I feel that my decision to buy the WiFi only model has been validated. Those prices fucking suck.

This is why I don't get the excitement for 4G LTE.

Ugh. Maybe they'll update it in the future.

Honestly, the stunted iOS and lack of full app availability is what is killing the AppleTV for me.

I think the fact that they limited the CPU means we aren't going to get apps in the near future as well.

the actual images wouldn't load for me so I skipped out on buying a cover...I'll go back and order that later.

Ha, same here. I couldn't even choose since none of the pictures were showing up. No worries, I'll just grab one in stores.

Ok, why the hell doesn't iPhoto support the 4th Gen iPod Touch? I mean, it supports the iPhone 4 so, an A5 isn't a requirement

Pretty crazy if you ask me >_<

Might be because of the 256MB RAM...not sure though.

No one who knows anything about Apple thought this was a possibility.
You seem to be misinterpreting what I'm stating.

Obviously I wasn't expecting it to directly play BD's. People were simply hoping it had the correct profile and bandwidth support so that stuff like XBMC would be able to play it.

Video capabilities:

Seems like any hope of playing BD rips has been dashed. Hell, Apple TV is actually less capable than iPad.

Thats horrible out of box, It's garbage, I wouldn't recommend that to anyone...
however if...

XBMC is full XBMC on the AppleTV. It is more flexible on formats and it's completely skinnable. If you wanted you could overhaul the UI yourself just by configuring the XML files.
Anyone know for sure will XBMC work on AppleTV Revision 3 hardware?
If it can playback full 1080p 40Mbps(ish),straight blu-ray to MKV(non reencodes)its still got potential to be the best.

At this point the WD Live Plus stream plays everything I throw at it for 100bucks.
I'd love to have a better choice to set friends and family up with that don't have a HTPC.

How many confirmation emails does Apple send after an order is placed?

I received a "Thank you for your order" message but that was it. My credit card has a temporary charge for the full amount of the order.

I was ready to confirm order, realized I wanted a different credit card. Didn't realize you just type in the new number and it will switch the type of card, so instead I tried to edit the account, and now I can't get back to order... FML.

so im gonna be waiting weeks right? what do you think my chances are of getting one at best buy or something?

Just keep hitting F5 every couple of mins. on the apple store. Also check gaf every few mins too as people have been posting when its up for them.

I think it will come back up for some more pre orders in the next hour or so. Apple wants dat money.

Anyone have a 64GB iPad 2 that actually comes close to using the space? I'm not sure whether I want a 64 or 32, but I do feel like 16 is too little...

I officially quit. I'll be one of the first 10-20 people at my store for sure.

Good luck with that... it's going to be even worse than last year because it's easy profit of a couple hundred bucks (which is why I don't understand why everyone doesn't buy two if given the chance).

Do I pre-order this thing even though I'll be in LA till the 20th and won't get to use it, or take my chance waiting in a line somewhere in LA? Decisions...

Got lucky and got through on the site

Was watching netflix and decided to check again and bam got to the selection page.
I got a 32gb White and light gray smart cover.

Finally was able to put in my order for a black 32GB. Came out to $657.41!

Now I have something to hold my attention until the next iPhone.

After lurking in this thread and thinking about it for a while, I will wait to see what we get next year. I just got a 64GB WiFi iPad 2 on the cheap and have a new 32GB iPhone 4S, so I think I can make do for now. Having those two items, nothing in the new iPad really sounds like it would be a must-own item for me. I guess 4G LTE is nice, but I barely have 3G where I am and when I do, it's usually 2 bars. Coverage here sucks, so it wouldn't matter for me. And I've got a retina display on my phone, so whatevs to that.

Nice to see that almost everyone else is hyped up for it though. It's obviously going to be awesome. I just think there is no point in me upgrading now.

Order went through 20 mins ago or so, and I just received my e-mail. March 16-20 for delivery. I'm almost hoping it comes on the 20th so I can be sure I'm home. Working 16-19. :(

I have a 64 GB iPad 2. I only come close to filling it up when I go on a long flight and I load it up with movies and seasons of tv shows.

yeah, the retail lines are scalper heaven. Not doing that again.

It's not horrible by any means ... and should be fine for what they plan to offer in terms of services (though the lack of DD+ for Netflix kind of sucks).

Errrr ... that's what I'm stating. It can't do that.

Sure they'll be able to run XBMC on it, but it physically can't support the correct profile and bitrates for BD content. You would need to actually transcode the content (not just remux to MKV).

Another point of mention is there is no indication it can pass any of the high res audio codecs over HDMI. Assuming that's definitely the case (it's possible it may but they didn't bother mentioning it because they have no use for it) ... you'll need to transcode audio to FLAC (or DD if you hate good things) for XBMC.

No, I mean like, I WILL be at the very front of the line.

Lol. People wait days in line here in Los Angeles at Apple stores. Screw waiting in line, I have to work. We might even get 1 day before everybody in line gets their iPad.
