Even with those 3 we'd still probably miss.

Ruff is leaning towards Ennis-Hodgson-Stafford as the 2nd line tomorrow night, and Hulzer will step into Gragnani's spot in the press box.

Wonder if that means Gerbe-Leino-Kaleta as the third line since Ennis was playing center lately.

Hodgson will be top line by mid-second period then fourth line by the end of the game. It's just Ruff's way.

This season's collapse should serve as more than enough cause - I hope - for MLSE management to make serious changes to how this team is run and development. There must be at least one exec there who's noticed that Dale Tallon has been able to assemble a more competitive team in 1 season than Burke has been able to in 3 (by this I'm refering to Tallon's UFA signings in the off season).

The one positive I can pull from this skid is that Grabovski's pitch for a big salary has been completed blown apart by his lack of consistency and lack of scoring. No goals in 13 games from a guy who's asking for 5 million plus a season. I mean, come on Grabo, as bad as we are we're not Edmonton.

And I have to shake my head in disbelief at the sports columnists still trotting out the excuses for Wilson. Yes, I suppose that you can't blame a coach when a player like Schenn makes such a stupid mistake in one game. But you can blame the coach when the entire team makes the same mistakes game after game, season after season.

I hope the Blackhawks have a quick goal or two against Toronto tonight. I don't like losing but there's still a weird satisfaction that I can get from seeing a worst-case scenario play itself out. The Leafs have lost 9 of 10 games and have lost 5 straight games. If they lose tonight, and lose against Montreal this Saturday, then that will make 8 straight losses and 12 of 13 losses! That's because the game after Montreal is versus Boston.

It's going to be sickening... but at the same time I just love hearing the Leafs get trashed (when they deserve to get trashed) on the radio.

I honestly can't bring myself to care about wins anymore. It feels like even if they do make the playoffs, it won't be enough to wash the filth of this recent collapse out of my mouth.

I think Burke is a good GM at picking up the pieces to complete the team for a Stanley Cup run with his trades, but isn't that great of a GM when it comes to building a team from the ground up. The 07 Anaheim team already had a playoff team but needed that extra jump to be contenders where Burke brought in Pronger and Neidermeyer.

It will.

Honestly, besides maybe not getting a goaltender when he should have, I don't really blame Burke for what's happening right now. This is a team that was 8 games over .500 at one point in the season. They're playing way below the level they're capable of, for whatever reason.

Burke probably has to prove himself all over again to the fans this summer, and I think he will, but Wilson should be long gone by then.

IMHO, Leafs made a huge mistake going with 2 rookie, unproven goalies. Should have picked one of the two and gotten a veteran goalie to mentor the other.

You shut your slut mouth young sir. I am going to tonight's game. I want entertainment.

I disagree, I think he's still the man to do the job here. He has done a lot to re-shape the Leafs. Look back to what we started with before he came here to now, he's actually gave us some proper /depth. And at the same time the contracts everyone is harping on are for the most part will be done with in a season or two tops. This is still a very young team and these growing pains are terrible but it is what it is.

They needed to make a decision on Gustavsson this season (impending UFA) and Reimer was great last season and to start this year. There wasn't a lot of room.

Very well said. I thought I was the only one feeling like this. Like one poster said before in this thread, if we do make the playoffs, I have a feeling people will forget how fucking terrible this team is at the core, same coach etc... For the next couple of years because we made the playoffs once in 7 years.

I agree with you on Burke. But what the fuck at the bolded? This dude right here will accept mediocrity and he's the same dude that will probably support the leafs even if they go 0-82.

I agree. I've been saying this all along. Reimer was good last season towards then end, oh wow. Big deal. Dude's been a complete flop this season. Toskala esque. Same with Gustavsson.

I find myself in agreement with Fortunate Son and Montresor.

Remember how confused we all were with Wilson was given an extension in the midst of 2 month decline in results? Heh, those were the days.

Nah hes going to be a good goalie, just get him some defense structure in front of him.

Reimer and Gustavsson remind me of Elliott in Ottawa last year. Young goalies being put into a position they're not ready for and having the media and coach back up the bus on them after almost every loss.

We've hung out Anderson to dry a bunch of times this year but he's bailed out our defence numerous times and our defence has been gradually improving all year.

wilson :shakehead:

They should have made a decision before the season started and traded the other one. 2 young goalies is a disaster waiting to happen.
