Videogame facts that blow your mind (SuperMarioBros. SHOCKING SECRET INSIDE p #70)

I know they brought it up in one of the later games (during or after Gen III, I'm pretty sure). Not sure if it was mentioned in-game before then.

I.... could....... CUT..... the.....

..... oh.... my.....

Incidentally, I'm pretty sure it's not the first time it was mentioned in the thread... hmm, where's that tagging site...

Edit: Perhaps I'm wrong. Google isn't helping me find the first time it was mentioned. I can't think where I could have previously known that fact from unless it was this thread, though...

Oh, I think I remember where I know it from. It was in one of the Mew rumours or something. I think I saw one of those that required you to cut all but one piece of grass in a certain area or something else stupid like that. Now, the big question is, was the link that got me to said rumours in this thread... :p

I learned that early on in the game, maybe after the third gym of my first playthrough. I decided to experiment for one reason or another.

In the Layton games, or maybe just in the Last Specter, you can change the location of the Move and Trunk icons and place them anywhere on the touch screen

In Zelda Skyward Sword the bug makes the same sound as the plane in Wii Sports Resort, doesn't it?

No, it's not the same (similar, but it's not the same)

There is a sound effect that was stolen in reverse though. WSR's Swordfight Showdown mode uses the same heart sound effects as in Twilight Princess.

I have a new one for FF7:

You never really see the projections of the Cetra in the temple of Ancients close up, but if you could:

They resemble very ancient black mages...

Oh shit.... I really like this one.

Ohhhhhh, you mean at the victory podium. Why didn't you mention that? I was looking for something around the 11:20 mark like you said and found nothing.

I did say her victory celebration, and I assumed people aren't so impatient they'd watch for more than 10 seconds...

I changed it to 11:30 just to be safe, but still, just 10 seconds? C'mon son.

I say.
I play the Pokemon games since they came out in Europe, and I never knew you could cut the grass. Would have made live so much easier for me in some situations :(

I knew about it since Gold, and I assure you that it is in no situation a time saver. Menu -> Pokémon with cut -> Cut -> animation. Grass adjacent to you is cut. Move one block. Repeat. Took fucking ages. It was easier to just lose if you were in that situation.

That's not what a homophone is. Unless you pronounce H and A the same way, in which case you need to tell me what kind of accent that is.

Parophones then. I thought hompohones also included almost-identical pronounciations but it turns out they're not -phones at all.

Hmm I thought the cutting grass thing was common knowledge.

Bloody useless as it took so long to do on the gameboy games but still.

That Kindergarten Cop stuff is absolutely amazing. "Who is your daddy," indeed.

Did a fan discover that? Or did a developer or art director reveal it? I could see the Silent Hill side not wanting to admit to borrowing assets like that.

KageReneko of the SH forums said:
So the creators of the game were like... "We'll pay homages to several classic masterpieces like The Shining, Carrie, The Silence of the Lambs, The Mist, and Kindergarten Cop??
