Guns N' Roses' Sweet Child o' Mine was on the radio and it took me back to The Wrestler and I thought I should dig up the thread and see what Wrasslegaffers thought of the movie. Thread was pretty disappointing, just Gaf's usual film snobs jerking each other off. If that movie had come out during the post-midnight wrasslegaf era... Man, just the thought of what I'd do to that thread.

If his finisher is the Diamond Cutter, I am there day one.

...would be great if many young teenagers would look to the world of wrestling as a job opportunity after watching aronofskys new movie.
^ This quote is dedicated to Dream.

it'll have to be pretty great to top No Holds Barred as the best wrestling movie ever.

So this movie is about Kurt Angle or Shawn Michaels?
R.I.P.

God, that trailer was so awesome.

Seeing the ROH and CZW rings along with wrestlers like Necro Butcher and even Ron The Truth Killings was just surreal.

Day fucking 1.
I wasn't a Little Jimmie when I saw this movie so I didn't catch that.

I thought it was pretty good, but I don't like the ending.
They just left it open at the end and there is no payoff. It was actually like watching a wrestling match, but missing the pin so you don't know who wins. All they had to say was if he lived or died...
Poor Bobo, if only he knew then what TNA had in store for him in the future.

90's fuckin suck

I watched The Wrestler in theaters and also picked up the Blu-Ray and have been meaning to watch it again for awhile now.

Loved the movie.

I don't like dramas so I can't see myself watching that movie. I'm sure it's well done and all. I'm glad someone else besides me hates Gaf film snobs though that's good to know.

In other news, I fucking hate road to wrestlemania, put me in a bad mood immediately.

No Bella Twins :( however, Nikki was the ring announcer.
Also, Chris Jacketo did make an appearance and put David Otunga in the Walls of Jericho. Not the shitty Boston Crab version of the Walls, either.

Pretty decent house show, quite upset Cena wasn't on the card, was ready to boo the shit out of him.

It's Trips. He's the biggest wrestling geek in the WWE.
Probably laughing at what's become of Punk's friend, Scotty Goldman. They probably rubbed it in Punk's face.

I saw it in the theater, too. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I wound up liking it.

Oh Bryan...

Damnit I want him feuding with Jericho and Punk :(

Benoit's never coming back. No matter how much you want it.

I didn't mention benoit...

But Benoit has been back for a while now..

Daniel Bryan reacts to Teddy Long's announcement

"Now go buy my t-shirt."

LMAO

This whole story line with Daniel Bryan is amazing. He cutting all these great promos week after week. I love his whole character of him being this celebral heel playing a face that finds ways to win when the odds are stacked against him by any means possible.

He is winning the rumble match, but I still believe he will hold the title to wrestlemania and face Orton.

Is benoit haunting you? What made you make such a post?

WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF CRISPENWAH?

Oh God, Benoit, get out of my head!

Why did I think that Benoit was in an angle with Jericho and Punk? Why do I believe that all Daniel Bryan fans are really just projecting their love of Benoit on him? Why do they love Benoit?

BENOIT!!!

I need to revisit the Benoit thread that Bishoptl made. He's never been the same since.

it really is a glorious character. It's the most sense a heel character has ever made being heel in a long time.

Also his go buy my t-shirt line is hilarious because of the look he gives afterwards.

They love him cause well they just do. I don't know if he's Benoit 2.0 I really doubt it.
If only Dabry's t-shirt was actually good.

If only.

As soon as I see the word "film" im out. Can't stand the snobbery. "Oh, this fillllmmmmm was such a triumph of cinematogra..." Shut the fuck up!

The Wrestler was pretty damn good, and definitely honest about how destructive wrestling is to older guys trying to hang on to their careers.

Thoroughly depressing, though

Pretty much all of this.

Haha, glad to know I'm not alone in that, its what drives me away from movie theads primarily
Sometimes you just want a heads up on an upcoming movie. But it seems like everyone is a snob. Well, not just a snob, a proud snob!
"You haven't seen *name of obscure, foreign, black and white, and for some reason silent movie made in the 2000s*? I can't belive you are so uncultured."

The
relationship with his daughter
is what got me the most.

While that had a unfortunate ending, it was of the ilk I've seen in plenty of films, so I could see it coming to an extent

The scene that got me most sad, instead, was the little meet and greet with the old broken down wrestlers with a tiny number of fans milling around.

There's not liking snobs and then there's making stuff up. I've seen people mocked for not having seen Aliens or Back To The Future; never mocked for not having seen, I don't know, Citizen Kane. I've never seen GAF had any major discussion about any obscure, foreign or black and white feature, and I don't see what's so exclusive about movies made in the last ten years. Shrek is an acquired taste, I suppose.

Is there going to be the second annual WrassleGAF Royal Rumble pool thing?

Yeah, DKehoe is running it - just message him and he'll add you to the list. We've already got a ton of entries, should be fun.

Hope I get someone better than David Otunga this year.

Some of those are plain disturbing. The aphex twin cover was bad enough without HHH.

The Amy Winehouse/X-Pac cover was pretty gross too.
