That's going to be way too expensive for the general audience.Well the Xbox may have crashed these past few years, but Asha is looking to reboot it, so let's see...how does Project Helix fare..

Really?
List me 10 of these indie games released in the last year.
…. You have to be trolling, right?I don't get this. With credit cards, people can just buy gaming hardware using those. What's wrong with paying $100 monthly for 15 months for a device you will use for over 60 months.
Bad idea when these consumers are also putting weekly groceries on credit.I don't get this. With credit cards, people can just buy gaming hardware using those. What's wrong with paying $100 monthly for 15 months for a device you will use for over 60 months.
Literally the PS3 / 360 gen kicked this all off, the PS4 gen accelerated it, and then these studios did FUCK ALL to remedy it for the current gen.To think that Goldeneye was developed in about 2 and a half years with a 2m budget by around 12 people...
Where did it all turn to shit?
Asha is the Total Recall of reboots.Well the Xbox may have crashed these past few years, but Asha is looking to reboot it, so let's see...how does Project Helix fare..
The further I get from it the more I realize what a special game Dispatch was. Here is 20 instead:
Hollow Knight: Silksong
Schedule I
R.E.P.O
Slay the Spire 2
Abiotic Factor
Hades 2
Megabonk
PEAK
BAL x PIT
Windrose
Far Far West
Vampire Crawlers
Timberborn
Menace
Road to Vostok
Dispatch
Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon
Subnautica 2
The Alters
Monster Train 2
Easiest list of I've ever done since I've played and thoroughly enjoyed all of these games and plenty more that I haven't played and didn't include.
Even the free trash is starting to fall off. Epic had to lay off a lot of people because Fartnite is losing money. The real thing that caused the crash was too much trash at too high of prices.
Nowadays there's plenty of free trash. And it can be played on hardware you already own.
I don't think a $200 million budget is necessarily unsustainable. RDR2 had a budget of like $750 million and GTA6 is $2B. They'll be fine just for context.I think the gaming industry will reinvent itself before crashing. Things like $200+ million budgets are unsustainable and studios located in the US are the ones hurting the most as the cost of living and salaries are considerably higher than other locations. That is why Chinese and Korean games are coming with everything for that piece of the market, and it'll only get more prominent.

Game market only crashed in the USA. In Europe and everywhere else it was doing perfectly fine. America != WorldWell, is it time with the prices and everything else going bonkers? Will consumers speak with their wallets or have times changed where things will sell out regardless?
They released more games on the PS5 than Sony has in the last 12 months....so......Xbox already crashed.
Unrivaled Workforces: Studios would gain access to massive talent pools capable of throwing thousands of developers at a single project.
Live-Service Mastery: The industry's leading expertise in monetization and retention mechanics would become the global baseline.
Budget Optimization: Developers could take advantage of significantly lower development costs, as seen with hits like Black Myth: Wukong.
It's still the #1 played game last I checked. If that's dying then Asha is wishing Forza 6 ill health.Even the free trash is starting to fall off. Epic had to lay off a lot of people because Fartnite is losing money.
When that game is dying then what hope does anyone else have?
Tim Epic literally had to lay off a huge number of people and said explicitly that it's losing a lot of money. It's still the #1 played game last I checked. If that's dying then Asha is wishing Forza 6 ill health.

A game can be both popular and dying, I am not sure why people can't reason that.
Great, forces Sony to stop relying on this crutch of TimbucksYou do realise that if Fortnite dies that's a big blow to the PlayStation ecosystem, right?
Well if you want to define "dying" as you're still #1 but have less players than some peak number ~6 months ago then ok sure.Tim Epic literally had to lay off a huge number of people and said explicitly that it's losing a lot of money.

Are they actually losing money though, or are they just not seeing the growth they want. It's more often the case that they're only making tens of billions of dollars when they want to be making hundreds of billions of dollars. Layoffs become a convenient scapegoat for that. If they really cared about saving money they'd cut the parasites in the c suite.Tim Epic literally had to lay off a huge number of people and said explicitly that it's losing a lot of money.

Well the cash cow has to die someday. Though I still take anything these dudes say with massive piles of salt. Usually this shit is just cover for giving bonuses to the execs and an excuse to fire the workforce.actual quote
"We're spending significantly more than we're making"
You tell me
Maybe. I read somewhere that the player counts on this game are also down. COD was down big this year. A lot of live games have failed to launch to say the least.Well the cash cow has to die someday.
