Wii U Spotted At CES

OMG METROID SPOTTED ON SCREEN!
Nintendo couldn't even bother showing of a game that runs at 1080p! That is clearly 742p

Beware of wishes, Mr. Backseat Mod.

I wasn't calling for a member cull, I was saying posts like that read like a good excuse for one! Some people have nothing better to do than post trolls that will obviously only rile up an enthusiast fanbase. All in good fun I'm sure, but still...

I wonder why Nintendo didn't just partner with LG to show it off at their booth, or did they? And why didn't they announce it? I really don't get this marketing angle. People walk in, are like: "Wut, what's the Wii U doing here?" and it seems no one knows why it is there.

It's just... 'there'.

I don't care what anyone says about the controller being ugly. It looked mighty sexy in those E3 vids for Zelda and it has a nice glow in low lighting.

Playing movies or games on that baby should be a VERY nice substitute for the TV every once in a while. I do agree with the comments about the slide pads though. They should have stuck regular analog sticks in there and decreased the amount of plastic on the sides(maybe make the controller a bit less rounded to boot)...
Brightness is gonna be fine, but it's probably using a tn display to keep the costs down, so the viewing angles aren't gonna be great.

Pretty if you ask me and I'll take these babies over a DS3 any day of the week. That playstation controller is like the Iron Maiden of console controllers.

Again, the angles don't matter. At all. At least not unless one of your arms is three times as long as the other.

lools like a toy, just like wii did. Yeah in that little thing is a beast processor and beast GPU roll my eyes.

On other side maybe it's fun to play with, definitely not my thing, since Nintendo seems to be taking same direction.

Nobody said anything about beast. But to be presumptuous would be just as incorrect.

Nintendo and LG have partnered for shows in the past.

typical nintendo weirdness

I think it looks great. I agree with Nintendo's philosophy that the input device has the most potential for trying new stuff, even if the Wii mote was a relative failure (software wise)

The slide pads worry me, I don't see why they wouldn't go with sticks.

so im tempted to get a wacom tablet for drawing on my computer but the drawing app thing they had in the demo reel seemed decent if it were realistic. do you guys think this will be a decent device for simple artwork?

The controller looks great to me. I want to play it so badly...

It looks okay, but usage wise it's pretty terrible. Slide pads, buttons directly below said slide pads, etc.

I never said the viewing angles mattered for the Wii U controller, people were talking about it and I replied with what would cause the viewing angles to not be so great.

If they made the bezel smaller, your hand would probably cover the screen. It's a controller after all.

No. Get a real tablet. And I don't mean "tablet" as in iPad or other such toys, I mean Wacom tablets. The input devices you connect to real computers.

And I thought Nintendo would move past this Fisher-Price handheld, but I guess we can't have everything we want, can we?

No way, Fisher Price's stuff is way more adult.

Because we are adultz here and our games need tits and blood and lots of swearing to be matoor

They need to change that singletouch resistive into multitouch capacitive. Now.

They want to be able to draw with stylii on the tablet. And not the crappy kind either. Also, buttons and sticks.

If the slide pad is anything like 3DS, I am not a fan, I don't know why they just didn't go with normal analog sticks. Even though one of Wii U's main purpose is to get multiplatform games and 3rd parties on board, I would still buy the games on Sony or Microsoft's platforms, mainly because I prefer normal analog sticks and I don't trust Wii U online infrastructure. I expect Wii U 3rd party support to be similar to GameCube, it will get some multiplatform games like GameCube did, but Sony and MS will still end up with more multiplatform games, as well as the multiplatform games selling more on the other systems. Wii U will be strongest for it's 1st party support, just like every Nintendo system.
