Double Fine Adventure Kickstarter project by Double Fine [ended, $3.3 Million funded]

Wow, almost at 800k!
I'll donate 30, I hope this turns out well.
I'd definitely donate for a PC version of Demons Souls or a Doom sequel in the Brutal Doom vein or a proper Blood 2 by Monolith.

I chipped in a bit last night when it was around ~$150k. Woke up to see the total and was like O_o

This is amazing to watch!

ps: first post (yay)

I thought it had already picked up a few hundred thousand bucks? Or did I remember wrong?
I discussed it in the HW3 thread and people said they had ended at about 100k from the needed 400k (euros) and their project says "finished" on that site and that whole site itself is "rethinking the concept" so it doesn't sound like things went well.

If they did though, sweet, can't wait to see it.

I wonder if you can start a Kickstarter to crowdsource money to hit a certain pledge tier in another Kickstarter project (like if you wanted Dudebro in this new game [50k])...

I hope it encourages them to give the same SE treatment to DOTT that MI 1&2 got.

If they wanna "justify costs" or whatever I don't even care if they do that. The new look thing on the MIs were kinda ugly, but they let me turn it off so no complaints. Just throw the rom dumps gog's way and they'll make a nice little dosbox package for it. All they have to do. It would cost them all of the money of the bandwitdh of sending them the file. Gog has the audience already that would buy it. It's practically free money.

I wonder what Telltale Games thinks of this.

They ain't no DoubleFine, tho

well, they kind of did the same thing, on a much smaller level. they got people to pay upfront for all the episodes before they'd finished the first episode even, so they funded later development with good will purchases, essentially.

Yeah, difference is they always show something before taking preorders.

I'm not even a fan of point and click adventure games and I'm gonna donate $15-$30. I absolutely love this concept and hope it succeeds. Shit like this is what the industry needs

oh, also, i meant to say, to everyone who is supporting this that ISN'T a fan of adventure games... from the bottom of my heart as a massive adventure game fan...

we tight now.

I assume that this game that they are making is Ron Gilberts secret game he has been working on since joining Double Fine?

Which means that it will not be a rushed game developed to prove a point. Instead it will be a project that already has much pre-production made, and is based on a concept Ron Gilbert has had in his mind since Maniac Mansion.

And that now has more funds available that they actually needed.

That is........awesome.

I keep refreshing DF's Kickstarter page to see how much money they've earned. I'm so amazed, I'm really interested in seeing them break $1 million.

What if we make this a little more interesting and start a gentlemen bet on how much this pledge will get in the end? Hmmm.

Might as well post it here too: on twitter Chris Avellone expressed interest in kickstarting an old school RPG.
This is becoming huge, I can feel it. (or at least it's just what I'm hoping.)

Man, this Double Fine model is amazing. $675K in a day? They should do the same with Firefly, @NathanFillion, just saying...

Shit, I hoped they would talk about Psychonauts 2 in that meeting.

They are personally meeting up at GDC to talk about it more. Psychonauts 2 will probably end up happening and with Double Fine now knowing they have a lot of fans they could probably due another kick starter if Notch's money isnt quite enough.

I would give money to this project right away as well. Probably more than I gave to DF.

Monkey Island and Planescape are like my favorite games ever.

I would also contribute to that project, but I would hope that any money in excess of the projected development costs would go toward QA and bugfixes.

Man, Sony can't catch a break. Lol.

After sleeping on it last night decided to up my offer. Was debating between a Vita or that signed poster and felt the poster would be more special and limited.
