I would go out with Hope Solo and not have sex with her and come back and make a thread on Gaf about it just to brag that it could have happened.

so whats worse NY Jets fans, living with the giants bragging they won another super bowl, or seeing the patriots with another super bowl? which one would sting less?

There is no right answer.

Think I'd rather see the Patriots win this time just because I can't deal with relatives (mainly my pops) shit talking yet again.

If you need any more reason to avoid those ban bait threads.

I was legitimately shocked to see how many people in the MLB/NFL/NHL/etc. threads actually felt that sports were meaningful and important activities.

I don't mean you can't enjoy them, mind you; I enjoy baseball personally, for example. I just fully recognize that it is ultimately trivial and silly, no different than a person who enjoys shoe shopping or going to romantic comedy films.

Very few people seemed to agree with that and instead argued that sports are genuinely meaningful. I supposed I thought GAF was above such silliness, but clearly I was wrong. Many GAF members correctly understand that video games are trivial as well, for example, but I suppose there are likely more members who think games are genuinely meaningful than I anticipate, too.

Frankman had to learn the hard way that we're being targeted. RIP Michael Clayton Connection.

This is the fourth time in my entire life that I will not be watching the Superbowl with my father and the first time not watching it with my son. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

That may be the most self-absorbed, self-important quote I have ever read on GAF. That is saying a whole helluva lot.

New tag huh? I just think that guy just doesn't have perspective on what makes sports so great. You said it much better and more succinctly than I did.

Since we still have to fill 4,5 hours, how is the ICO/SotC HD collection? I bought it 2 days ago, but still haven't played it.

I've been playing SotC in 3D and it's fucking fantastic. ICO was great as well. Especially if you've never played the games originally.

Was thinking of getting that, but haven't yet. Liked SoTC on the PS2, haven't played ico. Colossus could definately benefit from better resolution and framerate.

I recently picked up Portal 2 and Uncharted 3, not sure which to play first.

Where do things stop being trivial and start being meaningful? "Stuff" only has meaning because we give it meaning. Shitty opinion on his part in my opinion.

Is the "blur" present in 3D? It seems like it would bother me.

I've only played ICO on PS2, but never was able to find a used SotC that didn't cost like 50 bucks so this should be cool. Always heard that SotC was amazing.

I really liked UC3, Portal 2 is supposed to be great as well, but it's not my kind of game.

Some people just don't enjoy the commitment to an emotional roller coaster I suppose? I think the problem is that his post can be applied to just about everything because it's ridiculously easy to be nihilistic about every little thing in life.

See the thing is that when the Packers win, it's both an affirmation for Wisconsin sports and that my life long allegiance is rewarded. I may not really contribute to the team's success outside of financial contributions but part of that financial vestment also adds to the pride that I feel when the team does well.

So basically between the choice of caring and not caring, I find that caring is far more enjoyable instead of asking "what's the point?" to things.

I hope Wellington isn't going to jinx the Giants by being there.

Also, I fear for what he might break if a laptop isn't nearby!

seems like some holier than thou nerd shit

Alright I'm headed out to get drunk and watch the game.

Go Pats!

Good luck to the Giants, as long as Antonio Pierce isn't on the team anymore I don't have a problem with them!

17-14 Pats just because

I'm only watching this because I'm from NY and the giants are playing, does that make me a bad fan.

But I watched the last game with the 49ers and was surprisingly entertained. I may get into football permanently after this, but it would really suck if I watched all year and my team didn't make it. How do people do it? I throw a hissy fit whenever Yankees don't make it but at least football is only once a week and not every day.

I know the ramifications of this game though and what it means to patriots as an organization, what it means for eli manning etc. all of that so I'll be into this game for sure.

Because there is always next season. Especially in football were teams could go from bad to good rather quickly, you failed this season, get ready for next season.
