What's wrong with the mask? In the comics, the mask has a purpose that will probably be kept on the movie. But other than that, it just goes with the character, Bane needs to have a mask, I see it that way.
Did the Joker really need to had green hair? Same thing.

My point was that thinking an actor is a poor choice for a role =/= thinking a prop looks silly, as the post I quoted was trying to say.
 
I can see the mask being a product of Dr. Crane and Hugo Strange. They might have taken him into Arkham to experiment with ''venom'' or whatever they'd call it.

he has complete immunity to pain? I don't know about that. I love him being resistant to pain, but if his villain is just that he can't feel pain, I don't think I'll be satisfied.

Damn, I can completely see them doing this. But
I can't see the league of shadows having some kid resistant to pain and NOT doing some kind of tests on him in some way.
 
Looks cool. I trust Nolan knows what he's doing. Maybe the mask has something to do with the fear toxin from BB. What the fuck were people expecting? This look is consistent with the low-key designs given to all Nolan's villains.

That's what I'm thinking too.
Maybe impervious to pain but Venom gives him super-strength. I would prefer just the lack of pain aspect though and cut out the Venom.

Either way Nolan seems to be doing what he does best.
 
so i'm guessing this means Bane's going to be involved in some of the location shooting. Should be getting front view leaked pics soon
 
In Nolan I trust.

The first pics for the other two movies were also underwhelming, but when it is actually on film it just worked.

It just looks strange, it's low-key and at the same time not really. Is that a skeleton hand covering his mouth or something? :P Truthfully I know very little about Bane(only from the cartoon and Arkham Asylum), I eagerly await more pictures/info to judge better. The Joker picture was amazing, this isn't.

Correct. Joker looked cool from day one. Not only do I think this looks hokey, but my bigger concern is the performance. Hard to give an expressive performance with your mouth covered. Anyways, will wait for trailer to see it in motion.
 
You know, I actually like this. I recall being a little underwhelmed by the initial Joker picture, but I loved the full reveal. I'm not in love with this by any means, but it's still recognizable as Bane, and it looks cool to me.

Bane will not have the mask on all of the time.
I say this A) because the comic Bane never needed it on all of the time, B) it does make the actor a bit less expressive and C) Darth Vader already did it.

You decided a conclusion to a trilogy with zero footage, no released plot, and one still of a villain in shadow is worth a rental.

I do see what people are saying about the covered mouth preventing a GREAT acting experience, but I'm assuming he won't keep it on at all times. I bet he'll put it on when he's in the mood to break some bones.

I mean we don't even know what the mask does yet. If he keeps it on then I doubt he's going to be anything more than a muscle villain.

You can only form opinions on what you've been given. The first shot has been released, some like it, some don't. All that to say: deal with it.

Yes, did the same with the first. I've never been a fan of the Ras Al-Ghul stories fuck they bored me I hated those episodes in the animated series too :/

Exactly. I think Bane looks fine here. Way better than the Bane in the abortion that was Batman & Robin.

I honestly meant no insult, I just found it funny. And it's hard to argue that basing entire opinions of a piece off of small and only slightly-related factors makes your opinion on the piece valid.
