both of his fights are laughable and Leon's parry just make everything even more easy, there is no good boss fight in the game, that's the truth.Is it fair to say Gideon is one of the worst final bosses in the mainline games? His moveset is so basic, there's barely any challenge to him, and his design is just boring. His final Nemesis form is just an easier and quicker version of the final boss in RE3R.
I liked Cronos a lot, played 2 times, a default one and then the hard mode, but the game isn't without its problems. It has interesting ideas that aren't fully explored and the same as Req an underwhelming final boss and area.I decided to give Cronos a try. It's definitely a better horror experience then RE9 with just the first hour. Atmosphere and surrealism is great and it has the same kind of intrigue the likes of Signalis has. The intrigue of the setting is drawing me in.
And I'm finding it just has enough resources on the Normal difficulty to raise the tension of whether I want ammunition or HP restoring items. And that the choice at least initially so far might determine whether you make it or break it.
I think the thing that might impress me the most is that Cronos looks very good and is only 22 GB...compared to RE9's massive 76 GB.
It definitely has a similar feel to Bloober's previous game Silent Hill 2 Remake and to be honest I am preferring both over RE9.
I'll have to see if anything reaches the Horror experience of Toluca Prison. Because that was a place I just wanted to escape from since it was a horrifying place to be in with the lighting, loud sounds and palpable dread. Perfectly executed level.
Should not have slept on it and dismissed it as just another Walking Sim. Crow administered.
Giallo Corsa While not your intention thank you for indirectly convincing me to try it out. Worth.
He feels completely tacked on at the last minute. And yeah it has to be either him or RE7's.Is it fair to say Gideon is one of the worst final bosses in the mainline games? Oof, yeah. That was a bad one.He feels completely tacked on at the last minute. And yeah it has to be either him or RE7's.
Thank you for the recommendation. It has the demo, so I'll be giving that a go.You know what's even worse ?
That another very good survival horror game, Cronos the new dawn, almost went unnoticed last year...
A game with A) a better and more cohesive art direction (there's no raccoon City PS3 late gen levels of awfulness/untextured brown and grey stuff in it like in this multi-million dollar production), B) better, more consistent game/level flow, C) better atmosphere and D) a story which is actually interesting and lends itself to actual discussion unlike this horrible retconned Bmovie porn levels of shit that people are putting way more thought into it than they should.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed RE9 very much but... It feels so disjointed at some points, so ugly (Raccoon City) and so slow mainly due to the unskippable walking sections (hotel/orphanage) that I just don't have neither the will nor the courage to do another playthrough compared to Cronos where I played it three times back to back.
90€ NOT well spent (got the deluxe edition unfortunately).
It just goes to show that brand recognition can really get you this far - and I say this as a big resident evil fan...
Can you explain what the downgrade was?Village was really good, the downgrade is massive.
Can you explain what the downgrade was?
Thanks
I completely disagree with all that outside of maybe pacing and even then well-paced garbage is still just garbage.Worst art style, characters, bosses and village has better pacing not a downhill until the end.
Village has.I completely disagree with all that outside of maybe pacing and even then well-paced garbage is still just garbage.
I started playing RE8 and it's indeed better. The game is a straigh up action-adventure (except for the prologue)Village has.
* better level design
* better boss fights (it has boss fights )
* better pacing
* better puzzles
* better moment to moment gameplay
* better upgrade system
* better exploration
* better protagonist
* better endgame content.
Ppl may not lile Village or Ethan, but the game is in fact way superior than RE9, like you said, its better to have a "overall bettter garbage" then "pure garbage"
I agree. Bosses in this game have felt rote, just like everything else that is Leon. It's serviceably-enough going through the motions to satisfy a checklist of what RE games are supposed to have and there'a a joylessness to it all in my opinion. I said it before but it just feels like a tired, bored remix like when classic bands hype a "back to the roots" album. I know this criticism veers into that nebulous muh soul & spirit realm but oh well, that's the vibe everything after the care center gives off.both of his fights are laughable and Leon's parry just make everything even more easy, there is no good boss fight in the game, that's the truth.
As much as I hate Ethan and the supernatural elements present in Village, I'm inclined to agree with you. Many of these aspects are just fundamentally better as presented in Village which is really unfortunate.Village has.

supernatural elements ? everything is explained by the evolutionary traits of the Kadou and the level of compatibility of the host, there is no supernatural elements per say, but i get you.As much as I hate Ethan and the supernatural elements present in Village, I'm inclined to agree with you. I don't understand why they can't just bring all of the good New Game Plus mechanics into all of the games, why every other game has to have a shittier New Game Plus then something that came before it for example. Some of these RE engine titles have awesome new game plus features and others are just s***.
Resident Evil has only ever really done that with Outbreak sadly and oddly enough a little bit in Resident Evil 6 of all things. I thought when they revealed Alyssa we might have been going that way but of course Capcom gonna Capcom.Would have been better if they focused on the human side of the story instead of the more convoluted Umbrella junk.
They did Emily dirty. It's one thing to turn into an unholy abomination but a post-quinceañera Dad Shit is crazy![]()
The Emily monster is very similar to the baby monster from Village, just more toothy.
'that's a vagina dentata!'...
Alright, thats enough internet for me today.

Would make sense, Nakanishi has become pretty vocal about acknowledging that it's what people have been most vocal about.According to the other place, info about the DLC leaked… it supposedly will feature Ada

I don't know anything about this Cronos, but keeps popping up I'm going to have to check it out for sure.

now i ll have to give this game a try, ll wait for a sale and get it.
Thank you for the recommendation. It has the demo, so I'll be giving that a go.
I tried the demo and performance is abysmall, but now i ll waste some hours at crimson desert.Sale's up fellas. 30% off.
If you already own Silent Hill 2 make sure you buy Cronos from its actual store page and not your wishlist.
There's a bundle option where you can get it for even cheaper.
ThanksGiallo Corsa for the recommendation.
good thing she has an injector that one shots nearly everything when you actually need to kill somethingThe enemies are too bullet sponges
Of all the things to criticize the difficulty is NOT one of them.Kinda early in the game here. Killed the fat guy and the butcher. Need one quartz to move on
I'm thinking the difficulty of Grace is broken. The enemies are too bullet sponges, there's just a few places that you can rush from them, and the lack of ammo makes unfair in comparison with Leon. Of course it is to approach more of original RE, but from time to time there's a bunch of zombies with different abilities while the original has a great pace and not much enemies
Not hating, but for now, I'm sure is the weakest of the trilogy
And you are a spectator for most of it. Kinda surprised you are giving it a pass.lol i legit wanted to stand up and applaud. So fucking ridiculous, but so cool.

For all the criticism people level at games like Uncharted, this is one section where the player doesn't have much control. We're not pulling off any of the stunts, Leon is. It is meant to be a flashy gameplay segment and that is all that it is lol. Goes to show how nit-picky people can be sometimes.Tanky zombies in the second half felt a bit crappy to fight against compared to the billiant strategic warfare in RE4R, but riding a motorcycle up the side of a collapsed building kind of makes up for it. My jaw hit the floor when Leon got his head blown off in the fake ending. Heavy MGS influences all around in this game, from the stealthy Rhoades Hill section to RC having that MGS4 feeling, complete with dying protag. Glad Leon was able to survive Foxdie. All said and done, another solid entry in the franchise, but doesn't quite hit the highs of RE4R. Path tracing delivered some incredible visuals, but I'm still holding out hope for a PSVR2 version.
I camped RE9 speedrun community and got some fantastic tips for crushing the game quickly. Especially during Care Center Grace, getting the fuse has never been easier.Of all the things to criticize the difficulty is NOT one of them.
EDIT: Actually it is. It was too easy.
The number of injections are way below the number of enemies, with Chunky and blister heads requiring, and if a room has more than one, you're fuckedgood thing she has an injector that one shots nearly everything when you actually need to kill something![]()
Leon was really easy, but with Grace there's no balance. That's the problemOf all the things to criticize the difficulty is NOT one of them.

There's more than enough to take out the high tier zombies (Chef, Chunk, Singers and the occasional Blister).The number of injections are way below the number of enemies, with Chunky and blister heads requiring, and if a room has more than one, you're fucked
Ok, but I also said -need-, you can easily avoid most enemies by just sneaking past; heck I probably could've killed many more since I finished the game with like ~70 bullets and ~10 injectorsThe number of injections are way below the number of enemies,
I'm without luck in this thingOk, but I also said -need-, you can easily avoid most enemies by just sneaking past; heck I probably could've killed many more since I finished the game with like ~70 bullets and ~10 injectors![]()
The first time in the piano room you can definitely sneak past them, or heck just run past; the singer walks a set route afterwards so you can just sneak up and inject her, and then juke the other 2 if you don't want to fight them.Other areas that are full, like the piano with a screamer and two or three more guys, it's a big fuck you if you combat them
The key to RE Engine titles is to shoot them in the leg to stun, not the head. Once you learn that, everything changes. Inferno is a ridiculous change to that with its 10% stun rate, but on balanced difficulties it will see you through.Kinda early in the game here. Killed the fat guy and the butcher. I strongly agree with this. My initial impression after finishing the game said it will either be seen as a good mix of styles or a confused one, and after burning out much more quickly on replays it's definitely a confused mix for me.It's not RE6, but it's a far cry from the much better new remakes. I got a decent amount of enjoyment out of the game, and don't regret the purchase at all, but ultimately I feel the game is a downgrade in many ways from the recent trajectory Capcom has been on with RE games.
There are too many sequences that truly suck on replays. The beginning hotel, the orphanage, the endless way-too-dark sequences. Too many times I groaned thinking "Ugh, not this part again." Leon's Racoon City segment is so fucking generic it hurts. Gray, as far as the eye can see. It was fun from a mechanics standpoint, who doesn't love shooting zombies, but visually it was super boring. The weapon selection was limited, and for most categories that was an obvious choice as to the best weapon, no tradeoffs, just one weapon clearly superior to the other. The upgrade track was just MEH as well. The bosses all felt like rehashes.
So, I had fun, but I'd say I have burnt out on it WAY faster than any of the previous 3 or 4 Resi games. To be clear, I still recommend it, but don't expect it to be as good as their recent offerings. It's an 8/10 at best, and if I'm being honest it's closer to a 7. Decent, but not great.
