To be fair, you also had a gut feeling that the 3DS would be discontinued soon and that Nintendo would be forced out of the console business...
That wasn't a gut feeling; that was my depression.
I strongly believe that the PS4 and XB3 will have 4GB of GDDR5 RAM on at least a 256-bit GPU bus, while Wii U will have 1-1.25GB GDDR5 on a 128-bit bus. It's just a gut feeling, but I really think third-parties will force MS and Sony's hands.

Anyone else think that it's pretty likely that Nintendo introduce a more advanced version of the WiiMote especially for Wii U? Perhaps not at first (to prevent consumer backlash and emphasize the compatibility of the old Wii shit), but I believe it's inevitable. Here's what I'd like to see:
-Keep basic button layout intact. The Wii Remote is just right for casuals and has a decent number of input options. Except...
-Make the trigger analog
-Same gyros and accelerometers that are in the Wii U tablet
-Higher quality IR camera and sensor bar for better pointer functionality.
-wireless nunchuck with rumble, same gyro/accelerometers as main unit, and analog rear trigger.
-curvier design and WiiU logo
Wii Mote Pro?
It's certainly possible... But considering the standard controller will be the UTab, I dunno if it'll happen.
Add ons, especially late in the game, aren't exactly well supported.
Please keep the hysteria to yourself. I was hoping the thread would be more civil considering bgassassin's assesments along with beyond3D speculation thread and lherre's vague confirmation. Then I remembered this was GAF, home to the jumping ship threads. That wasn't a gut feeling; that was my depression.
It all comes down to killer app theory. Can we get another Wii Sports or Wii Fit out of them?

So a site throws a bunch of their speculation. What are lherre's comments on it? I think the only thing we can really confirm is "tons of eDRAM", the amount, of course, is still up in the air.
I don't even see that having the same amount of impact. Obviously I can be wrong, but I don't see the game that gets non-gamers into playing with the screen having the same level of affect.

MB or Mb? I am assuming you are talking about the eDRAM aspect.Well, 768MB would be tons....
It would also set your table on fire, but hey. Small price to pay.

I wonder if Wii U games will even support normal Wii Motes.

It's going to be between a 2-4x difference all around.

Third parties have no influence on console specs at all. You can say "but Epic increased the 360 memory...", but they didn't. They pointed out what graphics GoW would have on 256MB, and that the 360 wouldn't be competitive. It was competition that drove Microsoft, not Epic's desires. Next gen, competition won't be about specs.
4 GB / 256-bit is horrendous for motherboard complexity. 4 GB / 128-bit is stretching it, even.

Yeah, but then they quote us as to having been a typo.MB.
I was just commenting on the recent rumor.
What about the 3DS?
The question is how much will that difference translate into what we end up seeing. It's going to be between a 2-4x difference all around.
Personally, I'd err close to the top end of that estimate.
The question is how much will that difference translate into what we end up seeing.
Which isn't terrible....but I guess it depends on developers as well.Polygons and Textures and Lighting differences.
High to Medium/Low settings on a PC.
What about the 3DS?
Handhelds and consoles are not comparable for a plethora of reasons...
The least of which being that mobile tech has been leap frogging in recent years while desktop tech has not.
Just give me my Zelda, my Mario, my Smash Bros, my Metroid, my Donkey Kong, my F-Zero, Kirby, Star Fox, every goddamn Nintendo franchise in 1080p and I'll be happy.
That's all I ask.
Oh, and Darksiders 2.
Seems about right. Specific hardware optimization would mean that the downgrade wouldn't be as horrible as compared to some downgrades you see in some PC games on lower settings.Polygons and Textures and Lighting differences.

No, I mean that rumor about the RAM being doubled. No doubt third-parties were behind that move.
Oh, ok. Thought you were speaking on something else.
Actually, the rumor was that the RAM was doubled last second to accommodate proper use of the 3D, since original dev kits didn't actually have 3D screens.
That's the same dish we always get, sans the 1080p of couse. It'd be nice to get that with a side of third party support, hold the half-hearted ports.
The question is why are most of use here multi console owners?
Why would they not be 1080p?
Pretty much yeah.
Wii U is close to half a step above 360.
Nextbox is close to half a step above Wii U.
Something we've been saying all along.
Based on what we know, it seems pretty logical to come to that conclusion.not that I disagree with you (I actually believe we will see something similar) but how can you make this claim as fact?

We can argue semantics about my wording another time.

Sony is, well who the fuck knows with Sony and they'll be pushing PSN. I fully think you're going to see PSN+ expanded. They seem to have no drive or desire to push Move, but who knows next gen.
