Damn, the Jesse McCartney thing was crazy low.

JT slays Usher.

Eh, I can agree with that as a matter of personal preference. But Usher's had the most successful solo career, overall.

Robin Thicke's sexy white-chocolate ass slays them all though, as far as I'm concerned.

Yum, loves me some Thicke. It doesn't hurt that he's a passionate advocate for gay rights and is making some 100% guaranteed hot babies with the indomitable Paula Patton.

Jesus can they both go home?

This was how I felt. They were both horrible. Can't complain about Drew being gone, though. As I commented last night, she was getting boring.

So was Astro.

Let's face it: if you sing the same shit every week, regardless of whether it's MJ or rock week or whatever, America will yawn in your face.

The girl judges IMO ganged up on the girl performer out of cattiness, much like what was shown in audition episodes. When it comes to vocal uniqueness, Drew is great. Marcus keeps falling into the bottom and he should have left just based on his voting results of the past few weeks.

BUT Drew can't seem to show any diversity, so she wasn't about to win anyway. Which I don't think is Simon's fault. In fact, I think she threw Simon under the bus a little when she got all weepy and Jesus-ey and said that she really wanted to do upbeat stuff.

In the past, she talked about staying true to herself when criticized for off-tempo choices. Even in the goodbye clip, it showed Simon saying that she was guiding her own path and he was merely listening. When forced to do anything else (like in the show intros where everyone sings) she was terrible. But she was great at her folky, slow thing. Billie Jean... in ballad form? Who does that? Other than an artist who is afraid to touch anything in any other tempo... Even her elimination song was a ballad despite other judges flat out telling her to mix it up.

Still, Drew deserved to stay instead of Marcus and is probably in my top 3 overall (along with Melanie and Josh). How she left before Rachel Crow and Chris Rene is beyond me, but oh well. I think Melanie should win, though I'd be happy if Josh did too (he's pretty good vocally and has shown that he can actually play guitar/piano unlike other contestants).

Dat drama. Simon is right though, it's his fault for not developing and presenting her properly. But the judges clearly voted based on their opportunity to stick it to Simon. Kind of petty, but considering the way they've behaved once the voting rounds began I suppose it shouldn't be too surprising.

For all that Marcus gives in terms of effort, his vocals are never good and never will be good. They waver between mediocre and bad. For that reason alone he shouldn't have gotten the nod.

With marcus being down the 2nd time, should have went to deadlock. Those female judges voted for a whole other reason.

Maybe. But frankly both Paula and Nicole (and LA) have been telling Drew to mix it up, to step it up, that the slow weepy ballads were only going to take her so far. Some of that is undoubtedly Simon's fault. The problem is that when she picks up the beat she sounds screechy, so she stuck with the slow and weepy.

And they were right: that was only going to carry her so far.

Yeah, Marcus being there yet again probably means that America isn't connecting with him on any level. Being in the bottom for the first time could have been a wake-up call for Simon and Drew to change things up, but instead she was just sent packing and won't get the chance. Drew could've taken the right steps to gain more votes, but what can Marcus do? He has no surprises for us.

It's like the show is now all about these bored rich judges playing a game with contestants as pawns for the win, all trying to one-up the big kid on the block Simon.

In other words, we need Mariah next season to bring some class to the proceedings.

Just watched the final 10 minutes. Wow at the death stare by Simon at the end. Looks like three new judges next season.

Marcus over Drew is absolutely insane.

Who's voting for Chris Rene, really

WuAJw.jpg

Just watched the last 10 minutes, man Steve Jones is one unemotional douchebag. I can't remember the last time I've wanted to kick someone in the face so hard.

Also damn Drew was a wreck, I feel sorry for her.

Yeah that was pretty dramatic. Simon looked fucking PISSED, I'm sure Paula will be getting some shit about the final vote that doomed Drew. I felt bad for her too.

Yeah, I was expecting to eat a whole bowl of popcorn watching the tears, but she seemed genuinely shaken.

Anyhow, tonight's results really were fantastic. The possibility that either Josh or Melanie will win have increased enormously, as they should.

I'm glad Drew went home. She was a one-trick pony in a stable of race horses. Maybe if she didn't do a ballad every single time she picked up a mic, she'd stay? Or maybe if that happened, America would have found out long ago how truly without talent she is.

The drama between the judges is just tiresome at this point. Must we all be reminded each time they open their mouths how much they "love" each contestant?

And the poor host. I'm sure he's getting it from all directions. People yell in his ear the whole show to keep things moving or else they'll run out of time. So he tries to get the judges to stop being so long-winded, and they yell at him too. Then there's this shit on live shows with the people grabbing him mic from him or refusing to talk to him when he asks a question.

This show is starting to make me miss American Idol and that's pretty bad because I've hated Idol the last couple of seasons.

Edit: Also, I love that Drew's final words were about "Jesus" being the only reason she came on the show. Way to play that close to the chest girl! Now that you're a loser, the whole world can see the power of the lord at work. :P

Josh has been my favorite all along but I thought his performance this week was among the weakest so I was surprised when he went through.

I agree it's between Josh and Melanie at this point. Either way both will land big deals.

All these are pretty much one trick ponies...with the exception maybe of Josh. I can see him doing a few different genres well.

Also, look around at our pop culture - being a one trick pony looks like a requirement.

Josh was probably the worst performance this week by far. But it wasn't his fault...I just couldn't hear him at all with the sound mixing.

Neither will land "big" deals.

this show just doesn't do it for me. the formula is just not working and the host just makes it unbearable to watch. I literally have to watch it recorded so I can fast forward through to the singing.

The host really is shockingly bad. Makes me appreciate the job Ryan Seacrest does in a way I never did before.
Our collective network overlords should really just find a way to clone Cat Deeley and have her host every reality show on television. I don't know how she keeps getting snubbed by the Emmys in favor of that Jeff Probst robot.

In tears at that video. :lol :lol :lol

SYTYCD would be such a mess without her. She's so goofy and personable.

Did you see how Drew was like "I DONT WANT TO TALK TO YOU" in her emotions when Paula approached her after the elimination on stage.. hahaha..

EDIT: Justin Bieber began following Drew and tweeted her on Twitter tonight. IT BEGINS

Wow, I just noticed this thread. I like the burrito maker who sounds like Joe Cocker. Josh is his name?

When he sang First Time Ever I Saw Your Face ... man. You could hear crickets.

Poor Drew dropped by her Twitter after being eliminated and saw this lovely gem...

@drewryniewicz FUCK YOU...YOU KNOW YOUR ASS CAN'T SING NOW GO SUCK A DICK. #AndThatsTheEndOfThat

Her reply:

drewryniewicz Drew Ryniewicz
@Proofdadon84 I didn't need to see this...

Good thing the Biebz was there to cheer her up! Twitter can be really depressing sometimes.

Drew's recent performances have been undeniably lackluster, and definitely one-note, so I wasn't surprised to see her in danger last night (although to be fair, the performance was probably one of her best, out of that one-note batch). But I really, really wanted to see two of LA's acts leaving on the same night. It would've been 10x more delicious.

Nicole was either playing the game or just that clueless, Paula is as thick as always, both will look twice as stupid if (when?) the outdated and unmemorable Marcus lands in the bottom two next week. You know Simon will find a way to rub it in. Actually, I can already see Simon telling Paula backstage: "This is not what I brought your mismatched ass from the dead for, wench!"

As for the safe acts:
- Thank god for Melanie
- I'm still not a fan of Josh, who I only see a Daughtry, David Cook, and Lee Something boring career ahead of him.
- Rene is obviously the troll pick.
- I can't stand Rachel anymore, that girl needs a genuine personality transplant, stat.

I'm not a fan of repeating "Wow, and she's only [age] old," but lord almighty, Rachel Crow literally made me say WOW at least 3 times. It's not just the amazing voice, or the fierce persona that posses her when she sings, but those arrangements; She's too young to come up with them on her own, no?
JESUS. SHUT THE FUCK UP, NOOB!

Now that Astro's gone, I really don't care about anyone in the competition. I knew he was a heel pick, but he's definitely the one with the most talent up there.

Melanie will win just as the show setup and all the stories will be "X-Factor contestant who was almost kicked off the show wins the whole thing!" and everyone will be in her corner.

Meh! Drew crying last night actually bothered me a bit, but when she dropped the "JESUS IS THE KING AND SAVIOR" shit I was like "Oh good...that softened the blow considerably!".

I loved the drama last night. Drew should have stayed but I was not that sad to see her go, especially aftet her wining at the end, I honestly thought her head was getting a little big.

Marcus was in the bottom 2 last week and should of gone this week.

Astro leaving was a travesty. The kid was one of the most original people on the show and has some serious talent. I'm glad that he at least went out with some class.

She needs to learn to ignore that bullshit or at least not reply to it so that trolls don't get the satisfaction. I'd love to set up a Jay & Silent Bob type service where me and a bunch of thugs drive around in a van slapping the shit out of people like that.

Yeah, that Jesus outburst was bizarre. Up until her awkward cat fight with LA Reid last week, the show has portrayed Drew as this ethereal, impossibly mature creature as a counterpart to Rachel's spontaneous bubbliness. I still think Drew's talent can't be denied, but in the end she really couldn't handle the things shows like this basically require you to put up with. She let our last memory of her be a supernova-level breakdown in front of 10 million people.

I'm surprised Astro lasted as long as he did, especially after his bad attitude that one week. Kids talented but America is never going to vote a rapper to win these competitions. Entirely way too many people who don't care for the genre. He'll get a contract eventually and make some money to buy his mom a house.

Drew needed to go, she was fucking boring as shit. Every song was the same, and man was it great looking at how pissed Simon was. That made my night :lol

Marcus is the shit, I love that entertainer style but he doesn't stand a chance. He's gone next week. For me, its between Melanie and Josh and I want Josh to win so bad. Not many Joe Cocker-like singers out there today and while Melanie has the range and natural talent to win.. something about her seems a bit naive unpolished and not quite Whitney enough for me to say, "DAMN". She's good, probably the best range and power on the show but personally, that grit, that rock that Josh has is even more rare.

Team Josh

rumor has it that Jay-z signed Astro, I hope so, I root for the kid.

Really? I'm pretty sure finalists in these kinds of shows sign contracts that explicitly ban taking any record deals until after the show has ended (or after the tour, if there is one). Pia Toscano from AI10 was a very public exception, but only because she was obviously a plant and granted permission ahead of time. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave Astro some special treatment, though. Even if he wasn't bringing in votes, he was probably bringing in viewers.

I thought so too, but maybe Jay-z worked something out with the show.
