And the Uncharted 2 director is behind this? Sign me up!
Naughty Dog use identical assets in cutscenes and real time, so what exactly is the difference you're referring to?

Well it's obvious when you look at how well Dead Island sold.Elaborate.

Damn, it was a really nice trailer. The big surprise and wildcard was really Naughty Dog, and now I'm fascinated and want to know a lot more. If it's release date is another two years from now (which it usually inevitably is) then I'm going to be disappointed.
There's been similar mentor + student / parent + son, in post-apoc world templates in movies.
The Road
Stakeland (awesome movie that only made $20,000 in the US)
I don't think it's been done in games before, where the dynamic is more male + dame in distress (RE escort missions). Looking forward to this shit!
Not unbelievable.
But I'll buy itCould definitely see similarities in the graphics between this and Uncharted 3. Hopefully they don't stretch their arms towards all the walls and have issues with sound cutting out.
The thread title is incorrect. The lead designer of Uncharted 2 (Neil Druckmann) is the creative director of this game. Amy Hennig was the creative director of all three Uncharted games.
You highlighted "character-driven story" and replied to it, did you just highlight that for no reason?the amount of times i'm able to set my controller down.
So... absolutely NO ONE on GAF saw Naughty Dog as a developer coming right?
Also, yay! Ellen Page!
Pre-rendered in-game footage, like U3 cutscenes.
Meaning, game will look incredible, but exactly like that.
The thread title is not incorrect. Yes, Amy Hennig was the creative director of Uncharted 2 but Bruce Straley was the game director of Uncharted 2 and is the game director of The Last of Us.
eh, i'm interested as long as it's more valve-y and less naughty dog-y

Reminded me of this, y'all prolly forgot who did the whole nature taking back civilization thing first.

If you don't like Naughty Dog, why are you coming into a thread about their next game and intentionally shitting in it? Why not just play a Valve game? I'm not a fan of Valve games, but I'm not gonna go into the HL3 reveal thread and be all "I'm interested as long as it's more naughty dog-y and less valve-y"
Was going to say Naughty Dog was the developer as soon as the hint in Uncharted 3 was spotted....

well i find the premise interesting. i think there are ways to tell a story through gameplay and design, and it'd be cool to see them step outside of their comfort zone and not rely on cutscenes and guided experiences (although valve is guilty of this too, sometimes). i'm kinda surprised they're working on a brand new ip for the ps3 this late in the game, so i'm hoping that it will be really different.
Didn't read whole thread but... isn't this just Enslaved?
Game director from Uncharted 2? Is that different from the one from 3? If it is, I'm in day 1

There should be like a comic/game/movie/whatever tickles you fancy called "The Adventures of Nathan Drake: Kitty Got Wet" lying on a desk somewhere.Be awesome if we get to see a nathan drake cameo in the game

But what is SSM working on then?

Eh, I don't know the trailer seemed to show that they behave exactly like that, running around simply looking for a victim to latch onto. But it looks like there will be different types of threats to deal with in the game, the mindless fungal people grabbing on to you like traditional zombies, and the survivor scavengers that are basically human like you, so it should break up the monotony.
totally glad you've figured out our entire narrative and gameplay mechanics from a two and a half minute cinematic trailer. i was worried it wouldnt be evident. groan.
When will we learn more? Next year?totally glad you've figured out our entire narrative and gameplay mechanics from a two and a half minute cinematic trailer. i was worried it wouldnt be evident. groan.
These are the words of that kid in class who always exclaimed "That's what I was going to say!" whenever somebody else was chosen to answer a question and did so correctly.![]()
