Microsoft just paid ATT $200 million to hock Windows Phones:

This is good. $15 is a lot of money based on the salary those reps make.

Isn't everyone doing this to some extend? I think AT&T reps get $10 per iPhone.Exactly
and it has nothing to do with the OS not being able to hold its own. It's money to try to have reps FINALLY share the fact that the OS is even an option.
i have been into several ATT stores many times over the past 14months and it is ridiculous how they do not even show people that there are phones from windows.

Yeah sales incentives for retail employees is normal for the phone business. Wonder why it has taken this long for microsoft to be aggressive with it.Isn't everyone doing this to some extend? I think AT&T reps get $10 per iPhone.
I love how that article assumes that Windows phone aren't selling based on the lack of the software's merit, as if the reason android has overtaken everyone else is the excellence of froyo and gingerbread over ios and mango. Lol.
Why don't you just manually install the patch. It's fairly simple.
The phone still needs to be easy to sell. 20 minutes to convince someone to buy a windows phone for $15 or 30 seconds to sell the iphone for $10.
I looked at it and realized I would have to flash my phone twice since I'm still on 7720, so I just wrote it off. Would it preserve my settings and save states and all that?
Yep, even with this initiative, its still an uphill battle.
So that Steam Mobile App...
So that Steam Mobile App...
Look I know I've been piling on as of late and all, but I know the Steam App seems like an easy target. Yet I feel like this is indicative of the platform as a whole software wise in terms of apps. If it's not something that was really directly money hat'ed or influenced by MS to get on the platform for major apps (ie not indie developers) the WP version is either an after thought or non existent all together.
Even when we do get some of these apps it's like WooHoo we got an app iOS and Android have had for months if not years now. Plus they don't tend to update the WP version as often either.
Problem is outside of money hat'ing at this point I'm not sure what else MS could really DO to get the mindshare of major companies and developers. I guess maybe open the system up to native coding without having to get permission, but beyond that I'm really stumped.

It's simple. 2.7% marketshare is the reason WP isn't getting the apps (on time).
aw shit. i might jump on that. For you Canadiens out there, Telus is having a 72hr sale where you can get a first gen WP (Surround or Optimus 7) for free on a one year contract. Pretty sweet deal. By the time your contract is up there should be some great WP's available.
aw shit. i might jump on that.
edit:
no i won't
What is the cheapest unlocked Mango phone I can get in the US? I have a friend on the Cricket carrier and I'd like to get them a WP. I came across this
No, SIM cards are used on cell phones with GSM cellular technology and Cricket cell phones use the CDMA cellular technology so there is no need for SIM cards.

So is this compatible with WP or not? No idea what it means

You spelled Canadians wrong...![]()
Always thinking of the Habs, I guess :lol
If only MS can figure out a way to cut out the carriers from the update process. AT&T is getting on my nerves.
Eh, a Vodafone branded phone was the first to get the 8107 update. If only MS can figure out a way to cut out the carriers from the update process. AT&T is getting on my nerves.
Why? What do you expect it to do for Windows Phone? So supposedly Samsung's new in house chip is up to 2ghz and doubles the performance of their current dual core chips along with a GPU bump. It also allows for powering a crazy resolution which I expect all major Android phones going forward to be at least 1280x720. Plus you know Apple probably has something similar resolution wise up their sleeve.
MS better be bringing it and well soon. It's going to be hard to wait till Sept if Apollo releases around the same time Mango + the initial run of Mango phones. With ICS already out, and a slew of new phones on the horizon like the Galaxy SIII as well as rumors of a new summer iPhone 5 I'm not sure if MS can get by with Mango for much longer past Q2 of this year.

The Titan and the Lumia screens both look gorgeous IMO
They both look fine especially the Lumia since it's smaller than the Titan. That said is fine good enough when the competition either has or is going to have displays with double the amount of pixels?
What would you think if Samsung and HTC's Android offerings are all 1280 x 720 screens while their WP7 devices are still stuck at 800 x 480? We know the Galaxy SIII is going to probably one up the Galaxy Nexus spec wise, and don't think HTC doesn't have something else cooking as well. Plus we all know how Apple are screen whores, and their current device while smaller already has a higher resolution display let alone the 4S successor.
I don't get it. You know the roadmap, you know when and what will happen with windows phone spec-wise. If you don't like it, get another phone. WP is still smooth as fuck, without a 2 GHz quad-core and honestly, that's all I want from my phone. A higher res would be nice, but I know the next phones will get it, which is what I'll get and why i still have my first gen optimus 7.
Apollo brings the new kernel so we can get new hardware. Not that the current hardware doesn't already run smooth. It honestly does at the current single core spec with 512 RAM.
I'm personally more looking for a screen upgrade. 800 x 480 just isn't going to cut it in 2012, and we aren't going to be getting bigger screens until Apollo hits. I'll also assume a processor bump might be good in conjunction with a screen resolution bump to keep everything as smooth as it is currently. This will especially help companies like HTC that keep making larger phones like the Titan I/II.
Then again I know a lot of people are hyped about the Nokia 910, but I think you're crazy to buy a phone in 2012 with an 800 x 480 screen.
Voice recognition seems to be poor. I sometimes need to say the name of the person several times before it recognises them. Other times I need say it only once, and its the same name in both cases by the way (as an example)

I feel that the less forced you pronounce it the better are the results
