how big do you think the budget for programmers and designers to sit around solving advanced gameplay and physics problems on a aaa game is? :-DKevinCow said:I don't understand why one guy can make a body dragging system where it actually looks and feels like you're dragging a body, but dragging a body in a HUGE BUDGET AAA MAJOR GAME still looks and feels like you're pulling along a big paper doll with constantly glitchy physics.
Well, that's a rude summary. Gonna be one hell of a game regardless.fizzelopeguss said:A character study in aspergers. *dream of fighting rabbits, proceed to make meticulously animated torture simulator*
It's not even that bizarre, really. The guy laid down a really good framework for general action-adventure activities like melee combat, platforming and stealth, the characters involved just happen to be anthropomorphic animals. Also, this is a direct sequel to Lugaru, which featured bunnies as well.fizzelopeguss said:I think it's great that someones put so much effort into something so bizarre.
procedurally meticulously animated :Ofizzelopeguss said:A character study in aspergers. *dream of fighting rabbits, proceed to make meticulously animated torture simulator*
Because the concept of that game is far better and deeper (for my tastes at least, there are too few Mount&Blade likes around these days) than a badass rabbit beating the crap out of other less badass rabbits. And his work could make it look awesome. That's the point of claiming I'd love a mix of both to begin with, so the epic samurai squad sandbox game would look as well developed as Overgrowth.JoeMartin said:Why would he want to go from developing his own awesome project to working on a project that looks by all comparison terrible.
I believe the word your looking for is unique, there's nothing bizarre about making a third person action/adventure game.fizzelopeguss said:I think it's great that someones put so much effort into something so bizarre.
Just the opposite. The blood and gore was too ghoulish for the dev with realistic humans.fizzelopeguss said:A character study in aspergers. *dream of fighting rabbits, proceed to make meticulously animated torture simulator*
yeah, it is too bad they seemingly don't really have a bigger plan for the overall game than what they already did in lugaruAlextended said:Because the concept of that game is far better and deeper (for my tastes at least, there are too few Mount&Blade likes around these days) than a badass rabbit beating the crap out of other less badass rabbits. We don't know much about their plans at all though.Joseph Merrick said:yeah, it is too bad they seemingly don't really have a bigger plan for the overall game than what they already did in lugaru
Yeah. Lugaru was fun, but extremely repetitive. Even the different environments didn't actually change much (except when I used them to cheese some of the more difficult fights later on).Joseph Merrick said:yeah, it is too bad they seemingly don't really have a bigger plan for the overall game than what they already did in lugaru

do you know what a furry is now? csi had a good episode on it. :-DDThoughtsOfSpeaking said:Why is it that the indie devs that create the best animation, animation that even shows up the big boys, love the most off-putting character designs?
This and skullgirls are 2 of the best games I've ever seen animation wise but goddamn they are both weird as hell.
For the record, I had no idea what a furrie was before a couple of weeks ago. I'll be interested to see what the finished product looks like in any case.
ThoughtsOfSpeaking said:Edit: actually, I dont think this game is weird per say, just that the realistic nature of the combat just doesn't mesh well with the giant bunny combatants. It's almost like the violence needs to be more cartoony.
This thread needs more attention. What this guy as done is amazing. I'm sure by the time he's done people will be able to build their own game using his engine.
I don't think I agree with that evaluation. The fighting engine already looks solid and the great mod tools will allow for tons of content.Between this and the Infinity engine we're going to end up with cool tech with not much (if any) game to back them up, and that makes me sad.
Yah, this guy should team up with the Kenshi team instead, which lack everything this guy has and have everything this guy lacks.Between this and the Infinity engine we're going to end up with cool tech with not much (if any) game to back them up, and that makes me sad.
Well yeah, he's still implementing core features into the game.Looks neat, but looks like a rough tech demo, not a video game.
