Try to find some people in Neogaf that are willing to play with noobs or noobs themselves (like me) and go matchmaking with them. I had some good games over last few days with CeramicSteve, ProGrizzly, philthy, max, Seta souji, etc.

Also, what I usually do is go to playdota.com, select the hero I'm playing, then click on the highest rated guide, and lvl up and buy items according to that guide.

Thank you, wasn't aware of that site. How do GAF members typically get together? Is there a channel?

The only problem with that playdota site is that they use icons for items, and since dota1 icons look different from dota2 icons, it can be hard to figure out what the !@#$ it's supposed to be. Beats me why they don't show the name while hovering over it with your mouse.

And it's extra conusing for people like me who have never played og dota.

Thanks for the IH guide and the Mumble info, guys.

I don't mind salt, and I love criticism, but I don't want to hear "You're a fucking idiot" constantly. If you tell me what I did wrong I'm more than happy to suck it up. If you just tell me I'm wrong you can fuck off :).

I'm going to play some more pubs and then once I've steeled my courage jump into an IH.

Yeah, the dota 2 community doesn't seem friendly to newbies. My only moba experience is a little bit of LoL. So I'm not only new to the game but the genre. And boy do people let me have it in chat. lol.

The AL vs Panzor game was pretty nice, just fun to watch the game to be fairly even, then AL to just really exploited a few mistakes from Panzor. Though to be honest, looking at the levels from Panzor, I think they would of had issues even if they didn't have that bad team fight, Lich and Veno had no levels. BoT Marina would of likely been really good if they were able to make the game go longer, but AL ended it fast.

Next up is AL vs mTw, sadly mTw is out if they win or not. Hoping mTw does something off the wall since the game doesn't actually matter.

So I played my first ever winning match last night. I used Mirana. I'm not sure if I'm playing her correctly, but I seem to be effective. I went 2-2-12.

I worked my lane most of the time, but if I ever noticed an imbalance in our favor I'd do the following: open with the sleep arrow from out of line of sight, use the jump to get close, then then starfall and move to max range for standard attacks. As you can tell I never got the last hit... I'd put most units down 30-50% of their health then whoever else was there would clean up.

Both of my deaths were points where I had my head up my ass. One I was jacking around on one of the secret markets looking at what was available and got jumped (yea I still dont know the items very well) and the other was just old fashioned getting cocky.

We won fairly handily, but I never found much use for the her invisible ult since most of my engagements started from surprise anyway.

I've also found I can't drink and play this game. Just one beer and my play level drops really badly. I have to concentrate all the time.

Can any one help me with a venomancer build? I am pretty new to this game and trying suggested item build.tried vanguard+arcane boots+rings of Basilius+Shadowblade last time, but still no clear idea about items.

Archie I can see ourselves getting along really quickly! ar and sd are my favorite modes too. CD is a quick second, then rest don't matter xD

Venomancer is ultra flexible. Most common skill build is Gale 1, Sting 2, Wards 3, 4, 5, 7, Ult at 6 then you max Gale afterwards and Sting last.

Item build is once again flexible. You typically build supportish items around what your team needs. Common items to build are Power Treads, Mana Boots (especially important if playing against Invoker), Vanguard, Pipe, Drum, Force Staff, Mekanism, and Scepter.

But can you buy boots?

And we all know the answer to that. :D

I believe you mean a TP scroll.

I thought I was improving in this game for a while but can't seem to sort myself in IHs at all. Can't seem to last hit or keep up with team throughout.

Feel like I need to random MM more as practice and stop hopping into IHs whenever possible.

if you wanna improve, you just gotta stop playing with milkman, either on his side, or against him.

unless he's playing hard support.

Ah yeah, playing with milk is a good way to get rewarded for playing bad. I think playing against him is good though, I midded against him once and I was fucked. He really knows how to capitalise on the tiniest mistakes, so laning against him is a good way to increase your powerlevel.

Not to mention pushing lineups.

If you are playing AM and not banning or picking the top pushers, you got outpicked and deserve to lose.

Pushing will only really counter AM when Lycan and Lone Druid are added. And than people will be wishing for AM

Not enough bans and way too many good choices to truly hamstring pushing lineups. If AM wants to get big, he really needs his team to be able to blunt the push with strength of their own in that regard.

And even if AM's team is equal to the task, you still have profound ability to take advantage of openings and good teamfights.

I am not looking forward to syllabear, at all. Such a dick.

SK, Enigma, and Puck for DD in this game. Could lead to some hilarious team fights.

Does not bode well. The push potential from the draft seemed more or less even last game, and Infused were pushed to death (taking 1 tower and losing 5, and then a barracks). That Enigma for DD could be very troublesome.

Edit: Lol, 10 minute Battlefury for Antimage. DD's pushing power (not to mention farming power) just went through the roof.
