Mass Effect 3 Face Import Bug ME1 > ME2 > Nope ME3

Can you give me info to fixing it. Just after your post I realized that feeling that's been in my head for 3 days: I saved Ashley! WTF is Kaidan here! Now I know...

Playing right now as Paragon, I messed up my Renegade save, so after Paragon it's ME1-2-3 time again!
I have no clue but some Gaffers in the OT know. You should ask them.

do you import your face right from the beginning or there is some sequence like Normandy crashing in ME2?

Right from the off

Playing on 360, seeing as I didn't finish ME1 until after ME2 (I didn't rate ME1 but adored ME2 so played it ass backwards) it's only importing my ME2 save which of course is fine. Even this has had issues. I basically used default Shep in 2 but importing into 3 has giving me someone completely different :/ So not even having the ME1 save is causing issues. I still want to use that Shep as he was covered in scars. Such a colossal fuck up again from Bioware

So, uh, you get around this if you import into ME2 change eye color and change eye color back (or whatever other minor detail) gain a "face code" and then import into ME3? Right?

Maybe they should've spent some time and money fixing this instead of starting their own space program.

I don't think you can import ME1 face into ME2 and change anything; at least I couldn't do that.

Hm, I was planning on picking this up sometime in the next week so I could spend some time with the multiplayer before the rush dies off. Not quite as certain now...

I'm stil playing through Mass Effect 2 currently and need another week or two to finish it. Is it possible to play the multiplayer content without starting the single player game? I'm hoping to avoid locking myself into creating "Not Shepard" if I can avoid it.

yea, you can play MP separately just fine. I know a few guys who are only playing MP until stuff is fixed in SP.

I tried to do it manually wound up with a huge nose somehow, of course you don't notice till 3-4 hrs in, that's just how it goes with ME.

So one of the key features of the game is actually broken at launch? Surely at some point during QA someone imported a ME1 character?

There is a development cost in therms of time/effort to get all the tests done. It may seem minor, but BioWare's QA team was already stretched thin, and things were coming in at the last minute, so they couldn't add them more work. It's unfortunate, but there are dev realities, sadly. :(

My Kaiden died, and needs to stay dead.

Project Lazarus - it's Cerberus' way of making Shepard pay.

how do you know this?

Damn. How common is this problem on X360?

My Kaiden died, and needs to stay dead.

Jesus Christ, im glad mine imported right, but had i seen Kaiden... I'd shelve the game till that abomination is fixed. Its bad enough that all the male characters in the game seemed to turn gay, last thing I need to see is Kaiden officially come out of his closet.

I hope their patching and bug fixing team isn't stretched thin :(

Awesome, glad to hear it. How will that affect the whole "Galaxy At War" thing? Or will that just reset when I start the single player game?

whelp, that fix is useless to me. I don't have ME2 anymore :(

Yup, I'll be sticking to the MP for a while, and hope Bioware gets this issue patched. I don't want to recreate my Shepard.

I didn't have ME2 anymore, but i just used the save i had and it worked just fine.

I left him to die all three times I played through ME1. IF HE STAYS ALIVE.... I'll fix it with notepad++.

It will help with your galaxy war readiness rating. Which in turn helps you in getting the best ending in SP.

Sigh EA/Bioware. Another big fuckup.

I tried the hack thing, but it was COMPLETELY wrong. So I had to remade it with pictures so I lost my scars, which later got mentioned
in the game by the doctor that I can't fix them, gee really, they aren't even there..

Is there a way to update existing ME3 saves with face codes yet? My current ME3 Shepard looks kinda alright, but I tried grabbing the ME2 code and it does look a little bit closer to my ME2 Shep in cutscenes. I guess I could just start over, just a couple of hours into the game still, but it'd be nice if I didnt have to.

EDIT: Unrelated to face imports, but I started up ME2 to check my character's face in profile and wow, the text and dialogue wheel is HUGE compared to ME3. Wonder if that's intentional or if they forgot to upscale it with increasing resolutions.

Yep my shep is fucking weird looking me1 me2 to me3 bioware is apparently trying to ruin their image it seems. This is so fundamental , having same shep
ard kind of important. By time patch comes I ll be half way through the game.

Was a bit miffed when this happened with my primary carryover Shep, especially as his initial look was way off. But I did manage to get him back to his original look with only one quick restart after my first fix wasn't quite right in-game.

Like many of you I thought it wasn't that big of a deal but I don't want to play the game now because of it. Doesn't feel right.

Best I could manually. The face is too fat and other things but I spent almost an hour trying to get it right :(

I know what you mean, I can't stand Kaidan too.

Seemed like a whiney twat to me. Plus, I only did a male Shep in ME1, and boned Ashley. :)

I just want to plow Ashley again.

I'm doing MP only, until Bioware fixes this. I'll probably play it for a couple more weeks, and then finally get into the SP.

I didn't have ME2 anymore, but i just used the save i had and it worked just fine.

huh? That guide made it seem like you need to restart ME2 again. How did you do this? Just load your ME2 save on a USB drive, and then follow the rest of the steps?

I had to deal with this dumb bug, but thankfully, I managed to recreate the same face I've had since ME1 in about 5 minutes.

I'm sure others were not so lucky, though.

Remade mine from scratch, took 10 minutes, got it about 98% right. I justified making him a little thicker, since he's been sitting on his ass behind a desk.

Seems like recent releases are becoming rougher and rougher around the edges (Skyrim, Gotham City Impostors, Twisted Metal, Mass Effect 3).

Though ME3s face bug isn't too bad. Maybe I can make my old Shep look a little better this time around.

EDIT: There's no way to get my Xbox ME1 and ME2 save over to PS3 is there? I'd rather have the game on PS3 but I played both games on Xbox... I want to try online but I'm too cheap to pay for XBL :(

how is it not too bad? it was like the whole point of playing this fucking game. I developed an attachement to my Shepard and this helped to overlook glaring flaws of the series. I wouldn't touch this game with 6 feet stick if it wasn't for Shepard I made.

If they don't fix it completely I won't play this game. I really, really regret that I have bought a collector's edition for PC.

If playing with the same model is the most important thing for you, you should be playing something else.

After reading through different threads here and elsewhere about ME3 it seems that there is alot of outrage being directed towards Bioware at the moment.

I have been reading stuff like how they screwed the fans over and so on, I am terrified of even playing the game now.

I still have not opened my collectors edition it´s still sealed and I am now considering returning it.

Same. I fell in love with the Mass Effect series, didn't hesitate to get the ME3 CE, and now I'm sitting here contemplating if I even want to open it and play it.

Well you play ME for different reasons than I do and I can probably make a Shepard look close to my old one from memory. All that matters to me are my decisions importing over.

The Kaiden bug would piss me off though.

What I've played so far from the game is pretty great. It just annoys me that this feature, that the whole series has been building up to, has been so blatantly ignored by bioware.

Happened to me too. I just remade my Shep similar to how he was in ME1/ME2. I actually ended up liking my new shep better. I retconned my own Shepard >_<

I had the face bug, but didn't have the kaiden bug. Maybe it helps that I kept him alive in 1? My friend who kept Ash alive and also had the face bug did NOT have the Kaiden bug.

Overall, this game is miles better than ME2, and letting a stupid thing like having a face that's 2% different than your old one ruin the whole thing for you is goofy and petty.

How could making sure that the gamer's custom Shepherd is transferable between games not be STEP ONE of the entire process, each time?

Or were they going off of the statistics of how many people play with the default guy, and dropped it down the priority list?

If playing with the same model is the most important thing for you, you should be playing something else.

Your dickish response is not the proper way to placate the feelings of someone who simply wants to finish the series with the character they created.

Is that asking for more than is deserved, when that was the allure from the very inception? There's an investment to be spoken for here, and a promise to be kept.
