Videogame facts that blow your mind (SuperMarioBros. SHOCKING SECRET INSIDE p #70)

I have a new one for FF7:

You never really see the projections of the Cetra in the temple of Ancients close up, but if you could:

They resemble very ancient black mages...
Where is that model from and how does the scene (where this model is used) look within the game?

I'm looking for some context here.

They're only in the Temple of the Ancients. You really don't see them up close, since the camera is pulled out in this area.

The box art of Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon uses concept art that Nintendo created for Zelda in A Link to the Past (as seen in Hyrule Historia, page 143). According to game director Dale DeSharone, Nintendo was specifically tasked with creating the character designs for the box arts of Link: The Faces of Evil and Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon!

Wait, there was swearing in FF7?

Of course there was... it was, back then, pretty notable IMO.

I also remember some pre-release English screens that showed more instances of "shit", that were $%&%$ in the final version.. It's like they made a last minute attempt to censor the swears...but didn't get them all before it shipped :P

Tinypic recycles URLs after a while, which is why it is banned now. You can see what the URL currently points to if you replace the stars with "tinypic(dot)com". It's - I don't know what.

Yes, i did that already. I just couldnt understand what were they talking about, considering the replies.

As a tribute to the recent Hudson Soft (RIP) news -

BOMBERMAN ACT ZERO was actually a sequel to BOMBER KING (which predates most Bomberman games!!!)

Just saw this on tumblr and thought it was interesting... high school logos from the Persona series:

The ones from P3 and P4 are kind of obvious but the one from P2 did blow my mind; at first I thought it was a bit of a stretch, but then I realized the game takes place in Sumaru City and Subaru/Sumaru are both Japanese names for the Pleiades constellation.

Does that mean that King Harkinian was actually created by Nintendo? Holy Shit if true.

Whoa, cool find. I wonder if Persona 5 will have something similar.

What's more mind blowing to me is that it never occurred to me that the Subaru logo had the Pleiades in it.

In Pikmin there seem to be a few easter eggs hidden:

Interesting... Some screen places have an hidden name using free look... interesting even more:
The Screen Designer is called Tokihiko Toyoda, and what's wrote on the place? Toyoda... It seems like an easter egg just for the developers (such as the Portal, with the Radio named the guy who made the Sounds)

There's even more hidden outside of the visible area:

Don't know if this had been posted, but I'm Playing Splinter Cell Series right now and something familiar was with some voices in Pandora Tomorrow until I remember from where they are coming. For example Grim voice is played by the same person who voiced Valerie Constantine from Far Cry and most of the mercenaries from FC are played by the commandos from Pandora Tomorrow.

Both games released in the same day.

Sort of. The band DREAMS COME TRUE composed and owns the rights to the songs in Sonic 1 and 2. SWEET SWEET SWEET was based on the credits theme from Sonic 2, not the other way around.

This is somewhat common knowledge, though.
Fair enough. Had a feeling this might be common knowledge, but it blew my mind after all this time!

They also made songs from a bunch of other Sonic 1 and 2 music... Try and find them all!

This ain't exactly "mindblowing" but it's something that not a lot of people realize.

Link in Ocarina of Time and Link in Majora's Mask do not use the same model:

Majora's Mask Link is much more detailed, he finally has a strap for his sword, his ears and hair are more detailed, his boots aren't as chunky, and he has detail on his tunic. For a game that's well-known for mostly reusing OoT assets, it's actually surprising that there's so many little differences that a lot of people don't notice since the models look so superficially similar.

It's like the anti-cloudbush.

Bonus: They actually bothered to make tiny differences to the Gorons between OoT and MM as well.

I also like how Link has much more (but very stupid and redundant) jump animations in MM. But, who cartwheel jumps over dangerous gaps!

N64 Expansion Pak + advances to game engine = profit.

You gotta remember that this is the same link that already went through 8 dungeons and vanquished ganon. By the time he gets to MM hes pretty fricken badass. Probably the strongest link in the entire series...

I always knew that Young Link came off as older and much more refined in MM, but I was never really able to pinpoint why exactly with the exception of him being able to use the Hylian shield like an adult.

Awesome touches that confirm my long time suspicions.
