Ok, so Apple exceeded every fucking expectation I had. Shows you how much stock to put in rumors, since it was almost 'confirmed' that it would be dual-core. Quad-core+Retina+LTE+much better camera+new software+same price point= orgasmic.

My favorite part? Finally a new fucking default wallpaper :)

You must have had pretty low expectations. Those were all gimme expectations.

Not to dampen your spirits, but I believe it's a dual core CPU with quad core graphics.

I was able to get through on the phone just now, if anyone's still trying. It gave me the "call back later" message once, then I immediately redialed and got through.

I got through! 16 GB white for me, plust a smart cover since I had no ipad 2. I also bought a Vita with a few games today, I'm afraid to look at my checking account now.

So will YouTube still run like shit on it? I can literally watch every other video stream fine on my ipad 2, but the YouTube app always stutters and plays like shit.
There's something wrong with your iPad 2. I have always got silky smooth 720p video on the YouTube app.

Weird, can't find it on my iPhone.

i had to click on the link to go strait to the itunes page to get it, and even then it only worked when completely killed the App's app, and restarted it. Couldnt search for iphoto or anything. Now i have it though.

My CC got charged and I got an email thanking me for my purchase but the apple page is still processing.

Ima just assume I'm good to go and close the apple page.

Just watching the event via apple.com now and I have to say that Tim Cook is really nailing it with his presentation. He has certainly learned a lot from Steve, and while his style is a little different, it really fits with the "Steve" style better than I think even Schiller or Forstall.

While Steve kind of had a feel of "This is fucking cool, and you will love it" Tim almost seems amused that he can't believe how cool some of the things are.

A word of warning for leather smart cover, the dye method is not fast so it will bleed if you wipe it with a wet cloth to clean it. I suggest buying a third party version instead.

No, I didn't have 'low expectations'. There was a ton of rumors that the price would be bumped up, that it might not have LTE, etc. The graphics exceeded most expectations. I live on planet earth, and having all of the above checked is pretty damn impressive. Could you please list me what having 'high expectations' that Apple could have realistically matched would entail, for someone who is rational, reasonable, and living in reality? You know, not from a messageboard bot tat regurgitates insane expectations. I'm curious to know. I like how being impressed about a display that destroys everything else in the market is considered having 'low expectations' now. Amazing what some of you take for granted and how cynical you've become.

While that is what is predicted, assuming you are talking about the CPU, and not the GPU, as far as I knew, they still haven't said what it is yet. Probably won't know for sure until iSupply or somebody does the teardown/microscope thing again.

CPU is dual-core, GPU is quad-core. Clock frequencies unknown:

Gimme or not, this thing basically shits all over the competition ... and I really haven't seen anything in the pipeline that will match it.

We basically have to wait until nVidia releases their next SoC and someone packs it with a 1080p/1200p screen to have something in the ballpark overall.

That reminds me though, has there been any word on RAM?

pre-order placed!

16gb Black WiFi unit + Apple TV

was gonna go with a white since I've had two black iPads, but looking at games on the White vs. Black made it a no contest

Which means it's a dual-core CPU.

If it were a quad they would have proudly announced it.

Ok, given that this exceeded expectations, what were you expecting to begin with? I don't see how these aren't expected specs even ignoring any and all rumors. Were you honestly not expecting a retina display?

I'm not saying the hardware isn't nice. I'm just saying there's nothing unexpected or surprising in their announcement. It's a by the numbers/check list spec update that anyone could predict without even hearing a single rumor.

As far as RAM goes, we probably won't know that till someone gets their hands on it or a developer leak. We usually don't get that info until a few days after the announcement.

Got my babies ordered about 1.5 hours ago - two black 64GB 4G. One for me, one for the wifey. The child keeps the iPad 2 :)

I literally only have 2 complaints:

1. The front camera resolution wasn't increased. On iPad2 it already looked really blurry. They could have made it 1MP or something instead of 0.3MP. 1024x768 would have been a nice bump. Missed opportunity for great looking videochats.

2. I was really hoping for GPS included on all models.

Love the Tegra 3 trolling.
Yeah there must be some bitter tears over at nVidia. It's the only competitor shown, and is handily crushed by last year's model let alone the new one.

And given the fact nVidia's bread & butter is graphics ... the trolling is strong with this one.

nVidia is just like Intel when it comes to mobile processors; completely out of the market. God I remember seeing the performance with Tegra 2 when I was working on the Panasonic Jungle. It was a complete joke.

I'd agree with that, except for the screen. Sure it's taken for granted now since the rumors have been around forever ... but if one really hadn't heard those rumors, there's no way this was expected since there is nothing else with such a high resolution at this size.

I wouldn't say they're just like Intel in this sector.

Products actually ship with nVidia SoC's :D

I'm looking forward in seeing what Apple do to the Apple TV in the future.

I'm sure they're planning something beyond the hobbyist, so I'm intrigued.

Thanks by not bothering to answer my question- I asked you what 'high expectations' would look like, apparently you have no idea either. Sure, most of this stuff was in rumors. But so what? The rumours were damn good to begin with. That doesnt mean I cant be impressed that they come to fruition. Thats an incredibly odd perspective. So if the rumors were that this thing would have holographs, and it turns out to have them, its 'not impressive' cause it was rumored anyway? Many times most rumors dont even pan out. iPhone 5 anyone? I was hoping we'd get most of the bullet points in the rumors, and I got everything and then some. So yeah, I'm impressed. Most people in the real world would be too, considering this vastly exceeds anything on the market right now. It's ridiculous you would mock me for being impressed with something that is considerably better than anything else out there. Thats an objective way to look at it, not comparing to some fictional product that you cant even articulate to me.

It's like those scenes in films at a school disco with loads of girls sat on a bench, one by one someone comes to ask them to dance leaving just us ugly Europeans sat here crying.

I wonder if Obama is excited? Amazing how far the iPad has come and how engrained it's become in such a short amount of time.

i don't want to bump something so old (a day?) in this thread, but can anyone tell me what the two different iPad cases are in this picture? I really like the non-Obama case, but don't know what it is. Both are nice, though.
