"We decapitated them," he said. "They can't wear that crown no more."

"They're not a big-play team," Jacobs said. "I don't think their offense is like Green Bay's. I think Green Bay's offense and wideouts are definitely better."

"They've got more big-play players on Green Bay's team, so really, we weren't really worried."

"I would've been a little bit nervous if it was one of those two with 57 seconds because they've got a big-play outfit," he said.

For a well balanced game, sounds really weird. The way the teams are constructed any of the three teams mentioned can be offensively explosive.

Sucks that your team is so much worse than Green Bay though.

I know, I'm doing the best I can though.

Anyone think the 12 men penalty that the giants got at the end was deliberate? They gave up 5 yards for about 10seconds off the clock which seems like a pretty good trade.

I thought that was silly myself. Theoretically any team can just load the field full of players to waste the clock. It should just be a free play without time consequences.

Interesting article. Don't agree with everything on it, but it points out a few key stats:

Maybe the stats don't bear this out or I haven't watched Brady enough, but I feel like just as he is strong at timing his receivers, making good reads, and throwing quickly, he seems weak at throwing the deep ball, responding to pressure in the pocket, or throwing into tight coverage when necessary. In that entire excellent drive ending the first half, there were at best two throws that weren't to a wide open receiver iirc.

Actually, thinking about it now, it almost seems like Eli excels at the areas Brady is weak at and vice versa.

I do think it was deliberate. The Patriots should have been awarded a touchdown through the palpably unfair act rule.

If you do it repeatedly and deliberately, it's an awarded touchdown to the offense.

Also, if it was clear that's what the defense was doing, the smart thing would be for the quarterback to just spike the ball. A loss of 1 second or less and a 5 yard gain.

The 12 men on field penalty wasn't intentional.

If you look at the play, Brady snapped the ball before the Giants defense was entirely ready. People were still shuffling around, and the 12th man (Justin Tuck, helmet off) was running to the sideline. His being on the field didn't help the Giants defend that pass.

That said, it's probably a rules loophole that should be closed.

It shouldn't have to come down to that. Not saying the Giants did it deliberately for the record.

Not going to be depressed anymore!

Ravens are going to resign Rice, Lardarius, and Grubbs, everyone else can walk for all I care.

Going to sign Mario Williams, Vincent Jackson, and Brent Grimes.

Torrey Smith and Jimmy Smith are going to take big leaps next year.

Pernell McPhee is going to be a stud.

Getting positive! I mean how can I not when the Orioles just traded Jeremy Guthrie for Jason Hammell and Matt Lindstrom! World Series!!!!

Brady usually does take a knee when he reads an illegal substitution.

You were shocked? Really?

You are suggesting that I follow the Giants. I live in a area where there is a very healthy Giants fan base, but I don't have a historical record of every time he has opened his mouth.

That being said, the surprising fact is that he is not going to have a team in the very near future.

Well, congrats Giants gaf. Must feel good to win a title, Can't be bitter, though. Your organization has been awfully good to some former Spartans!

And, as BigAT pointed out to me, Greg Jones got engaged after the game. And MSU beat those ugly Wolverines the other day and reiterated their ownage of Ann Arbor's soul.

Good Weekend

Nope, Jacobs inability to not talk shit is pretty well known though. It was only a matter of time until he let loose again.

I have a feeling he'll be willing to take a pretty big pay cut to retire a Giant. Nothing to back that up and I don't know if the team even wants him back but the realization that he's not likely to get much of a look from any other team is likely to set in eventually.

I really hope he and Herzlich both come on with a full offseason to develop.

The fact that he played an integral role in helping the team win the NFC Championship game must craw at the side of Skins fans.

I don't see why they would want him back. If I were the Giants I would be looking to draft a RB starting now to pair with Bradshaw or surpass.

Come on, that second round draft pick you wasted on him has to hurt a little.;)

Giants might still have faith that DJ Ware can turn into something.
Da'Rel Scott, please. Get this kid to the level where he can pass protect and he has the speed to be dangerous.

Pass protection. He can still flash that power back role, but he's excellent in pass protection. As is Bradshaw.

Jacobs best quality now is picking up the blitz, he's better than AB in that area, and his chips on DE's are fucking brutal hits, when we played SF in week 10 i remember him taking out 2 blitzers at once it was fucking beautiful play...

yeah so if you won the Super Bowl w/ Vinny Cerrato now that would sting :), I would welcome such as move. I'm sure the Panthers are rolling over for not keeping him either. Has he learned to run any routes yet?

Salary cap.

:jnc no but then he was a special teamer first and foremost and we didn't waste a round pick on him. So win/win. I don't even know how many catches he had for the season to be honest...

EDIT: 3 catches for 37 yards. He learned to run three routes!

I always want to pull for the AFC, but something about the Pats just makes me hate the shit out of them...

...prob the rings. :/

At least the Pats won a couple playoff games this year. That's progress, right?

I dunno. They beat a clearly overmatched Tebow and Brady was outplayed by Flacco before the Ravens choked it away. They made the Super Bowl closer than I thought it would be though. They just seem to be frauds to be honest, not because of cheating, but because they skate by during the regular season on maximizing the minimal talent on their roster and the effort of a good QB but when they face real tough teams, they'll lose more often than not imo.
