Hopefully something more beneficial than injuring people on fluke plays.

Big day for Detroit sports with Prince Fielder signing with the Tigers. Just another superstar in the Detroit sports scene that can hang with Suh, Staff, Megatron, Greg Monroe, etc. etc. etc. in downtown Detroit.

As if it didn’t already appear that the Colts and quarterback Peyton Manning are headed for divorce, here’s the latest evidence to suggest that a parting of the ways is in the offing.

Manning is completely in the dark regarding the search for a new coach.

That’s what he told Bob Kravitz of the Indianapolis Star during a Monday night interview. “Don’t they talk to you down there?” Kravitz said he told Manning, on PFT Live. “You are the franchise quarterback, last I checked.”

You kidding me? Pats fans in this thread are as numerous as Laker fans in NBA-gaf. Just not nearly as annoying. (sorry bionic)

If they are, they're being drowned by people calling them cheaters and wankers, because that's all I ever see. And hey, whatever, I don't care, I still love my team and I can take it like a man. But I'm not about to go out of my way to post in NFL GAF consistently because of those horribly boring virulent comments thrown towards the Pats.

Greg Monroe mentioned in the same sentence as Megatron.

Mayock has his first draft postion rankings out. Has Tannehill as his 3rd QB. I know that people think he could be really good in the Shanahan system. What are the knocks against Kirk Cousins? Seemed to have a great arm the few times I saw him play

I can see Tannehill being taken by the Browns at #22. If Sherman doesn't get the Bucs HC job it seems he will be the frontrunner for the Browns OC position. We've already brought in one of Sherman's former assistant coaches this offseason I believe.

Also I don't think the Browns will stay at #4. More I think about it the more I see Heckert trading down again. Blackmon isn't worth the #4 pick considering he's not as good as Green or Jones were last year. It's too high to take a running back. They could take Claiborne but it's a deep CB class and we could get a good partner for Haden in the second round. We could end up with 4 picks in the top 50 and a first rounder next year.

The key really is Griffin and what will determine what happens to him is who gets picked up in free agency (Flynn? Peyton??) and by which team.

Pffft, I probably see much more, "Er, derp, Stealers, Rapistberger, wah, wah, wah" posts than that. You just shoot back, "Pats* are cheating assholes, Rodgers hates cancer patients, Freeman is a fat fuck, Alex Smith couldn't beat off a mouse and go back to your chair Eznark!!"

So damn glad neither of the Hairball coached teams made it to the Super Bowl. The type of childishness that their teams exude would be a stain on this great sport.

Harbaugh gets in touch with his inner child

My working hypothesis is that Jim Harbaugh is 11 years old. Sure, he's been on Earth almost half a century, but deep inside he is 11.

Harbaugh still didn't answer.

“We want to hear an answer to the question,” I told Harbaugh.

“You demand an answer to the question?” he said.

I imagined the prepubescent buzz in the voice of an 11-year-old as he blew off his mommy.

“You're not the boss of me. I don't have to tell you if I don't want to.”

I had to give someone from the Pistons some love. Monroe is a solid, young 6'11 center averaging 15 and 10 a night. He would be a great player on other teams if he wasn't the #1 opition.

So Niners fans, serious question for you. What's the thought on Colin Kaepernick at the moment? I'm sure Alex Smith will resign in the offseason but is Kaepernick a viable option with more development?

Yeah, I don't see a guy who is going to be a solid, do-it-all plug and play anywhere. I think there are some speed rush specialists that can't cover as you said (which is actually where the Packers will probably go). The LSU line is such a question mark to be because of the overall talent in that group. Is there a guy who can do it without everyone else on his squad being dominant?

It's already a tough enough position to figure out but at least the past few years there have been some true beasts against which to judge guys.

(also, this is why you're MVP!)

I think Mingo is going to be really good, could be wrong though.

Ingram is a bit of a jack of all trades master of none. I've seen him line up as LB, play DT and spin off a guard, rip off a guard, intercept a pass off a fake FG. Shown versatility but its hard to peg him at one spot, more physical with him. If he were bigger there would be no question.

Upshaw on the other hand is all power, just pushes through guys, he's ferocious against the run. Really like him. The two guys I like the most are also the smallest.

Wait. Mayock put Reiff ahead of Kalil as the top OT in the draft? That... counters every other big board I've read.

I hope so, we didn't draft him in the second round for shits and giggles. Alex is a decent QB, but I feel like we hit his ceiling.

Kaep is exactly what Harbaugh wants in a QB, which is why he hand selected him. He originally wanted Dalton but he went the pick before us. I'd love to see Kaep get a shot. Some of the beat writers are saying that he has improved tenfold and his throwing motion has been greatly reduced.

Posted an article a week or so ago saying the same thing. Gregg Gabriel wrote it, former Bills and Giants scout, former director of College Scouting for the Bears. Read it here.

Been thinking about this the last few weeks, but forgot to put it in my previous post. If the Ravens can use Johnson effectively, I'm not sure why I'm hung up on size for Ingram/Upshaw, they're both better talents than he was.

As an Alabama guy, I can say: Upshaw and Hightower would excel in a 3-4 system as OLB (in the DeMarcus Ware mold). Hightower could do MLB in a 3-4, but unless he gets faster (from healing from his knee injury 2 years ago), he might not handle coverage that well. Hightower would be better in the OLB role that splits between rushing and coverage, whereas Upshaw would be more in the Rushing-only mode.

In a 4-3, I'd figure DE would be the best for both players. Upshaw's like 273 lbs. and Hightower's probably over 260 lbs. Both have pretty good football smarts, and are fast for their size, I believe their specialty is brute strength.

I rewatch this bit, where Hightower blows up Florida's RT, at least 2 times a week.

Josh Chapman is a decent NT. He's above 300 lbs, but doesn't play like it. He's not a space hog like Terrance Cody was. He's also not fast, and he's not talented enough as a "pass rushing DT." His game is all about strength, and that's it. Has been the strongest player on the team, since probably the day he stepped on campus.

I've seen some mock drafts that have Upshaw going to the Bills. Would be nice to see him and Dareus back together again. The Bills would have about 75% of Alabama's Pass Rushing ability from the last 4 years :lol

I really want Upshaw on the Patriots.Him or Dre.

I need to look more into Melvin Ingram's past, before this last season. I honestly can't remember hearing from him.

I say this, because I've wondered if his improvement was helped along by playing bookends with Jadeveon Clowney. Who truly is a scary dude. But the NFL is 2 years away for him.

Looked at it, and nope, he did pretty good in 2010. Chalk it up to me not being that interested in South Carolina :P

How do you even pronounce that.

I'm not saying Harbaugh isn't a bit immature, but he looks like the Dali Llama compared to the writer of that shit.
Article is such crap. I watched the Harbaugh press conference and most of the conversation about the California thing seemed totally in jest. The entire press room was laughing at the "It's a midwestern thing!" comment in fact.

no offense but you're a fucking idiot. you'd give anything for the 49ers to be as inept and worthless of a franchise as the bucs, but no matter how much you try we aren't and we never will be.

do you know who lowell cohn is? why don't you research some of his articles throughout the year. including calling harbaugh a jerk, calling harbaugh the most boring coach in the league, saying harbaugh is in over his head, etc etc etc. cohn has had it out for harbaugh since day 1 because harbaugh doesn't play the media game. he doesn't give a fuck so it's no surprise cohn comes out with more garbage.

but go ahead and continue hating. unfortunately for the bucs there are no more harbaugh brothers so your sorry ass franchise will be stuck with a 5th rate coach that will work for peanuts so the glazers can supplement manchester united a bit more

The thing is Tannehill wil have to sit for a year. If a coach plays him at any point year one, the owner should leave the box and fire him on the spot. He's going to need to play for a team with a stop gap in place (SEA, BUF, HOU?)

Wait. Mayock put Reiff ahead of Kalil as the top OT in the draft? That... counters every other big board I've read.

On my Twitter timeline, I had one guy bashing Jeff Fuller and saying he wasn't even draftable, while another was saying he was the only WR out there who was excelling and looking explosive. A consensus won't really form until after the combine

PeyPey is coming to the Niners.

It's going to be glorious.

@memes, don't take Cohn seriously. He has a hatred for Harbaugh that goes real deep. No one knows why, but he has been hating the guy since he was hired.

I've been thinking this for a couple weeks now. It wouldn't surprise me at all.
