 2 years, back then she was completely indifferent to it as a medium for horror. I tried quite a few times to explain horror is really good in games, took me a while to get her to try it out.

Now she wants to go back and give Village a shot since she likes the setting / sound of it more than than 7 and 4.
