I love that you guys are talking about anything and everything except football in the NFL thread, instead of venturing out to the outer realms of GAF OT. This place is like your own private Fallout Vault.

This season doesn't even count, so there's no reason to talk football.

Indianapolis - Though the NFL has not released exact figures on the 2012 salary cap limit, all indications are that the number will remain flat this year.

That means teams can expect the salary cap to be around $120 million again.

In the case of the Green Bay Packers, that's not all bad news.

According to a source with access to NFL salary information, the Packers have $113,356,169 dedicated to their '12 salary cap, leaving them roughly $7 million to deal with free agents like TE Jermichael Finley, C Scott Wells, RB Ryan Grant and CB Jarrett Bush.

That's not a bad position to be in given that the Packers have 63 players under contract. Only the top 51 count against the cap, a total which reaches roughly $110.9 million.

But the Packers also have $2,429,818 of so-called "dead" money or salary cap charges left over from players they released or traded after June 1 of last year. That figure vaults their obligation to $113.3 million.

For all those who think the Packers can put a franchise tag on QB Matt Flynn and then trade him, consider that the Packers would have to fit in the $14 million one-year tender by releasing players.

They also would need to have a deal in place with Finley so that he could not walk away an unrestricted free agent. So, to do the Flynn maneuver, they'd have to sign Finley (and the others) AND find a way to clear $10 million to $14 million off their cap.

It's not going to happen.

Edit: Beaten.

I like Breaking Bad but it's starting to go downhill... has been since S3 imo they just didn't cover it up as well.

Certain stories you just need to end quickly.

My panasonic has it built in. It's also in Roku players. I'm waiting for it to get on Boxee.

I thought season four was amazing personally. Season three was good, but it took some time to get into because season two ended so crazily.

Yea Offseason threads are mine. I will have this one ready to go in advance. I may even start it after the Pats go up on the Giants by 21 in the 2nd.

Gronk has a EXTREMELY annoying face. Reminds me of this asshole I knew from HS.

What else would ESPN be talking about if he wasn't injured?

No wonder Eli got better after Shockey got hurt in 2007...

Also add Tiki to that mix and Eli was always fucked..

The panel asked Toomer about Eli's leadership early on in his career from Rookie leading to up to 07.

Toomer said that when Eli came into the looker room as a rookie. He did not take that role because he wanted to be respectful to his veteran teammates. Most of the vets understood it, but namely Jeremy Shockey took advantage of it early on.

Quoting from Toomer: " He would go into the huddle always pull on him, always try to make him not get through his read by saying hey I'm open I'm open. And those were the type of things that a young QB cannot really handle. And there is no question in my mind that reason why after Jeremy Shockey in 2007 got injured Eli's play went up. Because he did not have that distraction in the huddle"

Did he score three touchdowns against your team or something? Gronk has done exactly nothing to piss anyone off besides be a happy go lucky 22 year old that fucks women. Boo fucking hoo!

You can add Burress to that list, as well. Yeah, he was on the 2008 team, but he wasn't passed to as much (but still was garnering a ton of attention defensively) and Eli played solid football. Ever since losing big heads like Barber, Shockey, and Plax, it allowed Eli to take over and have it become his offense, and importantly, his team. Those guys were ones to get in the way and rather it be about themselves than the team.

Greg Jennings was on Mike and Mike this morning to do a quick interview. Never followed the guy much but I was impressed. He came off as a very eloquent, intelligent and a downright nice dude. He's got a good future as a commentator when he's done with the game if he has any interest.

Yeah, he is a really, really impressive guy. Polar opposite of HoFinley. Totally humble, genuinely caring and (seemingly) sincere in everything he does. He is also hilarious.

You Patriots fans are far too concerned with what your players do with dicks. "BOOHOO TOM BRADY FUCKS SUPERMODELZ. BOO HOO GRONK FUCKS WOMINZ BOOHOO CHAD SUCKS..."

Well, you get the idea.

Not surprising, but it doesn't seem likely Burress will be a Jet next season:

http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/jetsblog/burress_likely_burning_bridge_to_AiFiPzOwiWg1E9ZCOD7lCM

The most telling short answer came when he was asked what he thought of Mark Sanchez as a quarterback.

"Mark Sanchez is Mark Sanchez," Burress said.

When he was asked what he thought of the criticism heaped on Sanchez since the Jets season ended, Burress did not stick up for the third-year quarterback.

Instead, he said, "I haven't entertained any of it."

Don't count on seeing Burress back in a Jets uniform in 2012. Burress spoke to reporters from The Post and NBC after the show at the NFL Experience. He was expansive and happy when talking about the Giants appearing in the Super Bowl and his memories of Super Bowl XLII in 2008. Whenever the topic turned to the Jets, his answers were succinct and the smile vanished from his face.

Asked if he was happy with how his year with the Jets went, he said, "It went as it went."

Asked if he thought the Jets used him to the best of his capabilities, he said, "They used me the way they wanted to use me."

Pressed about his opinion of how they used him, he said, "I just answered your question."

Yep, one of the coolest guys in the league.
