Sanjay gonna San- wait, what? DRKIRBY WHY DO YOU HAVE BKB ON TIDE

Seemed like a good idea, since they had a good bit of burst damage. Get stunned, wait for stun to break, BKB, start smashing stuff. Got Blink after that, and then decided "Well, the game is going to be over soon, I have enough for Eul's So Eul's it is"

I think the issue is they feel I should have Blink, and just blink in, Ult, and don't care after that. I don't need blink to get into position, my feet are good enough.

Uhh... I don't care for blink at all on Tide (Moreso for Enigma, which is why anyone who plays with me will see that Blink is my 3rd or 4th core on him). The point is that BKB isn't useful with Kraken since once you get your ulti off you've done your job. You'd be better off adding to your support teamfight power with a pipe or shiva's.

There's just very little utility offered by BKB, merely expensive redundancy.

- You don't need the protection from stuns to get your skills off, your Kraken Shell already provides a stun cancel effect. Failing that, a Blink dagger will make you virtually uncounterable if your positioning is good.
- The extra damage and strength are marginal.

If you want an overkill item, you'd get a lot more out of a Vanguard, stacked armor, or a Heart (assuming you're richer than Zeus). Solves your burst damage problem and gives you far more tankiness.

I thought getting a Vanguard on Tidehunter was pointless because it didn't stack with Kraken Shell. Or is the tooltip referring to something else when it says that Shell doesn't stack with items that provide damage block?

I'm not sure, but I would guess it would go with the highest source of damage block (so in this case, the Vanguard). Even assuming Shell remains dominant, the item would still present more utility to Tidehunter than a BKB would (more hp and more hp regen out of it). A BKB that doesn't provide much utility is a "nothing" purchase, it's basically just fluff.

It doesn't 'stack' but the item is worth it for just the HP and regen alone. Besides Shell is the last skill you max(if you max it at all) and vanguard is way better than shell if it hits, especially before you max it.

Plus vanguard is so much cheaper than a BKB that its basically in irrelevant comparison anyway. You can build a vanguard and be halfway to a pipe before you get BKB done.

The way I figure is, I'm going to up my general survivability and team support, and if the other team wants to blow all their nukes and disables on me after I've popped my ult(and it would take a good 2 nukers full rotation to bring down a tide with vanguard and treads at that stage of the game), then my team is just going to mop up that team fight easily. If the other team is focusing you after your ult, they are idiots :)

So the idea is that you've got the increased HP and regen from the Vanguard along with a 60% chance of having the Vanguard block 40 damage, and if that fails Kraken Shell still reduces damage by 28? I guess that makes sense. I was mostly wondering if I'd been interpreting the description wrong all this time, like the time I found out about the disparity between melee and ranged heroes using the Eye of Skadi.

So buy Vanguard, put a single point into Kraken Shell for the debuff removal, and then use the levels you would have used maxing it out on stats instead? I think I'm starting to understand the idea behind getting a Vanguard on Tidehunter. Thanks.

Looking at the recent VoDs on joindota, how many times are they gonna mention the increase in DK usage? Yes the Euro scene watched some Chinese games, it not a new thing anymore.

A little disclaimer, if the hero has a bottle as starting, it means it's a hero I only play if I can mid, it doesn't mean buy a bottle as starting, if your going mid, you have a choice.

1. Healing Salve
2. Tango
3. 3x iron Branches

Leaves you with 304 gold, so you only need to farm 8 creeps for bottle, you can do this within the first 2 minutes.

Or you can go standard

2x 150 stat item, Healing Salve, Tangos, Iron Branches

If your not confident. it's up to you. If it's not a mid hero, then the builds are pretty standard, adjust depending on your farm.

Nice Wehsing / Fogged stomp

I reinstalled these and notice all the names now have a date in front of them. Do I have to rename every single file to make them actually show up in game or is there some other way?

I'm not sure, however if you wait until Saturday I can give you an updated version.

Sniper is fun...fragile as hell but fun.

Shrapnel really feels a little useless outside of tower pushes and creep farming.

I've killed a bunch of sand kings that tried to get away and would sand storm. Just drop it right in the middle where he is stealthed :x

Yeah but it's just a tad situational. ;)

Killing invisible enemies with AOE attacks is fun in general. I nailed a weaver last night with leshrac's edict when he was chasing me; always feel good.

Alright, that's cool. I'll just use common sense for now sense I understand builds a little better now. I'm guessing the update version will include Spirit Breaker and Silencer then?

Dark Seer is ridiculous. He's definitely going onto my "will learn" list.

Asked Artanisix to confirm, and yes, the highest source of damage block is operative. So it's as you say, if the Vanguard fails to proc Kraken Shell will. I've built it a few times on Tide, and suffice to say it makes you insanely tanky.

We need to start making a big list of all these gems of advice Sanjay gives us. Your the fucking king of 'specialist' item builds.
