Can You Imagine What SureAI Is Going To Do With Garfield?
.... as someone who is actually enjoying real-time and some turn based (XCom like) strategy games.

This is a genre I never cared for and was probably my least favorite but after Dawn of War, Aliens Dark Descent, Halo Wars, and Warhammer Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, I'm actually really enjoying the genre now.

Halo Wars was my introduction and I had a blast. I actually enjoyed it more than most other Halo games.

So there it is. Please don't judge.

Oh yeah I'm also looking forward to Star Wars Zero Company.

It can't be true that it mixes this Mass Effect with XCom.

Oh my heart. I'm coming to see you, Elizabeth!

Mutant Year Zero is pretty great. Marvel Midnight Suns actual gameplay wasn't terrible once you got to the fights but the whole forced social nonsense in between fights was god awful so I didn't make it far into that.

Oh of course I also want to thank Warhammer 40,000 for opening me up as well. I've only been a fan for about 10 years but it really got me to appreciate strategy games.

Xenonaughts 2 just released and it is very good.

I was gonna make a Xenonauts post, but I see the lord's work is already done. I wanna play 2 so bad, and m waiting on Steambox pricing.

Op, iffin you want a taste of REAL Xcom, play Xenonauts. The 2K "revisions" are fine enough games, but I consider the original release to be superior.

Seriously tho, lol. Yes, turn based and rts games and especially Xcom, Triangle Strategy, FFTactics, and don't forget Owlcat games or games like BG3.

Turns are fun. Even if they are real time or hybrid. IMHO turns are fun and not a negative thing about a game. Even games with super simplified battle systems can benefit from good turn based combat. I think turn based has earned its place as a competitive combat system for many games.

Someone who actually enjoys games and doesn't complain about wokeness or engage in console wars? We don't want someone like that here, get out!

I was seriously considering about doing an old school console wars thread i.e. Nintendo vs Sega Master System.

When I was a kid I had a retail clerk from a well known toy store at the time (forgot the name but it was in a mall) told me how much the Nintendo sucks and that I should get a Sega Master System instead.

I've also found more and more of an appreciation for these genres over time, though there were always edge cases that I loved. There are a lot of great older games to dig through, and I've had a really good time doing just that.

That said, I don't think my tastes will ever broaden to include tower defense. That is an unforgivably boring strategy subgenre.
