Expect more laughable posts like this after the patch.

People are weird. If they want Diablo 2, they should play Diablo 2.

Edit: Oh god, the Beta feedback forum is an utter mess now. It's like old battle.net forum levels of bad.

lol

I read that entire post and I have no idea what he's complaining about. I love Blizzard's fanbase!

I am totally fine with the 1.25 price.
It does not matter at the end of the day. If I want to buy an item with my Blizz money, I wont care whether my $20 will go to the seller or only 18.75 will go to him and 1.25 to Blizz. Good for them. And if I am selling, and I want 25$ for something, I wont care if I "get" 23.75 instead.

As both is ingame first, IRL only secondary. If I get money out of an item in D3, then it is not Blizz "getting" money from me, it is me getting money thanks to Blizzard. Hell yeah!

Some of us have been flagged for the Beta in these past few weeks. Have any of you actually been activated yet? It's been over a month now, I still haven't gotten my invite yet though. Was wondering if it's just me.

Me neither, we were flagged at the same time. No EU betas have been handled.

When I was flagged it took ages. You're just gonna have to kind of let it surprise you >.<.

Just read a delightful thread about a player wanting items to auto pickup. Might as well throw in proximity auto attack while they are at it too!

smh

I try to stay away from the beta forums lest I want to be pissed off. Really only care about what the blues are posting.

Hoovering up whites and grays sounds like a great idea! :p

"We will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning on Tuesday[sic], February 18th, at 10:00 AM PST and we expect the service to be available again at approximately 6:00 PM PST. During this time the Battle.net servers and any online games will be unavailable for play."

When they say scheduled, is this regularly scheduled every week, or can we expect patch 13 later tonight?

8 hours downtime is definately not a regular thing.. patch incoming :D

Well, the day was off, its patch today :p

"We thought about revamping the calendar so that today was Tuesday, but have since changed our minds and the message now reads as follows:

I've been checking my accounts every now and then since the beta started and every time I die a little inside. Why can't I get in? Damn it!

Radical skill changes incoming?

Patch 13 datamined info:

http://www.diablofans.com/topic/35217-patch-13-skill-category-changes/
SkillsUI.stl

* 3 extra categories have been added for each class (total of 6)
* All classes have "Primary", "Secondary", and "Defensive" as their first 3 categories now
* Barb: "Tactics", "Might", and "Rage"
* DH: "Archery", "Devices", and "Shadow"
* Monk: "Conviction", "Technique", and "Focus"
* WD: "Terror", "Decay", and "Voodoo"
* Wizard: "Arcane", "Conjuration", and "Mastery"

SkillPane.stl

"Skill Runes begin unlocking at level {s1}"
(Looks like the rumor about rune effects unlocking as you level may be correct).

Powers.stl

Skill names and descriptions appear relatively unchanged. (minor tweaks here and there)

* Several CC spells seems to have had their damage component removed (like Frost Nova and Ground Stomp)

SkillKit\*.skl

* Passive skills look largely unchanged
* Active skill data has increased per skill -- it looks like 5 additional levels per skills (probably the level each rune effect is unlocked), For example (not sure which offset is which rune yet)
Bash: 13, 26, 20, 6, 35
Cleave: 38, 48, 29, 17, 8

I wonder if this is gonna be another reversal in philosophy like the whole town portal thing.

Yeaaaah, at this rate of fundamental balance changes they're not gonna meet Q2 2012. Itemization will need to be especially revamped to work with the new runes system.
edit: actually after reading through the blog post and thinking a bit more, this may actually make them MORE likely to meet the deadline because moving runes to the skill system may actually simplify itemization.

Ah, read your post before the edit, disregard.

Huh? They said they wouldn't reveal these new systems until they were pretty much set in stone. Now that they're revealed, what big changes are really needed?
You're assuming that they won't discover flaws in this new system and decide to change it yet again. They've done this many times throughout even just the beta. They'll also need to ensure that the system is properly balanced and bug-free throughout the entire game across all difficulties, classes, builds, and levels.

I'm glad they finally fixed the lack 'new thing' between level 31-60.
Huh, this is a good point.

I read through the blog about the changes and they all sound really good to me. That skill window and hot bar being linked makes sense, and was a little awkward before. I hope they replace the runes with something else, in terms of them dropping in the world though. It was always cool in Diablo II when a gem or rune would drop as apposed to another piece of armor or what have you. The fact that the skill runes are integrated in a call of duty like leveling system is nice, and I like the fact that everyone will have access to the skill and rune combinations at max level and not have to find or trade for certain items.

Looks like the witch doctor was hit fairly hard.

I still wish there were some way to increase your rune power through item drops somehow - perhaps like a consumable scroll to bump it up one level, but then again, the market for such things would inevitably dry up unless there's a compelling reason for players to reroll characters.

These look like changes that signal one of the final patches before a release. I guarantee you we'll be seeing a Release Candidate build soon.

That's what I was thinking too, we'll hear a release date soon perhaps as these changes are likely something you'd do when you're getting ready to start prepping for a release. Saw some datamine stuff on something about a trial version, too, which also leads me to believe we're getting closer. May or June maybe.

LOL at the new datamined stuff, but really did anyone have any doubt this wouldn't make it in?

The Horadric Hamburger - The Horadrim wandered far and wide to gather the finest ingredients for their feast. Only the lone traveler sent to the Moo Moo farm failed to return. Diablo had laid a trap for the Horadrim, the Hell Bovine, who struck the traveler down before he could gather the final ingredient: cheese.
Prism - This fantastical blade is the physical manifestation of unicorn smiles, bright rainbow colors, shooting star wishes, and teddy bear giggles.

Some interesting changes for D3. I was looking forward to collecting Runes though but I can understand their reasons for changing it. At low level, it would be fine but once you get high enough, juggling all those runes will be annoying.

Also nice to see the addition of the Chance to Hit procs coming in.

I wonder how far this will push the release date? Are we looking at Q2 or Q3 now?

Lots of changes. To me, it looks like Q2 2012 is still looking good for D3 release. The rune system seems like it has been the biggest gameplay hurdle and is what probably pushed back the game from Q1 to Q2. The fact we're seeing it in beta now must mean it is in its more finalized state and everything else should be easier(maybe?) to implement. Whatever the case, I'm just glad there's more content added for us to play in the beta.

Time to repopulate that friends list once the servers go up.

Well looking over the rune system article, I really think the changes sound good. I like the idea of being able to toy around with builds and rune abilities without having to waste an item I farmed a long time to get. As for the UI skill bar changes, it doesn't really affect me as I will be enabling the "Elective Mode".

I'm a little disappointed with a couple of the Demon Hunter changes, but can totally see why they were made. Reducing Vengeance hatred bonus from 50 to 25 makes it less of a go to and now Steady Aim's passive damage increase from 10% to 20% may actually make me pick it instead. Pathing improvement for Vault is something I'll just have to see for myself, because the fundamentals/mechanics just seem a bit broken for me.

Patch is downloaded and I'm just waiting for the servers to come up.

Nevermind it worked after a restart! Good change for the rune system btw. It would have sucked to farm runes to affect core functionality like that, it should be unlocked for all. great move blizz

Health and damage of all monsters have been adjusted. I'm anxious to see whether stuff is harder yet again (beta has been made harder at least twice now).

Didn't the last patch make it easier, though, by drastically increasing player HP and eliminating the harder boss enchantments?

Someone help me understand these changes. As far as I know, they had 2 problems:

1. Not enough inventory space for people who wanted to collect all 7 ranks of all 5 types of runes for all skills (35x # of skills in the game).

Seems like somewhat of a problem, but why didn't they just stick with unattuned runes and instead have some kind of cost to slotting them and deslotting them? Then we have, at max, 35 runes for inventory again.

2. Nothing to do from level 30-60 when you level up.

Well, since leveling up allowed use of higher rank runes, and better items, I'm not sure that this was ever really true. Also, they had passives for this.

So, to solve these problems, they get rid of runes (which had awesome graphics) and give us something to pick while leveling (and replace them with crappy new rune/glyph graphics?) and remove one more type of loot (was really looking forward to finding these).

Not only this, but they removed ranks to skills. So this tells me there will probably be no +skill/rank affixes either. Diablo 2 had these and +skill affixes were always fun and sought after. So how exactly do we have any different of a system from WoW currently? Are the affixes currently in the game enough to allow for unique builds?

Seriously disappointed right now....

I guess the only difference I can think of is that the talent tree is a tree and not just open. But I can't see any other differences. Can someone honestly explain to me where the build diversity will come from now? Will it just be from items? No more build commitment at all?

I don't see how the build diversity has changed at all unless your speaking about ranks for abilities/runes of which everyone would be seeking and acquiring the highest rank of both. Which would inevitably lead to the same amount of abilities with the same amount of runes/variations that will currently be in the game.

And World of Warcraft only lets you alter abilities through specific talents (many abilities cannot be altered regardless) whereas Diablo 3 is letting you choose a variant for each ability.

I can see losing the joy of searching for the runestones and giving you more purpose to the loot grind, but there are pros and cons to both paths. I think I prefer the one that is currently slated in patch 13 to be honest. And I like the new rune graphics. :/

Yeah I think Tremis is mixing up "interesting pickups" and build diversity. Build diversity hasn't changed at all.

I do feel kinda sad about losing runestones since they looked so awesome. The current graphic for the runes makes it very hard to remember what each one is...
