This thread was a lot of fun but lets get serious now.

I picked 80-84 on the predicition, but i also said i wouldnt be at all surprised if it hit in the 70's. I think most of us knew for various reasons that it wasnt going to hit 90+.
Lets be thankfull that its still got a good score, with some reviewers singing its praises, including ACG who was gushing over the games exploration, which was always what i wanted from this game, the exploration.

If you like the game, buy it. Its certainly not like much we have seen before, and i feel its exploration will be something that many of us adore, and talk about for a long time.

I also feel that unlike what usually happens with a game, i feel the older this game gets, the better its going to be thought of. And i wouldnt even rule out at least a GOTY nomination for it by the time the end of the year comes. I think a few patches based on feedback will transform the way this game is viewed.
 
Those games are activist driven and you're the one playing stupid. Tell me how those games don't feature woke elements without looking like a brainlet.

I'm not saying they don't have identity politic-esque content but it's not the reason they're bad games in the way I'm describing, nor is it the reason they are reviewing better than CD. I'm worried about the aesthetics of the video game medium not whether I can jerk off to some cartoon boobs. Get out of your little internet cave.

And yes, the journalist jackasses you're licking the asses of do give lower scores for games that don't fit their "progressive" bingo card.

True, can't say I enjoyed the first hours of kcd2 that much, but it still ended up to be my goty.

Sme with RDR2 actually, the intro was a snooze fest and took me months to muster up the energy to get through. ..still ended up as my goty.

I wasn't expecting this game to be the next Witcher 2 or 3, or Elden Ring when it came to review scores or expect CD to be talked about for the next 10 or so years lol. I expected low to mid 80's and this isn't too far off the mark.

It seems like the game features a lot of exploration/puzzle elements which can be enticing to some, while others hate that shit. I personally don't mind the puzzle elements so long as they don't interfere with combat too much. Maybe they can patch in new skills or abilities that allow you to skip them or complete them faster, who knows.

Like I said leading up to this game's release, I wasn't expecting some genre defining masterpiece, but I'm definitely still going to buy it on Friday. Like other's have said, I take the opinions of "professional" reviewers as beneath worthless, but at least gamers seem to like it well enough.

I love it. I've been looking forward to this game since they announced it basically, so yeah, definitely not going to say "uh oh, I dodged a fucking bullet buying a 79 game".

Yea same here.. I'll reiterate something I said a few pages back about enthusiasts. It's not that I expect every gamer to play it I meant to say if someone has interest in a game I think as enthusiasts, tryin games were interested in is the ideal route. Like if someone hates mmos or doesn't like rpgs, then sure I understand if they say pass. But when I look forward to a game like this, there's no fucking chance I'd ever let a review away me especially when we're talking scores. I want to be just as they are doing and experience it myself.

Like marathon, I had a slight interest as it came closer to launch but the trial thankfully gave me what I needed. If there was no trial I would've probably bought it to experience it for myself given I had even a little interest.

But yea there's no way I'm passing to see what this game has to offer, how shallow if I did so.

exactly, look at the veilgard average in metacritic 82 https://www.metacritic.com/game/dragon-age-the-veilguard/... thats all you need to know. I dont trust game reviewers (big outlets at least) nor movie reviewers. I will still buy the crimson desert, it looks much more interesting than whatever the current western studios are releasing.

Big yes. Asian devs>>>>>>>Western activists. My entire upcoming AAA games I'm looking forward are all Japanese, Chinese, or South Korean.
 
Fightin' Cowboy explained at the end of his video that the devs were highly responsive in learning about bugs and other things that will get fixed that were mentioned in the review discord. One of the issues has been inventory and they mentioned that there will be a way to store items that don't necessarily need to be on your Character at all times. It will be addressed post launch.

Cool to know, thanks man. I hope those qol fixes come fast, no way I'm able to wait for any patch with all this hype.

That is my thoughts. If you get me a game I keep coming back to, it pays for itself. The bugs will eventually get fixed and honestly I've been waiting for this game and my excuse was performance on the pro which seems fine. This will keep me using the portal more like d4.
