we didn't name him, and the name can still be changed if we want to. we picked him because we thought it was funny how his name is so similar to my husband's online handle (jarosh). it's just his "official" name (he's a purebred) and that name and full title are what goes into his family tree.
our other cat is actually named alyosha, but we call him yoshi.
if anyone has suggestions for nicknames for "janosh", i'm all ears!
edit: the "j" is pronounced like a "y", you know, german language and all that.
