I believe in Tim Tebow

He's a terrible QB who is only well liked because he is a prototypye of the "always in your face about it" christianity.

So just understand that christians. You, nor anyone in your family, nor any other christian athlete before Tebow, has been as good a christian as he is. You don't compare to him the same way every other christian athlete doesn't compare to Tebow. He is the perfect christian and you are not. That is why he is more well liked than every other christian QB (which would be pretty much every other QB that ever played the game) even though the vast majority of those QB's were better than he is.

Christian or not my ego's not too big to admit he's clearly a better human being than I am. I don't help nor feel the need to help people like he does but I will not "hate" him for doing it. He's a great guy.

I hate espn for making him a story though. They're literally the Fox News or WWE of sports. He is like the most boring actual guy ever but they've twisted him into the biggest debate topic of our generation.

edit; I'm also a broncos fan so I'm happy for what he's doing for my team, both on the field and off.

"Didnt know Tebow is a blvr in our Lord Jesus. Dont be surprisd if Denver wins d big game this yr. God delights in those who r not bashful abt Him in public."
From my dad, who is as yet unaware of my irreligiousness. Makes it pretty easy.
We'll there's that. (not really a big religion guy though not atheist) but I just hate when a guy gets hypedlike this for something so silly. Most player in the NFL are Christian why Is he so special?

And I have a bunch of gator fans on my fb who make it really easy to dislike the guy. (though I'm sure he's a nice guy).

I think because he's killing alot of cynicism out there.

My favorite players based on character are Scott Fujita and Tim Tebow.

And ok, Brady for being a lipstick lesbian.

This phenomena doesn't have so much to do with Tebow as it does for Christian America to elevate and exalt champions of the faith. It's becoming pervasive in all forms of entertainment, sport, and politics. Other QBs don't exist in their worldview. Tebow is the greatest Christian football player on earth to them, emphasis on Christian rather than football.

If he's doing all that outreach with sick people then I think that's pretty swell. Good for him.

Partly true, but you would not say that if you have watched every Broncos game this season and seen the comebacks he helped produce. It also helps he is handsome and was super successful playing in college.

I am an atheist and I can still get over my dislike of his in your face religious attitude because he actually does so many good things. Now if he brought over poor Asian children and tried gave them charity, food and a home and then tried to convert them than I could see why you could have a problem with his spiritual nature. This guy just spreads love.
Why should the fact that he does charity supersede my distaste for his ostentatious religiosity?

The player the NFL deserves, but not the one it needs right now

hahahahaha ಠ_ಠ lol

What I read from that is that he's good enough to play in the NFL and so he should, I guess.

Ostentatious is about the most ignorant word you could use to describe anything about him. But if you believe religion automatically makes a person bad I wont try to convince you otherwise, but mostly it just shows your own hate for religion.

Now I am done with the seriousness. Tebow walks on water, just deal with it.

I like Tim Tebow. I'm a Pats fan too, but I just love him. You have to be a completely jaded, loser asshole to not like him, after watching the the NFL Network SoundFX show on him. Like, when the coach is looking sad, and he walks up to him and grabs him on the shoulder and he's like, "don't worry coach, it's all going to turn around soon." Or when Demarious THomas drops a TD pass, and he goes to him on the bench and takes his shoulder is like, "Don't be sad man, you're gonna catch the game winner, I know it!" AND HE DID.

Did Tebow go up to him and really say that?

Wow if so.

Hunter S. Thompson would never say this.

This is a great article and Tim Tebow is a great person. I just don't understand how anyone could hate on Tebow for his actions off of the field. Sure, some of the religious stuff he says before or after games is a little cringe worthy, but that really shouldn't effect people's perceptions of him. As an atheist, I still think it is easy not to let the religious stuff overshadow a good person doing selfless things for others. He is simply using his fame to spread happiness to people he feels need it the most and I don't have a problem with that at all.

I don't get all the religious worship of him. He's not a frickin' icon, or saint, or prophet.

True, he does good things. He's sometimes a good QB.

But divine? Come on.

I wanna believe, but I just can't. To much time watching Texas Tech football, I guess. I expect a QB to be able to hit simple slants and outs and other bread-and-butter throws, and it's really frustrating to see he often just can't do it.

I do think the experiment is worth taking though. Clearly you can't look at Tebow, arguably the greatest option QB to ever play the game, and just dismiss his very special talents, because he's so deficient in other areas.

Still...I want to believe. That's clearly another one of Tebow's special talents. He makes others around him want to see him succeed. It's really, really hard to stay off his bandwagon--and that quality, that charisma, is a very important quality for a QB to have.

I'm not a fan of religious practice of the "rub it in your face" variety. I can choose to ignore that, though.

Tebow's actions, as described in this article, is nothing of that sort, nor does it have anything to do with his (lack of) prowess as a pro QB. It's him reaching out to other people in difficult situations, on a human being to human being level, very honest and personal, extremely humble too.

How can you hate on that? How can you even make fun of it? I have no attitude towards Tebow one way or the other, since I'm not exposed to him every other second. I just think this is pretty much a prime example of decent human behaviour. Major props to the guy for this. And if his Faith enables him to find peace with himself in order to better help other people, I'd say the dude has it pretty good. I know a lot of people who could use something like that.

I don't think anybody thinks he's divine or anything like that, and I think he gets a lot of miscredit for being showy with his religion... He isn't at all. I always assumed he was until he started getting interviews after winning games this year, and he was just really humble, really nice, never took credit for any wins, and took responsibility for losses. He's what the NFL needs more of, regardless of whether he goes to church or not. Like, he does thank God to begin interviews, but w/e, that's not bad... In a league where you have guys who only talk about themselves, or drum up all sorts of media attention for themselves about their talents, that doesn't bother me, even if we don't see eye to eye on it.

MAn just watch this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp_noHHOk7A

He's a super yokel, but how can you not like him. He's just a goofy nice guy. THe shit with Lance Briggs and Urlacher... "Hey Lance... I've ... I'm so excited to play against you, I've really wanted to play on the same field for a long time, it's an honor."

can't watch the clip, but isn't there a play where Urlacher tackles him, then tebow gets up and says

"hey bud, you get back down to florida often?"

"yeah, few times a year for fishing!"

People who think this is gonna kill the tebow hype are gonna be really disappointed. Denver won 2 games last year, it's been an incredible turn around for them and Tebow was a big reason why.

True. But it's only a matter of time before good ol football exposes him, unless he has the ultimate offseason. Do you agree with that?

at least this will stop the constant press coverage in favor of real football players.

Sure. But I happen to think he's gonna have a great offseason. Remember, this year he barely had any time at all, and he was practicing with the second team for quite a while too.

Tebow love is gonna be alive and well next year, and maybe he'll have the stats to back it up a little better.

He seems like a nice guy, and I have absolutely zero problem with how open he is about being a Christian (I'm a Christian myself, granted no-where near as hardcore as he appears to be, but still). My problem is with the media giving him a huge spotlight because of his faith. With all the attention he's been getting, you'd think he was the single-greatest QB in the history of American football, when in fact he's a slightly-better-than-average QB who happens to be very loud and proud about his love for Jesus.

The part that bugs me is that there are plenty of football players who are openly Christian (hell a good number of The Packers players are shown getting down on one knee and praying before the start of every game, as is the same for most teams) so I don't completely get why now all-of-a-sudden the media gives a shit about one player's faith.

His popularity comes from how he practices his faith, helping sick kids, lifting up teammates who have made mistakes, etc. it's not just that he's religious.

The fact that he's a college football legend doesn't hurt either.

Looking at the game today, we see that teams can adjust to Denver's game. Lets see if one offseason can change him into some miraculous great NFL QB. I truly root that he can do it, but I also realize that every single QB is trying to do the same thing every season and it turns out that a good few can be great QBs in the NFL, even then they are criticized before they win Super Bowls. Look at Eli Manning, who was hated even after winning one, while having some fundamental skill from the start. It will be interesting to see if perception carries him to become some great instant HOF player so soon without proving it.

Tebow, HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA.

Thats all. Bye!

Well... do you know anything about Football? DENVER lost this game to the New England Patriots, That is ALL. The Pats were supposed to win.

That's the problem with the Tebow hype. A lot of Non sports guys come in and talk shit, not knowing what the fuck they are talking about.

I will never not hate the guy but that was a good read. Didn't know he was doing this but I'm not surprised. He's a good guy even if I don't believe he's entirely real.
