What's funny is that the only people who got those hats were The International participants. I doubt Dendi is going to ever play TF2.

Beta testing a beta.

Also going to split the community, seems like a pretty strange move.

So I got an invite yesterday.

The text is hard to read and graphics are...unfinished I guess? Skeleton king is who I'm playing now cause the other skeleton guy was an archer. I don't know what I'm doing so I just kill the little soldiers and run when another hero comes. I played a little bit of LoL but I always got beat really badly and I hated how crazy OP mages were. I won 2 games and lost 1 because 2 people on my team left. The 2nd game I was the archer and I kept dying to that red sorceress, hated her, one spell lowered my health past half all the time!

I'm kinda clueless on how to play though.

Noooooooooo

@HK: It'd be kinda odd if it was merely a chronicle of canon. It's really odd in that it's almost all fan-fiction. Who made it, and why?

Yep. With two different versions to play (testing and stable) the player base might be a bit segmented. I guess the testing version is essentially what we were on now, and the stable version is just a one-week delay of the testing version to iron out bugs.

Which will GAF play? The test version gets updates faster, and is essentially what we've been playing on up until now if I'm reading it correctly.

Update will also come out in the coming days, so just a bit longer!

Aww. Well at least there's an update actually coming this week still. Just treat this like Ursa week where we had to wait a bit longer.

And Botolf, the scariest thing about that picture is that Broodmother and Nerubian assassin being lovers IS ACTUALLY IN THE DOTA 1 LORE. OH GOD WHY

Found this on reddit

I think the current client is essentially Live and the Test is the new beta, but it's still all in closed beta.

lol

I don't see the real problem with it, they said they're doing it so it's easier to add features and whatnot without destroying everything. The vast majority of the userbase will play the [Test] version without a doubt. Most tournament players will probably be playing on the [Live] version. NOT a big deal at all. It's a lot like the [Current] and [Stable] versions of Dota 1.

I will be playing [Test] for the new heroes and I'm assuming most of GAF will, too.

Beetles and spiders, that's an unholy union man.

I really don't see why they do that though...

T'was long enough to find a match at time now, now imagine if it's split...ugh...

Beta of a beta make no sense.

Now they can actually release stuff that isn't totally finished. It was really a beta in name only before. There were some things that popped up every week but usually the stuff they released was very polished.

Starcraft 2 beta had something like this right? A Public Test Realm?

Still has. They do some bigger patches on PTR (public test realm) before adding it to the full game

But if I remember correctly this was implemented only after release so they wouldn't ruin the game with bad patches.

Team fortress 2 still uses this. I personally think it is silly to do during beta but great to do once the game goes retail. They better be sending a crap load more invites out because once they split the community it is gonna affect matchmaking wait times a lot.

Hell, even Counter-Strike: Source still has this. I have it installed, I don't even remember the last time they updated that. They should just remove it really, think the last big update they did was their final one. Will be more focused on CS:GO now anyway.

The TF2 beta still gets updated once every few months, but still barely worth it, almost no servers up for it either.

I kinda understand for Dota 2 but still, wish there was an easier way. But if it means they can update faster and better it's fine.

Ah alright, I feel leshrac is wasted in a supporting role. His harass is really nice, and I guess he can keep a carry safe, but it just feels like underachieving haha.

Kind of a weird build for leshrac, ideally you want mana regen to be about 30/tick, just so you can keep your ult up while you spam your spells for aoe dps. Kind of odd to see leshrac take on a more passive role.

That's what happens when you go 1-7 the first 35 minutes.

The learning curve is waaaay overstated.

I went from literally never having touched a MOBA, to holding my own to dominating in a couple of days. And that's without even knowing how to create an AI match.

Once Valve gets that tutorial in, it's gonna be even easier.

It's an amazing game. Stick with it.

Not to take anything away from you or call you out or anything but who exactly are you dominating after just a couple of days of play?

He could be playing an easy hero and be on a good premade team against public teams. Regardless, that's good because learning all the quirks about the map is something very important in this game.

with RTS coming in first

either you're a super gaming genius or you were playing against new players
