I would have also liked a 3DS game, but this will be OK for now. I want to play this and the Nobunga game. I really wanted them to use the 3DS features like AR, SpotPass, and StreetPass though.
I just don't see the point in making a sequel set in the same land just to expand on the story.
This will probably have new Pokemon, but I'm expecting Gold and Silver type expansion where it's only like 100 or something.
Bundle it with a code for a new Pokemon Ranch/Pokemon Box style 3DS App, please.
What is that downside? Also I'm assuming that more people own a DS and not a 3DS, than people who own a 3DS and not a DS. Which would mean that any downside would affect fewer people this way than the other way around, right? No, but there is a downside to those who do own a 3DS (compared to releasing them as 3DS games).

Not sure if they would, but it doesn't matter, as those are just the form names, ala stuff like "Giratina--Origin Forme" and "Shaymin--Sky Forme". In other words, just like Giratina and Shaymin, which still just display those as their names in battle regardless of form, the same is likely to be true of these Kyurem forms. How would "Black Kyurem" and "White Kyurem" fit into the naming spaces for the Japanese games?
I doubt there's anywhere near 100. Probably 10-20 at most.
I'm also guessing that a lot of people with a 3DS also have a DS of some form, but that's fair enough. The downside is the game will look like shit on a 3DS.
B&W 2? Talks of a trilogy?
Guys. There's only one reason nintendo would put this on DS first. Put aside all your other theories and guesses and befuddled remarks.
B&W 2 for DS this year
B&W 3DS next year. It's the only possible explanation!

They have a 1/3 stake in the franchise. So not even majority share.

No way this will have new Pokemon, beyond just a few new forms of old Pokemon, ala Platinum. Once these games come out, Black and White still won't be quite two years old yet. We're not going to get new Pokemon until the 6th generation of games starts, and that's certainly not now--the fact they're still using the names "Black and White", along with having Kyurem-fusions of Zekrom and Reshiram as the mascot cover Pokemon instead of actually new Pokemon adds the final nail in the coffin to that idea. This will probably have new Pokemon, but I'm expecting Gold and Silver type expansion where it's only like 100 or something.

Not quite, the Pokemon Company is a wholly owned corporate affiliate of NCL. The ownership stake goes as follows:
GameFreak 1/3
Pokemon Company International 1/3
NCL 1/3
Techincally speaking, Nintendo owns 2/3 of the IP with the remaning being owned by Game Freak. I think AceBandage can do a better job of explaining it than I can though.

My DS Lite's L button is broken ;_;
And how could you ever play Pokemon without an L button?
This is going to just extend into 'Why is teh 3D broken on my Pokemans?' says angry soccer mom. It'll confuse consumers. How're the adverts going to work!?
I thought Creatures owned a 1/3?
They're not going to change the formula for reasons. Keeping the formula as it is will keep the games accessible while retaining the competitive aspects that keep fans attracted to the series to begin with. Vastly improving the presentation aspect of it, then, isn't much of a big change at all, which isn't what your post really implies. So I take it you're fine with everything else moving forward by small increments, which is already the case with the franchise?
It's one thing to say that I'm making a complacent point and then make a complacent point yourself. Then, both of us look a bit stupid. When Mario changed to 3D, so did the way you played a Mario game. But that hasn't been the case for Pokemon, where any changes to the game design itself have mostly been aesthetic and, if at all related to the internal math and proceedings of battles and raising, relatively-minor.
So, at this point anyway: I feel fine in saying that Game Freak's current direction for the franchise is the best it can take. If I wanted to revolutionize or greatly change the underlying fabric of the average Pokemon game, I'd do it via a spinoff or, at any rate, a fan-game. But the main series is in too good of a position to abandon ship now.
And how could you ever play Pokemon without an L button?
This was a silly change, it'd better be a key selling point to add that back, and maybe some other button shortcut optoins.Black/White removed L as A. >=/

Yep, you're right. I do more research and came up with this:
Creatures 1/3
Nintendo 1/3
GameFreak 1/3
Pokemon Company International is a media holder. Both Pokemon Company and Creatures are subsidiaries of NCL.
I stand corrected, fucking confusing shit.![]()
You're telling me.So on the books Nintendo only owns a 1/3 but I guess since they own Creatures they end up having a majority stake? Or something.
I... I didn't know this. Fuck.If you hold L and pick a move it tells you what it does. Indispensable to me in White.
Wow, I never knew that. You could always just read the move descriptions from that status screen, though. If you hold L and pick a move it tells you what it does. Indispensable to me in White.
I don't understand how you guys expect sprites to work in a fully 3D world.
;_; Don't say it! ;_;

For the DS really? It's like they don't believe in the 3DS at all. So you pass making the 1st original game in one of the best selling franchises in the world. A game that could sell the 3ds like hotcakes. But no lets make it DS. They truly believe, yeah right.
I think that's correct. Creatures does have a say so over the matter as they technically own a 1/3 of the IP. But regardless, NCL is majority stakeholder because they own Creatures and a 1/3 of the IP separate from the other two entities.
