Here's a pretty interesting interview with Drinkbox Studios about porting About a Blob: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/39842/PSN_dev_Drinkbox_Studios_on_porting_code_to_miniPS3_quality_Vita_hardware.php

How much, if at all, easier has Vita development been compared to your PSN/PS3 experience?

Much easier. I think Sony has made a real effort to improve their development pipeline and simplify the hardware. While setting up a PS3 for the first time can be a bit of a pain, the PC development environment is much better on the Vita, and is similar to the X360 approach. The GPU and CPU profiling tools are coming along nicely and are already very useful.

Yet Uncharted GA is $50.

So, Amazon.it lowered the price of the console, so now my preorder summary is:
Vita WiFi+Memory Card 8GB+Pre-Order box+Everybody's Golf = 266.22€

I almost feel guilty. :D

Amazon.de has something like that as well, I will torture myself over the weekend whether to buy it or not.

just played a round of modnation (it finally dled over my uni internet). i have to go to a meeting now so i didn't get to do more than a quick race (not in career mode).

• controls great
• framerate is a bit shitty
• definitely not native res (for those that care)

i'm a bit disappointed with the framerate, since it isn't even running at native res.

i'll post screenshots tonight.

Disappointing to see they didn't fix the framerate before launch. Sub native resolution seems to be common at the moment.

Interesting. Let us know about the editor too.

i just went into near (i have wifi model) on my university's wifi. it didn't have any trouble finding my location like it did at my house, and there were 3 people nearby playing haha. pretty sweet!

I can't see anywhere on the Vita store that indicates remaining funds in the PSN account - hopefully they'll add that in too. Actually, they should just monitor this thread for suggestions :P

Honestly, I don't think there will be better bundles or offers in many months, at least in Italy. And since I don't want to wait till, let's say, December (or later), to me it is a no-brainer.

I just bought it...good thing it's only $30. I wonder they didn't jack up the price like with every other Vita title.

Sure, I don't think much will beat Vita + 8GB card + game for ~270EUR for many months. I'm just afraid we won't have many games to play after Gravity Rush hits in May.

Then again, I really want one. There is something strangely relaxing/easy with just sitting and playing the game on a small screen. I played a lot on PSP, nowadays I need to force myself to even turn on the PS3 or my PC.

You sure they were actual people? Friend of mine encountered 17 people with a Japanese Vita in his vicinity (in Europe). Turned out Near saved every location he's been to and registered it as other Vita owners.

anyone know the last day to preorder the FEB? a buddy of mine took a good half hour with my Vita and now wants one asap, but can't put the money down until his next paycheck.

Picked up goodies on the way back- very excited about the Cradle- imported 8GB mem card, but happy to go higher. Exciting times ahead for Vita GAF!

The main reason I'm getting one is for the fighting games and the fact that my wife is pregnant so I can foresee my gaming life on the couch diminishing rapidly: especially since her parents are coming for an extended visit from overseas right around her due date. It's a defense mechanism really ;)

That First Edition case is so much nicer than I thought aesthetically.
Glad I got it.

I'm probably importing the white leather case from Japan still.

I got this white leather case, love it, and love how it's cushioned inside to the shape of the vita, allowing for the sticks etc

Just got off the phone with escalated mgmnt from Amazon.com (I kinda do a ton of business with them). I explained the fact that items on the .ca website for the Vita are in customers hands. Their reaction initially was to state that street date laws and regulations are different for other countries, although they were unaware of the street date for the standard 3G/wifi or wifi version in .ca being the 22nd.

Their reaction to me proving people have Amazon.ca shipped Vitas after saying that wasn't possible was ... "Whaaaaaaa????" Well, we have to honor the street dates here in the US, and it must have been an oversite. In either case, this time, the US has lost the war.

So I'm "trying out" my official Sony travel case.
The game cart holders are kind of too loose. If I have the case upside down and shake a bit, they fall out of the holders and float around in the travel case.

Although I bought and like the cradle it was the biggest rip off ever for a tiny piece of plastic with no weight

So playing some uncharted, I noticed that my screen has some of that blotchyness which was discussed in the Japanese launch thread. It's very hard to notice though.

Yeah, looks like Release Date Delivery folks might get screwed. My order status is unchanged, and if they sell through their stock with new orders, I'm going to lose my shit.

my release-date delivery order is shipping soon

not worried, the estimated delivery date on orders gets bumped up fairly often

Man, it's Canadian Bacon all over again:/

My 8 gig card and games shipped, and will be delivered tomorrow. Might want to cancel and reorder.

Does it show "shipping soon?"

It's says "Not Yet Shipped" on Uncharted Golden Abyss and the 32 GB memory card. I don't understand why Amazon can't get this right.

Just picked up my Uncharted: Golden Abyss from GameStop!

Something I found funny and depressing at the same time: It took them 10 or so minutes to actually locate the game, after having to call someone(I'd assume their manager or a fellow employee) to find out just where the hell they were. I was listening in on the conversation and heard the male employee tell the female employee that the "Vita games are in the employee rest room".

Swear to God. No joke. You just can't make stuff like this up.

Anyway, I'm working on getting some pictures up of the game. I'll put them on here if anyone is interested.

Whats the big deal if Amazon doesnt ship the games out? The Vita isnt out until the 15th so its not like we can do anything with them.

Does the Vita play 1080p videos? Yes...I know it won't play them at that resolution, but can it play them downsized?

Finally pre-ordered. And weirdly I've gone for Virtua Tennis as my first game. Not sure what else I'll get if I can grab stuff from PSN.

There's no issues with swapping out memory cards regularly is there? I mean my account details will be "safe" right?

The shit-can is actually used for storage of new consoles, and a bunch of used things at the one I worked at for a short demonic time I was there.

While funny, that's actually the case at a lot of the stores around where I live. They're pretty popular stores for their size, so the entirety of the backroom/bathroom is always filled with stock. Was funny going back there and having just enough room to stand and maybe sit in a folding chair, lol.

i'm not concerned about the games. i'm worried about the memory cards. remember how hard it was to find a memory card at the ps2 launch. took months before you could get one after the initial launch supply was gone. my major concern is the fact that people can order a 32 gig memory card right now yet my preorder from a month ago still hasn't shipped. what if they sell out?

Employees have no clue about their stock.

Eww! Don't post that stuff!
Now I can't help but think of all the poop particles and stuff all over my boxes. :(
There goes my plan of becoming a games journalist by licking my Vita box and posting it on the internet.

Lol, I was a EBGames store manager when the Playstation 2 launched. Yeah, Those consoles were all in the can all the time.... although those boxes were wrapped in a nice blue bag protecting the boxes. In a small store like those places in a mall, when a new console launches... the can is a second storage closet.
