Dude even before the agenda pushing of today, I stopped caring about reviews when they started streaming.Yea the way they all attack people now, and push all their agendas and bullshit I couldn't give a fuck if they all dropped over tomorrow, they're all trash.
User scores I think are a much better barometer and even then it's still not a great way to judge a game til you're in there
Yeah did watch it. It does sound like Dark Souls bosses. Three part boss fights taking him over an hour and still not beating them.Watch the ForceGaming video above. He explains a ton of systems. He pretty much explains that you have to prep for boss fights. This means working on your cooking skill to make meals and potions for buffs and healing, and also upgrading your gear (this game works by gear strength instead of character level), amongst other side content you can do to improve your character.
Also you can come back to challenge a boss later if you feel that you are too weak for it or if the fight is taking far too long. The bosses are essentially treated like gatekeepers (he didn't elaborate further but it sounds like enemies in the next area are harder so if you beat the boss then you can handle the next area's enemies).
Watched a few reviews on YouTube and the reception looks to be excellent.
Then I come on here and see people are talking nonsense because the mainstream that recommended crap like Veilguard are failing to connect with it.
Then I saw this comment from Fightincowboy and it all makes sense:

I don't think a game should require a major "commitment" before it starts to get fun. If what was said in that review is accurate it actually makes sense why the game got low scores. This is the best endorsement for a game I've ever seen.
Imagine giving a shit about Metacritic score lol
Hearing this is not an easy games makes me actually even more excited haha
also LOL at those "Journalists" not even knowing how to play games without tutorials anymore. They should be ashamed.
I read somewhere they are going to be patched with the first patch already. PA took all the feedback from the reviewers and immediately went to work.I suspect that some of the bosses are over-tuned and will be sorted out in patching.
I saw it and a few on here as well that it looked janky as hell, yet we had the other crowd who convinced themselves it was going to be the next RDR2Anyway it's using some decent tech so the graphics thread will get some nice screenshots.

What exactly did I make up? Maybe read the thread and subreddit before commenting you hobbitWhen did this happen?
We making stuff up now?
Yeah if there is a story mode and not a lot of difficult combat challenge I'll be all over it. I'm the same boat that I don't have the reflexes / patience to fight the same fucking boss for hours on end only to end in defeat.I suspect that some of the bosses are over-tuned and will be sorted out in patching. But yeah this seems like not a game that you try to beeline the main story. As I'm an older gamer with 0 reflexes, my hope is that there is a path through the game where I can out gear bosses or that an easier mode is added. Everything else about this game is perfect for me, just need more info on if it's possible to reduce the challenge by exploring and better gear or if the game just completely locks you out of progressing without doing souls inspired crap. Hopefully you can unlock enough skills etc to do status effects and stun locks etc. In every rpg it should be possible to break the game and destroy the challenge by working out synergies etc. I hope that applies here also.
The other thing that gives me hope is that I get maybe an hour or two to play each night so the likelihood of bugs etc getting patched before I even come across them is high (this happened with BG3 and Rogue Trader - by time I got to the "unoptimised buggy" parts they were all fixed)
Also waiting on more ps5 footage - I'll probably go with pc version though but I would like to play on the couch in the living room with my boy (maybe a joint playthrough where I hand off the boss fights to him...)
The problem is that people imposed this reputation onto the game. It was going to have the world building of Red Dead, the story of the Witcher, combat of Elden Ring etc.Seen quite a fair few of these review threads over the years, and it's amazing how the exact same arguments get brought up over and over.
The game appears to be 7.5 or 8/10 overall. That's fine. A good game. Just not a genre defining one.
Should never pre order digital games.I gotta say I'm not surprised. With embargo lifting very late, just before release, is alwyas a red flag, proves this time as well. They exaclty knew how it will end up. Shady practices, luckily we just need to be patient and not fall into preorder hype, ever.
How do you explain high scores for Souls games, Elden Ring etc? They're not easy games, the difference is a top tier developer hones the experience for the players to become more challenging over the course of the game. Not throw everything at the player and overwhelm them from the beginning, that's bad game design.Yup reading reviews it seems that reviewers are even worse than they were 2-3 years ago. They openly complain they have to play game lol.
It's not major commitment before it gets fun but reviews doing jack shit as usual expecting to beat the game because they are reviewers and default difficulty should be beatable by journalist aka retard who doesn't play games mostly and likes to write instead.
I also find that really unfortunate. Back then, a 7/10 was considered a good game and an 8/10 was very good. Nowadays it often feels like a 7/10 is seen as trash, anything below 8.5/10 is just "meh" and games from certain developers are automatically labeled as either trash/overrated or masterpieces/criminally underrated gems, depending on people's preferred console.Seen quite a fair few of these review threads over the years, and it's amazing how the exact same arguments get brought up over and over.

What are you even talking about, I would like nothing more than this game being a 10 out of 10, Im not leaning on anything negative at all.
Wtf are u on about m8 have u taken ur pills today
There isnt anyone being rubbed the wrong way by this game, maybe its not for some but there isnt a 'hate force' for it like say Concord at all
Very reactive from what i saw\heard.Is anything being said about NPC reactivity to the player character? ACG didn't really go into detail about this. Other reviews? Is it similar to RDR2 (doubt that) or not at all?
Yeah, this is exactly what I'm looking for. A big sandbox I can chip away at and take my time with, and not really be too pressed about finishing it any time soon. It's what I enjoyed about BotW and Elden Ring. Just running around, discovering secrets, fighting bosses, solving puzzles.
I won't lie, the impressions of the story and the writing do make the world itself feel a bit shallow and generic from a narrative perspective, and that's a bit disappointing. But if the moment to moment gameplay and exploration are solid I can see myself committing 150+ hours to this.
Maybe it is time for you to move on from video games and watch Netflix instead.Quite disappointing, I have to admit.
What I wanted:
- a cool, big world to explore
- some hidden places to discover
- somewhat of a story (not Witcher level, but still)
- an easy mode/story mode, or some mode that didn't require days of grinding
What we got:
- janky controls
- an almost absent story
- Souls-like bosses
Even after hearing the bosses compared to Dark Souls, I have to puke in circles. Why create this huge, ambitious game and limit the experience to either super passionate gamers or mostly unemployed fat fucks who don't have kids, family, or friends and can sink a bazillion hours into a game? I guess the game being made by Koreans explains it quite well. Since they're dying out with the lowest birth rate on earth, the word "kids" is something they might have to look up on Wikipedia. Of course, they have unlimited time to waste on a game.
This is one of the rare cases where my hype turns into fucking hatred.

Unless i misunderstood what you are saying, Shadow of mordor enemies were tough because they had this bullshit system where they learn your moves and you cant use it anymore, quintessential definition of artificial challenge, you end up with some enemies where you can't use 8\10 of your arsenal, that is not challenge that feel good to fight against. If it's anything like I expect it'll probably be slicing through paper Pearl Abyss combat. But maybe I'll be surprised and it's Shadow of Mordor/War tier. ACG's review suggests for the most part that the trash mobs usually allow you to brute force through things without requiring using your full toolkit.
So 1v1s probably much easier but maybe some challenge if overwhelmed. But you can use the environment to your advantage. Such as using a river as a slow while you pelt them with arrows.
However bosses will be challenging and we will have to learn the bosses and their movesets.
What I can say I like is how it seems very LotR coded. 3 characters kinda mirroring the Aragorn/Legolas/Gimli trio. Given this is MMO company I expect more characters down the line. Hopefully a Mage character. Especially with the prospect of Mechs and Dragons already being a thing.
The characters are using aspects of some of the BDO classes. The Orc is very similar to the Berserker Class.
Yeah, some people here are actually begging for more woke trash....thats sad.Sorry this game wasn't made by some creatively bankrupt Western studio I guess.
Its a 200hrs+ game. 10hrs tutorial seems to be alright to me.- The tutorial basically lasts 10 hours to get everything working properly in the game.
