FMT kept stressing ST, he was right.

Bad job by Harbaugh. K.Williams was diving for punts, fair catching with no one within 15 yards, then he botches one, what more do you have to see before you go to plan B. I'm sure they instructed him to fair catch whenever possible, but at some point you have to take the ball of the players hand and move on to your next option.

Good game though.

I asked this before, but did SF have anyone else who could return punts?

The problem is that there isn't anyone else. The 49ers really need Ginn today. They win if he's out there.

Last year Ez had a kid and got to see GB win, this year you did and might see Giants win. I think if Giants win, the key to winning a SB for a nfl-age fan here is have a child
Has to be born during the late season/playoffs though, or it doesn't count!

Start saving up for late March/early April, boys!

Niners-Gaf, incredible game. Much respect for that defense which played lights out for most of that game.

I was just glad we finally got a handle on Cruz, whatever adjustments we made in the second half worked. He tore us a new asshole in the first half though.

Congrats Gmen. Do us proud in the Superbowl. Eli you were the best qb in football this year.

As for the Pats I hope their plane crashes and burns on the way to Indy.

Kyle Williams on two occasions snatched victory away from the 49ers.... It's a shame he literally gave NY 10 points.

That said, Alex Smith deserves the blame too. He kept under-throwing passes and making almost zero field progress late in the 4th quarter and OT. Elie struggled as well but he managed to scrap out a few decent plays at the end.

Congrats Giants fans. :(

Good season Niners-age. Definitely didn't expect a season like this 6 months ago. Soooo close...

Can the Niners realistically improve the QB position this offseason? It'd be a shame for them to waste that defense with another year of Alex Smith. Kid just can't get it done.

Real lame way for both games to end. I hope Williams has somewhere to hide. He had been showing progress through the year, but he just needed to do one thing in this game and he didn't... twice.

Just wtf Kyle.

The rematch is on. It couldn't happen any other way. Lord Brady will have his revenge. Then, we shall have peace.

Also, congrats to the 49ers. I really really thought you guys had the game won a few times, and that defense was making a mockery of our offensive line. Forced the Giants to become completely one-dimensional and then started bringing pressure like crazy to keep Eli from being his usual clutch self late. Special teams did you in.

Exciting, stressful championship game, and an amazing season and incredible turnaround for the franchise. I'm expecting to see a lot more of the 49ers in the near future.

We obviously won't use a draft pick and the best FA is obviously Matt Flynn, who we won't trade for, so unless Kaepernick is ready (he probably isn't, who knows if he ever will be), we're going to have another year of Alex.

Called it, such an obvious winner. San Fran with the miraculous victory last week with fluky fumbles by the Saints and 300+ total yards from Alex Smith. It was obvious as hell that they would come back to Earth this week. Gotta feel bad for the Saints losing to a team like this with a quarterback as inept as Smith.
