2. Who cares about Rodgers legacy?

Niners have no chance next week. This Giants team is going to the Super Bowl in Indianapolis while the Niners had their Super Bowl yesterday. New York isn't going to be fumbling punts and getting concussed at the goal line or letting Alex Smith throw for 299 yards. See you in hell, San Fran.

You should probably stay away from sports threads, as you are absolutely clueless friend.

Niners controlled the last game vs Giants. Eli was confused. Threw 2 picks and really should have been a 3rd (I forgot who it was, but a Niner dropped a sure int). Packers D wasn't stellar against Giants in either game, compared to the Niner D.
One Rogers pick came when Manningham ran the wrong route. Manning wasn't confused at all - he made most for what the WR's were doing. Nicks was playing injured, and Cruz was his primary guy with no strong alternative (Manningham has his severe up and downs).

What's going to be better for NY is having Boley in there healthy and along with Osi and Tuck.

I hate to link to him, but Skip Bayless...

I'm not convinced that Skip Bayless is a human being. Look at him. Look at how he moves (anyone see those "skits" with him and Cheez Doodles?). It's like he's some reptile alien from the planet xzyrtegefr who has taken human form and is working hard at it, but hasn't quite nailed it yet.

That said, (much as I hate to give his shitshow views) I'm looking forward to the logic pretzel he'll try to construct in a few hours.

Don't worry guys, Patriots ain't winning shit. They gotta face 2 out of 3 tough defensive teams. All the teams they beat were shit, just like the Cowgirls.

I had a feeling Giants would beat Packers, they came so close that one week and now all their guys are healthy. I thought it would be Giants vs Saints in the championship. Can't believe Saint's CB couldn't even guard Vernon Davis. I'm calling it now, Giants to Superbowl! Either team they face will be a rematch of their previous Superbowl.

Ravens are going to need to do better at Pass Rushing if they want to beat Patriots.

Ignoring the fact that I'm still up at 4 AM, I still feel pretty good overall. Didn't even need any alcohol to make it through the night.

If Don does go to the Raiders I'd be excited to see one of our assistants get a shot. Perry and Moss should really get a look...I wonder what kind of scheme they'd run since they didn't come with Capers and have experience with the 4-3 as well, as far as I remember. I dont know their backgrounds before they joined the team

For the record I don't blame Capers for our failures but the drop from last year to this was was substantial and he deserves some criticism. I saw him make some adjustments to our gameplan when Matthews was injured which actually resulted in some pressure. Just wish that happened more often. So much soft zone this year because we didn't have a pass rush and he just wanted to stop the bleeding as much as possible, and even that didn't work.

Truer words have never been spoken.

Like hell the Niners are going down. Elisha may have disposed of that cunt hair Rodgers and his merry band of drunken, doping, wife-beating misfits with ease, but now he has to go ONE on ONE with THE GREAT ONE.

Tell me this ain't the face of a warrior! Someone who would slash his own grandmother's throat from ear to ear just to be able to LICK the Lombardi Trophy! After he curbstomps the Giants and sends them back to Jersey with the rest of the dregs of humanity, he'll be one more win away from holding that trophy in his tiny, tiny hands!

The Lombardi Trophy will look bigger in Alex's hands, so will the Super Bowl MVP trophy, and so will his iphone when he texts aaron rodgers, "how does my dick taste."

Niners aren't going to win. FMT can bump this post later if they do; but they're not.

Then I'll get to see another Giants team in the Superbowl, that's 3 that I've been cognizant of in the last 12 years. Feels bad man

Die in a fucking fire Sanchez

So Ravens GAF how good is this Ravens defense? I haven't really watched them play this season. Looking at their schedule they didn't play a ton of good offensive teams either.

Having Boley back has been huge for the defense the past few weeks. Not to mention the addition of Blackburn who isn't amazing but he's brought a ton of stability to the linebacking corps. The Hunter run in the first game against the Niners was thanks to the poor play of Greg Jones who was in on that play. I'd have to look at the Davis TD as well but I believe that was a busted coverage Williams in the middle of the field and Webster was out of position to make the tackle.

don't even know why i'm complaining. let these assholes make whatever excuse they want. what will their excuse be if we make it to the superbowl? what will it be if we win it?
Who cares? Seriously, I'll never understand people bitching that their team isn't getting respect or coverage. If you're winning, it's fucking meaningless. If you win the Super Bowl, even more so.

I PREFER it when the media ignores the Giants. Let the Cowboys and Eagles get all the hype. Guess what? They haven't won shit in forever so who cares? We weren't even supposed to compete for the division this season according to the talking heads...

Stupid phone makes it difficult to post on gaf sometimes. I had a long post on yesterday's games and I hit delete after highlighting it on accident. Pissed me off.

Nonetheless, WOW.

Niners-gaf, I was reading the reactions as the game was on, haha. So good. No sarcasm, I thought the Saints would win much easier, after seeing the Niner's win like that, sheesh, I see them winning the SuperBowl. Granted, NE being their biggest challenge with their TE and Welker/Branch still. But man, Niners looked so fkn good in that last game. Alex Smith really hampered by so many changes in the offense? Who would have known... :p

Suprised GB got smacked up so fkn bad but that NYG pass rush has stepped on in the right time of the season for sure. Gonna be a great game in the NFC.

Fuck the Ravens, I really cant see Flacco doing anything, he seems so medicore.

Top 3 as always. After watching every game, I think they're not as good as in the past, but really the only time I felt their offense looked bad was against San Diego. People sleep on our secondary, but Lardarius Webb and Cary Williams are pretty solid CBs, and as we saw yesterday, Ed Reed can still make plays.

Our D will definitely slow down your Offense some, you won't put up 45 points. It's really about whether our D can slow down your Offense more than your D can make Joe Flacco look good.

I really like Tebow now that i know what kind of guy he is and everyone says he is. His Wisdom is far beyond his age. He is a great young role model with a Huge Heart. Sure he could slip up and make a bad decision just like anyone else, but i respect how he tries to keep himself out of situations were he could easily fall. Now as far as being a QB goes. He is not that great yet. LOL

The Ravens D is good. Not as good as they have been, but they have good push off the line and their cornerbacks can handle the back end.

Problem has always been the Ravens offense. Flacco is garbage - Yates threw three picks and the Texans still took the Ravens to the limit.

Brady isn't going to throw all over the Ravens D, but if they can contain Rice they have a really good shot of taking it.

Yes, it was Greg Jones that blew that coverage.

I'm not even going to watch that game again, the Giants are very different defensively from then. The additions of Boley, Blackburn, and Osi have really put them over the top.

-------------

I mentioned yesterday that the Packers OL did a really good job of stopping the pass rush, but watching ESPN they highlight how Rodgers was constantly moving in the pocket, he was never able to just stand still and survey the field. AT mentioned it via a private convo, but the interior push became really good later in the game and it was very valuable as the game moved on. I'll say it was a combo of having not played in 3 weeks, the drops, and never being able to get set. That was the worst I've seen from Aaron Rodgers in a long time. IMO that solidifies his spot as MVP, the Saints can win and have won when Brees has not played well.

Lastly:

"The Saints had been blitzing us all day,'' left tackle Joe Staley told me Sunday, still a little hoarse from Saturday's craziness. "So there was probably a 50-50 chance they blitz here, and if they blitz off the side we're going to run, to the left, then it's a crappy play.''

A crappy play that could push David Akers to a missable field goal. Fifty yards, maybe, if Smith is tackled for a loss.

"Who knows why,'' said Staley, "but they brought a blitz from the right. So the play we called was perfect for the blitz they put on. Alex was basically running away from it. The receiver [in motion from the left], Kyle Williams, did a good job sealing off the defensive end, and my job was to pull around the end for the alley defender [the lone safety on the second level of the play] so I could block him. We had this play up for the Giants game a few weeks ago, and Alex ran it to, I think, the two-yard line. Then we didn't have it [in any gameplan] for the rest of the year, until this week.

"Pretty amazing we called that play, and the Saints gave us exactly what we needed.''
Staley, from the snap, sprinted out to his left, out of the traffic jam at the line of scrimmage. Smith was three steps behind him, and it's to Staley's credit that he was fast enough to stay ahead of Smith as he ran down the left sideline. If Smith could stay tight-roped along the sideline, the only man between him and the goal line was safety Isa Abdul-Quddus. Could Staley take him out, or would Abdul-Quddus be deft enough to avoid him and push Smith out of bounds?

"We practice cut blocks,'' Staley said. "There's a technique for it. You dive for the upfield [leg] and just make sure you get a piece of him.''

Staley dove at the 12-, rolling toward Abdul-Quddus' legs. At the 10-, Staley's torso hit both of them, and the safety went down like the headpin nailed by a bowling ball.
"I assumed I was in front of Alex, but it's not like you can look around to find out exactly where he is,'' Staley said. "But when I was on the ground, I heard the roar of the crowd and I figured something good happened. It's pretty funny this play happens now, right when all the Tim Tebow stuff is happening. When we'd watch Tebow in college, we'd say, 'Alex was Tebow before Tebow.' You know, Alex was coached by Urban Meyer, and then Tebow was, and they did a lot of the same things.''

It's the block of Staley's life, and he knows it. A textbook cut block in the open field, the kind coaches will show their linemen and tight ends and backs and wideouts and say, "This is how to block downfield.'' For linemen, a thing of beauty.

So damned awesome. What a playcall. Best weekend of football of the year is always the divisionals.

Redskins have inquired about trading for both Peyton Manning and Jeff Saturday Brian Baldinger just said. Man if this happens and he is healthy NFC East will be crazy next year.

Oh Greg. Your avatar... I laughed until I cried.

To be fair I don't think they had a reason to think their team would fuck up so hard today.

To be fair... you're kinda new here.

If you were around more often you'd see everyone posting at how terrible the defense has been all season.
Live by the offense, die by the offense.

Were good but its not like the 2000 or 2006 D

Webb Can Shut ppl Down (Hasn't given up a TD all year) Cary and Jimmy are soild/AVG Ed Reed on had 4 ints this year but hes still very dangerous

Front 5/7 Dont really get much pressure Outside Suggs and the rookie McPhee

Thanks. I heard on the radio that the Ravens didn't play a team in the top 10 in offense this season, but I suspected that they were still really good. In the games I watched them play the defense was lights out.

Alright fellow Pats fans this may be shocking but I believe the Pats defense has improved. We will know for certain this week against the Ravens. Chung/Spikes being healthy is the obvious reason, but moving McCourty to safety has really helped the defense. McCourty has been solid at safety, but Sterling Moore replacing McCourty has been big. Moore has been solid for the Pats. Maybe it's just me hoping they are getting better. This weekend we will find out if the Pats defense has improved, and are no longer the worst defense in the NFL.

Peyton and Eli are close and I don't think he'll push his way to the East if he doesn't have to. I mean if it's the best option it's a possibility but if Peyton is healthy and can play? He'll have plenty of options available that will keep him out of his brothers division.

I dont want a third team getting into the mix.
I hate to say it but the Redskins are on the upswing. They need a QB and some offensive weapons. If they address those things in the draft, they will be even more competitive next season. They have a solid defense that gets hung out to dry by the atrocious offense they field every week.

That Pats better be competitive unlike the last time. At least Welker has a knee this time around. It's good that the Ravens receivers aren't that good to go along with their elite, RB, D and QB.

Oh Greg. Your avatar... I laughed until I cried.
It was right around when the guy at the presser tried to get him to blame his teammates - I did a single random print screen and it was just perfect.

I feel good today though... except for when I woke up and looked down and I still had my Packers t-shirt on which immediately reminded me of the game.

Redskins definitely have a lot of pieces in place. They just need to figure out RB, and get a new QB. No way can they win with Rex or Beck. I wonder how much influence Peyton will have over where he goes. I know the Eagles turned down better deals for Mcnabb because they didnt want to send him somewhere that he would be unhappy.

They were never worst in the NFL unless you care about yards more than points. Arguably the worst defense in the playoffs lost yesterday.

So apparently lil Schotty learned the digit/Coryell system under Cam Cameron while they were on his dad's staff in SD. I don't like this particular branch of that coaching tree :(

Sometimes when I see him play I get a little sad that the Patriots didn't draft him, but time and time again he shows the world he's an idiot and I'm not sad anymore :).

I was never his biggest fan even when he was in college. Okie State just churns out numbers for their WRs
