Makoto is dumb. Seika seems to pick up what's going on immediately, but she's going out of her way to make Makoto x Katsura work, so she's dumb too.

The way they handled the showdown between Tokio and his dad came across as really lazy given that if the writing was strong enough they wouldn't have had to portray that shit as
to drive home the message that money and material things are no substitute for a loving relationship/family environment. I guess they did it because it was easier.

Maybe it's just me but I really don't think it's a good idea to take health tips from a crazy old man living alone in a fucking mountain. Please tell me there are more of these hilarious PSA's to look forward too.
Also note the old guy's casual sexism (towards Juna) and the fact that despite all of the stuff he says about farming, he's a complete hypocrite because he smokes... I know, there are vegetarians in the real world, but that's no better. No criticism from the show for either of those things.
Yeah, ep. 9 is where the show goes from being weird but often interesting to being bad... I liked the first two thirds, overall, but not the last third unfortunately -- both this episode and the final arc just weren't that good, though as far as messages go ep. 9 was the worst one.
You mean why I was saying that moe is at least partially sexual despite also saying that it wasn't? Well, basically I guess the reason is that I'm cynical about it, so even if some people watching don't think of it sexually (and I'm sure some don't), I just don't quite believe that the creators' intent was similar, a lot of the time...
Did you miss my review of ep. 2 where I criticized that element of the show, and a bunch of stuff relating to it? Despite that though I do think that that's still the core of her reasoning. I mean, wasn't the issue in ep. 2 about
getting her to not just see it as an obligation towards people who needed her help, but as something she should get into because as a (the) member of the Sweats Club she should enjoy even something like this, or something? I don't know if it entirely made sense, and it was kind of stupid as I said in my review, but it was something along those lines I think.

Another adaptation of two chapters from way, way later in the manga. I like the quiz questions from this round, shame the Student Council is mostly a bit short on wits. And the second segment was painful to watch. Poor guy.
Looks like one each of the stand-alone Roman and Momoka chapters for next week. Hopefully we should be close to the next big arc in a month or so, if they keep the same pace as between the last two.

The reason I dislike fanservice is not because of the animation or quality, it's because it subtracts from the experience and takes me completely out of the show/movie.

Interesting point. I dislike fanservice in a T&A sense because it's frequently ridiculous and exploitative - not because of what it adds or subtracts from a show. HSotD would almost not be a show without the ridiculous fanservice, but it doesn't stop me rolling my eyes at it and disliking it.
Weirdly, I find fanservice targeted at women - topless sparkly bishounen for instance - ridiculous too, but somehow less exploitative and generally very amusing.
