The Center hero key right now is hard coded to be your select hero key pushed twice. Simply bind select hero to space, then all you have to do is tap space a second time, and it will work just like LOL.

Also, tab is used to change between units you can control, if you have more then on. The scoreboard isn't really that important, since it doesn't show stuff like items and creep score, it only shows K/D/A.

Also, Valve just hasn't updated the Practice Lobby stuff at all. A month ago, there wasn't even 5 open practice games at once, so it wasn't a problem. Right now, the list only shows 5 lobbies at once, so if you want to get into a game you more or less have to use the password options.
Hmm, so if I want to play a co-op game versus bots with random internet people, what's the quickest way to do it? I mean I could just dive into matchmaking games and not worry about terrible stats, but since it's tied to my Steam account forever I would feel a little embarrassed. =P

As for select hero, spacebar doubletap already seems to do that...unless you mean a tracking button? I mean I wanted functionality like holding spacebar in LoL, where it temporarily makes the camera follow you as you're running. Or at minimum, a single tap option. *shrug*

How to be extremely bad-mannered and annoying: Pick furion and clockwerk. Rocket their fountain. When the creep waves start, teleport to their fountain (you have sight from the rocket) and kill their courier. TP back to a tower. Repeat this throughout the game.

Lich and Prophet have gotten buffs throughout their whole lifetime. Lich I think is alright, but Prophet needs to be toned down just a bit. Personally I think they need to reduce the amount of bounces on his ultimate and remove the magic resistance from his treants. Prophet is also really good in lane (max sprout and teleport) even though most people jungle him.

Prophet is the only hero I've ever seen finish a real game with over 1000 XP/min. If you know how to farm with him and you are left unchecked (and you will be in pubs) he is completely unstoppable.

I am pretty sure Valve is going to reset the win/loss stats at some point, especially since right now it is bugging out and at times will randomly assign 5x-10x the amount for a single win/loss. Just play games, don't worry.

Does that include abandoneds too? I got my first today once the router bounced =[

Technically, yes, but I think you still get the same amount of time in the low priory pool even if it happens. It is 24 hours for any abandon right now though.

Do you get an abandon if your internet goes out and you reconnect? (Are reconnects possible?)

You'd have to find 4 other people that want to, the bots are terrible so I'm not sure you'll find anyone else who wants to play them over actual people.

There are gaf members who practice regularly but we whenever we asked the channel no one joined so we stopped asking.

How to be a dick to the bots, an easy guide:

1) Random.
2) Buy a Gem of True Sight
3) Goto lane. Wait for creeps to arrive, drop gem on ground.
4) Bots will just stop in their tacks.

FUCKING MATCHMAKING LEAVERS!

I just had a matchmaking game where I was playing Storm Spirit, doing better as him than I did the first time I played him (Got first blood within one minute and an assist right after that!). Then I noticed our Lich disconnected right off the fucking bat and didn't come back! Then about 10 minutes later, our Weaver disconnected. We got completely rolled after that!

Being new to whole Dota thing, I recieved an invite and have been trying to get into the game. From watching some matches.

Any GAF tips or links to a good in depth guide. Nothing clears a lobby like saying.. "I'm a new to this, any advice?"

Watch how they run.

the best thing you can do right now is going to playdota.com and read some guides about basic mechanics and the hero youd like to play. Some gafer postet which heros are "beginner friendly", so just choose one of them and play some bot matches :)

Thanks for this. :)

Nope, I never get matched up against the terrible players I end up with. Just had another game with a terrible Necro and NS ;)

How do you enable the console? I didn't notice that in options, though I did find the key bind stuff. Maybe it was there as well. XD

Also, I am disappointed that (I guess because of the Source engine?) this game has the same sound loop stutter that TF2 has. At least it hasn't crashed on me yet, and it doesn't seem to stutter as often as TF2. If a game is going to hang I would rather it just freeze than loop sounds. *nitpick*

Add -console to your launch options.

Finally won a game after losing like 10 in a row, was a complete stomp, felt good.

Looks like it actually works out really well to kill the courier at level 1 as Furion with a Clockwork on your team. You only lose 14 gold net, and loose very little time. The only problem is in a real game, the enemy is likely to still be hanging around their base till the game is about to start.

You can also debate if you want to put some wards at the enemy base or not. If you do, you may be able to keep an eye on the courier when they make a new one, and kill it when it is carrying something big.

Clockwork fires his Rocket Flare to give sight, Furion teleports just in front of the Fountain, Kill the Courier, and Suicides into the fountain.

What if it's a standard pub game and nobody gets a courier?

Or you give up a first blood, doesn't sound worth it at all. You'd be better to ward mid lane and kill the courier there, and steal mids bottle.

Don't suicide into fountain lol. Just buy a TP scroll before you go.

You lose 14 gold and the enemy gets nothing if you suicide. If you TP out, it give the enemy time to react any you spend 135 instead.

Thats assuming you do it at level 1. If you do it any time after, yeah, TP scroll is likely better.

Well, you should be able to notice that when the rocket flare lands.

Also, I got a program to look though the files of Dota 2, and I found this:

good games ikuu.

for all you new guys worrying about to play practice games with bots, your stats, etc., click on that find match button and just play. the first step in learning how to play dota is accepting the fact that you will be a bad player with awful stats for quite a while. it's just part of the long and brutal learning curve, but the sooner you get over your fear of losing or the shrinking of your e-peen, the faster you can learn how to play and not be bad.

Oh, one of the few eshop images that has something that isn't just a place holder of a normal item:
timberhood.png

Looks like there is going to be eshop items that make the sheep stick turn a person into a specific animal, so far there is notes for frog, a chicken, and cheese. Also, there is even an eshop weapon for the Neutrals, one of the Trolls has a weapon, most likely only matter if you take control of them.

Edit: More icons, a lot are the default equipment:

I finally did this a couple of hours ago. Won a match using Rylai(?) and lost a few matches using Lich (AFKers :\). Brushed up on character info and not much else. Learned quite a bit. And I sure I not only speak for myself (maybe a small group of the collective of new players) but I find dealing with the community much more of a deterrent then the game itself -- even during practice matches, had people flipping out over mistakes, understandable.. but its called "practice" for a reason...

Anyway, a very fun game once you get over whatever seems to be preventing you from playing.

Had an awesome game with Dazzle today. Was rocking an Urn of Shadows, Scythe of Vyse, Bottle and a Mekasm at the end. So much healing! It was a close game for quite a while but we won some team fights pretty decisively and then pushed to victory.

Said it before but I love the fact that valve is not going to change heroes and items completely with dlc, they fit perfectly in the game, hope it stays that way.

Nice to see another Dazzle player in the house.

I tried using Crystal Maiden but she is just so weak. Has anyone seen a good CM?

There are also several files called things like "betting_i1b"

Oh, and a picture of the map. Bit small, but no Fog at all:

Also, who is this? Called Profile_i4:

Oh, also, a screenshot from the year 1995, what is of note is the very very small UI is different:

Oh, and Mr void:

Her slow and stun make her great in team fights. Well placed ult does some serious damage too. She was always a bitch to last hit with in dota 1 though.
