Videogame facts that blow your mind (SuperMarioBros. SHOCKING SECRET INSIDE p #70)

From an interview with the creator of SF1:

...and here I thought it was based on the Kamehameha

Interesting... Other than the whole starting Dimps thing, I found another interesting quote:
1UP: Were there other big ideas that didn't quite make it into the game?

TN: There were a lot of things that didn't make it in. But I was headhunted by SNK after its release, and many members of the development team and I moved over. So we went on to make Fatal Fury, and we put in a lot of the things we couldn't in Street Fighter. So for me, Fatal Fury is my "Street Fighter II." And the actual Street Fighter II was created by someone else at Capcom after I left. So that's where the vision for Street Fighter diverged; the continuation of Street Fighter that I had in mind with Fatal Fury, and the Street Fighter II that Capcom created.

Apparently, according to Kirby Wiki, the RPG mini-game in Kirby Mass Attack has Kirby ride on the Moto Shotzo (what Trax is called in Kirby) away from a boss from Trax, too.

Kirby Super Star also had an enemy named Capsule J based off Konami's Twinbee, who was altered in Ultra to not be a copyright violation.

Kirby wiki?..man i am old..

The forum keeps logging me out whenever I try to quote post 116 from this link, so I'll post it here: the entire Ancient Cistern dungeon is a direct homage to a Japanese short story called The Spider's Thread:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spider's_Thread

This really blows my mind.
The spider thread going down into hell, the lotus pond, the Buddha statue....all aspects of that dungeon.
Very creative, Nintendo!

this is incredible!

This changes everything. Did anyone ever actually check if Mario games outside of SMB use the cloud = bush thing?

This could be a hidden tradition/easter egg when everyone assumed that it was just in SMB.

I think it's more likely that they noticed that we were making a big deal about it and decided to reference it.

Im posting the secrets in the blog in order, from the first page of the thread to the last.

Right now i posted more than 70 secrets, and im still at page 20 of the thread

But this 3d Cloud/bushes was just to much to wait. I had to put it in the blog as fast as possible.

Its www.shockingvideogamesecrets.wordpress.com , and its a database for all the "shocking" secrets posted in this thread since 2008. I dont know if its forbidden to post the link in a thread. If it is, im sorry, please delete.

The blog is doing fine, im getting at least 10 posts a day and im not even tired of it. But im still gathering strenght to improve the tag system...

I'm sure cloudbush is just a humorous bit of knowledge at NCL. I have to think they've known all along.

I doubt the MK7 thing is in reaction to GAF.

There are a few Mario facts in the newest Video game vault and I think not all have appeared in this thread (might be wrong, read it all some time ago, but it's just too many information to remember it all).

I only don't remember the Ox thing ... but i do remember that image appearing here

The ones like speedrun times and peach being kidnaped wasn't either, but these are not exactly blow your mind facts =P

Also, i find completly hilarious that they used a game genie code to jump over the flagpole, since pop-fiction has footage of that done in a non-cheat way

Haha as I noticed the clouds look just like the ones in the first Mario, I had to check the bushes when I first played MK7. Yep.
