I played with one at GameStop yesterday when I unsuccessfully tried to get a Circle Pad Pro, thing is gorgeous. The analog sticks are a little strange at first, but it doesn't really take much to get used to them.
I ended up buying an 8gb cart on Amazon which should get here the 15th, and prepordered Uncharted and a WiFi version at the Toys R Us across the street. No midnight release but I'll just grab it after work.
I'm going to try out digital distribution for a couple of the games and see how it works, and I have a few PSP games I got on PSN for free to try backwards compatibility. Pretty exited.

Thats a good point. I dont think Amazon will sell through their preorders but you never know.
If its any consolation, some Gamestops are selling them already. Maybe call around and see if they have any? If they do, cancel Amazon and pick up in store?
I reserved a 32GB card from Amazon. They no longer let me cancel my order because its status is "shipping soon" and my card has been charged yet my est delivery is still the 15th.

Hmm, I didn't realize so many games were not compatible with the Vita. I'm really disappointed that Dracula X Chronicles isn't available.That was one of my most played games. No EXIT, no Killzone, no Thexder Neo, no Gradius Collection, no Megaman Powered Up, no Darius Burst (though that was never available in the US to begin with).
I saw the compatibility list here. Some other PSP games that are conspicuous by their absence:
- LittleBigPlanet
- ModNation Racers
- Resistance: Retribution
- Super Stardust Portable
- Wipeout Pure
- Wipeout Pulse
- Both Hot Shots Golf games
- The entire MLB The Show series
In short, any first-party PSP game that has an announced PS Vita sequel is not on the list.
It'll change when it's shipped, even in stock things I ordered had the estimate change once they actually shipped. Or failing that came before the estimate anyway (like the FFXIII-2 guide).

I changed my Amazon pre-orders from release date shipping to 2-day shipping this morning when I saw they were in stock. My cradle and uncharted already shipped andshould be here tomorrow, and wipeout is now set to "shipping soon."
Some of those have been confirmed to work if you download them to the PS3 first then copy later, I believe.

I mean, I order the First Edition bundle expecting to receive it early, and Amazon.ca has yet to even update the First Edition bundle page nor give me any updates on the status of my order, instead only listing the expected delivery date as Feb 23rd...
I know I said I would give until today, but I have no interest in fiddling with any orders right now, so I'll wait until tomorrow and then cancel the order if I get no updates.

When I worked part-time at a Gamestop back in 2007, all of the new and used consoles were stored in the bathroom. There's just not enough room in those small stores, the backrooms are typically very small and aren't intended for storage.
I'm a fairly tall guy and when I'd take a shit, my knees touched the stack of 360's in front of me. That's how cramped it was.

Damnit, I had to get on the horn as I had already taken care of my 32GB the other day with Amazon but now it's showing up on separate orders and has an April ship date. I even told the rep that some are saying that it's shipping now and even on the store page it says that I can have it by Saturday if I order within 23 hours. I just want the card before Wednesday (much like the screen protector).
I'm in chat now to sort this out but the other day I actually talked to a rep and I asked all the questions and made sure that this was very clear in that I wanted my 2 games AND the 32GB to arrive together.

oh fuck, this is what i was afraid of. i don't see how it is possible that they have already sold out but i guess you never know. maybe they had a really small allotment. makes me worry about my feb preorder. i had a wifi model preordered since the day the amazon preorders became available. last month i cancelled it and switched to a feb. hope they have plenty.

I sure hope so. I've got MNR and Super Stardust Portable as downloads. I'll be getting Super Stardust Delta anyway, and maybe MNR: Road Trip after they patch it for online multiplayer, but I wouldn't mind having my PSP versions on the Vita as well.
With that being said, it just seems awfully telling that those particular games are missing. I just noticed MotorStorm: Arctic Edge is not there, also, despite the Vita game being a very different design. It could be some weird first-party thing, as a very large number of first-party games are missing, but there are a few on there like Patapon 2 (which I have in downloadable form), Daxter, Eye of Judgment Legends, and both God of War games.

To be clear, this is mainly about the 32GB but yeah, this is something of an error that I didn't cause. I want to give my money and just expect them to do it the way I asked. Customer service is taking care of me right now and I will bring back the end to the tale.

The main reason I'm getting one is for the fighting games and the fact that my wife is pregnant so I can foresee my gaming life on the couch diminishing rapidly: especially since her parents are coming for an extended visit from overseas right around her due date. It's a defense mechanism really
Since moving in with my partner last year, PC gaming has been almost wiped from existence and console gaming is going the way of the dodo - handhelds

Just play the waiting game, they'll be coming. The Vita will release officially on 22th.
LittleBigPlanet, Wipeout Pure and Hot Shots Golf (first one) definitely work on Vita. I've transferred them over with no problems. I don't have the other games so I can't test them.
If a game isn't on PSN you just have to download it and transfer it through the PS3. I have about 20 PSN PSP games, they all transferred with no problems.
i guarantee you if amazon's customer service can do anything about it they will. they are the best in the biz.
This is not true for all games. It doesn't work for MGS: Portable Ops, for example. Not yet, anyway.
Weird. While my girlfriend doesn't live with me, she stays over Thursday -> Monday and during that time we both play lots of video games. You guys are just suckers.

I wanted to buy Gods Eater, but not being on the list bothers me. You say LBP and HSG work (but aren't on the list), but Phantasy Star doesn't work and isn't on the list. :/ Blah

Any news on Monster Hunter being released? I might grab a vita if I see one in the wild because of Hotshots Golf and UMVC3

And they did. They basically did this as as favor and one time thing but offered to send it all at once even though I guess I should have paid more shipping but the first rep didn't tell me that. I mean it's not that hard to stuff a little card in between the 2 games and ship it all together instead of charging me over night for it separately. It was ace service and it even tacked off a few dollars with the way it added up. Excellent service!
And what do you know, that order now says shipping soon. Just before the service chat, it said not shipped. THings are a movin!
I'm referring to the HSG, Wipeout, 32GB order. Maybe they will ship it now hahaha!

This is why I think Sony is deliberately with holding back PS1 support for a while, so that back PS1 titles won't compete with Vita games. Which admittedly sounds silly, but most of the RPGs still hold up pretty well today.
Oh really? That's a shame..
Since all my games transferred over I figured everything worked - my bad. I should also mention I'm having some trouble transferring my PS Plus minis over, although I haven't spent a ton of time trying different methods since I'd probably never play them anyway.
BTW any news on getting the Vita to work with Media Go? Using the PS3 as a file manager kinda sucks and the 'Vita Content Manager' windows app is garbage.

I doubt that's coming, seeing as all the file handling and copy operations etc are done on the Vita itself.
Vita's OS update this week has a Google Maps app.

haven't tried it yet, but I think it's as simple as copying the save data to one of PSVita designated Vita folder on your PC.
should be in Document/PSVita/PSAVEDATA

I played this today... when I went in to pay off the preorder. Was surprised by how light it was, and the analogs were pretty hardy despite their small size.
Only messed around for a min or two. I usually don't like touch screens but quite liked them in this instance.

I still think it's coming. surely Sony realize that downloading large file of game data only on PSVita and PS3 is very not user friendly. PS3 user is insignificant compare to PC, and you can't even do background download while playing games on Vita. it's gotta be affecting their digital download sales.

Vita has it's own store accessible from Vita. when we said a game is not on PSN, we mean it's not on PSN Vita store, PSN PS3 store have a more complete list of games and some games not listed in Vita store actually works.
so you need a PS3, got to PS3 store and look for that particular PSP game not available on Vita store, then copy it to Vita once you finished downloading it.
ugh i really want to have a digital version of wipeout. i've regularly played the ps3 one since it released, and i hate the hassle of getting discs/carts. the problem is my preorder through bestbuy is $10 cheaper. i'm finding it extremely hard to rationalize the easiness of a digital copy for the added cost.
I'm so happy for these.

I don't have it Pre-ordered but I'm most likely picking it up for the co-op alone.
I'll leave it be then - looking forward to it the least of the games I'm getting but hoping I'm wrong. The previews I've just looked up are good enough.

glad it worked out for you, but remember.. amazon isn't a mom and pop warehouse. pulling those strings is probably quite involved and difficult (and potentially costly) given their size and operation with multiple warehouses spread across the country, automated picking, etc..
Why don't you just canx your order then re-order it.
