He is? What did they do to Roethlisberger?
Showed him that it's possible to bang chicks without having to settle afterwards?
He is? What did they do to Roethlisberger?
So if the Colts ditch Peyton, where does he go?
Wait, Giants players admitted to going after Kyle Williams because of his history of concussions? That's shameful. I know that it's probably a reality of the game, but why would you even admit that after all those discussions about head injuries? And especially as a defensive player when your job gets harder every year exactly because they try to reduce the risk of those types of injuries? SMH

On Alex, yes, I was wrong. He's not bottom third. But top 10? c'mon
Hahahaaaaa Tigers.
What's next Lions paying $20 mil to Haynesworth?
In no order, name me ten better quarterbacks this season.
If you demur to that challenge then so shall I
FlynnBrady
Rodgers
Brees
Stafford
Eli Manning
...
Ben?
Matt Ryan?
Tony Romo?
Alex Smith was a top ten quarterback this season with only two targets. I mentioned the other day, a veteran wide would have been invaluable for the 49ers this post season.
Am I the only one who thinks Flynn just had a lucky game, and will turn out to be a mediocre QB?
yeah he really showed how accurate he was in the final drive of the 4th and that amazing performace in OT.

Hey, Brett Swain is a WORLD CHAMPION.doesn't matter though. alex is a good fit for our offense and i expect him to improve with a full off-season and maybe we pick up a guy like dwayne bowe or another WR. alex had weapons but come on, name me a QB that's going to put up 4k+ yards and 30+ td's with these wr's:
1. Michael Crabtree
2. Kyle Williams
3. Ted Ginn
4. Brett Swain
5. Joe Hastings
Much stronger than Alex Smith's....I'm really not familiar with Flynn. How is his arm strength? Being, at most, 6'2" isn't a good thing

No, all stupid people think that.
Go rewatch that game. He made some damn good throws.
System QB talk is foolish.
I went to Google to see what this guy looks like:

:lol
every qb in the NFL can make those throws. they wouldn't be in the NFL if they didn't have some impressive throws at some point in their lives. flynn made those throws for a couple reasons:
1. he had confidence in his receivers (packers receivers are top 5 in the nfl)
2. he had confidence in the gameplan and the playcalls
is he going to be matt shaub or is he going to be kevin kolb? no one knows, but i sure as fuck wouldn't give up multiple picks or a good player and pick to find out
lol noevery qb in the NFL can make those throws.
lol no
I just made note of this on my calendar.for once I agree with BH.

So damn glad neither of the Hairball coached teams made it to the Super Bowl. The type of childishness that their teams exude would be a stain on this great sport.

even tebow has thrown some nice deep passes. if you guys are saying there are qb's in the league that physically cannot make the throws that flynn can make you're being ridiculous. now does every QB try to fit every pass into tight spots like erron or phillip rivers or whoever? of course not. there is more to a passing game then just "oh this guy has a great arm and can make this throw". its about being comfortable and having confidence.

We have similar QBs, and I would agree with you. Tebow has a decent short and long game. His mid range stuff is questionable. Towards the end of the season the wounded duck was becoming increasingly more rare. He is improving, despite what ESPN blowhards will tell you.
I haven't watched Alex enough to know what his best areas/throws are, but from what I have seen is that he does make NFL throws with overthrows or dirtballs peppered in from time to time. Even though some say dump him at this point, or he has had 7 years and we know what he is about, I still think you stick with him and let him develop in Harbaugh's system and see what he can do going forward. Outside of Peyton who else do you get? Hell the guy did his job, up to the point of nearly earning a SB trip. I think you have to stick with him.

it's funny you say that because alex had a very tebow-ish first half against the giants. 2/7, 78 yards 1 TD. then he had 5 rushes for 40 yards. we ran the read option 4 or 5 times early and it worked. i think tebow has a lot of potential. dude is a physical beast and with some patience and some talent at WR he will be in good shape.
as for alex, it's not that he can't make throws, it's that he won't. sometimes he is just too scared of making a mistake. i think a lot of this has to do with his past but moreso i think it's his familiarity with the system and where his WR's are supposed to be. alex smith absolutely deserves another year with a full offseason and some playmakers on the outside
Damn Gil Brandt says Tannehill could be a top 10 pick. Not so much his evaluation but from league people. That would be insane if he went that high. But I could totally see the Redskins do that instead of trading up for RG3. He's supposedly perfect for that system, but has to sit for year.
He'll likely get a 3-6 year deal that will average out to somewhere between $8-12m a season. What won't be obvious is I'm betting the Niners put in a load of clauses that allow them multiple outs after the first year or two, something our GM Baalke is very fond of.I like that you are man enough to discuss this stuff. At least someone with the 49ers is.
I agree with you on Smith. He's got arm strength. He's fairly inaccurate and kind of sucks at timing routes (Tebow!) but he can get every throw into the general vicinity of guys.
I think he should be given a long term deal.

I'm really hopeful we draft a WR in the first round (Jeffrey?) because we need it. Crabs just isn't cutting it. He has spurts of great play, but his release and separation skills are inconsistent. He's an awesome number 2, and an ok number 1. Losing Morgan for the year turned out to be more harmful than originally thought.
Smith needs another playmaker, and if he gets that and improves in the system next year roughly the same amount he did this year, he might crack Top 10. Might. Worth taking a shot IMO.
