Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Paragon ending would be to not make the Geth free, and then destroy. If you free them first, then it would be the ultimate trolling.

Report from earlier in the thread, but reposting because it's frankly hilarious that you can do it.

Holy shit, are you serious? What the fuck BioWare.
Meh, I'm fine with that. The whole basis of his actions are that it was a mistake to effectively castrate the krogan because of their ancient mistakes and the POSSIBILITY they could be repeated, yet under Wrex and Bakara, or even just Wrex, it's very likely they'll turn over a new leaf or at least not be as bad. With Wreav in charge, and possibly Eve dead, it honestly may be better for the galaxy if the krogan slowly faded away, and Mordin realizes this.

Besides, if you failed to cure the genophage Wrex WILL catch on, and corner you over it and need to be killed. Wreav will never realize, I think if I do a full Renegade run I'd definitely go for sparing Mordin and letting the krogan wither away.

How does he die?

To spread the cure to the genophage you have to distribute it through the atmospheric replenisher tower on Tuchanka. But they've been sabotaged so that this isn't possible, however Mordin can correct this, and in his words "I have to do this to make sure that it is done right.". He was the mole that told the Krogan about "Eve". He craves redemption for what he has done. The scene is really, really awesome, with Mordin humming to himself as the tower is exploding (from the damage during the battle).

Oh well, I chose the Geth. Sorry 'bout that, Tali. I mean, I expected that she would be upset, but the suicide scene was a bit of a shocker, lol. Seriously, the game did have it's moments and I loved it up until the end.

I don't think this is fair. Mordin's ending is very, very good. I don't need him to be alive for the sake of being alive. The way he redeems himself is fucking beautiful and I say it is a disservice to his character to try and deny it.

I agree, but they give you an out if you're okay with killing another character, which basically completely cheapens that IMO.

The cut to the explosion outside needed to happen faster in that scene. It looked a bit awkward as is. Same with some of the scenes waking up from the stupid nightmare.

He sacrifices himself to end the genophage. A true model of a solarian scientist. *tear for mordin*, but yes having him die is a better choice than wrex die.

Gonna get you your seashells bro

Seems like he has different "last words" up in the tower. Just saw a video where he's just talking about "the krogan are now free. Good." BOOM.

My game, he's humming and singing the song from ME2. My version >>> the other version.

You might also be fucking the Quarians if you kill the Geth, because if you talk to Tali, some of the Geth had begun uploading to the Quarians suits and were manipulating their immune system to help speed up the process of re-adapting to Rannoch. What happens to those Quarians?

I was slightly happy to see the Batarian leader from Bring Down the Sky show back up. Took everything I had not to put a bullet in his head. Then I had to ask him to join up and he did. Ugh. Felt like I had slime all over me after that.

Needs "AND STRAND THE QUARIANS AWAY FROM THEIR PLANET"
I'm HOPING they left civilians behind, at least in orbit around their planet, because if they took everyone along... good god, this a big part of why next to no one likes the ending. May as well have just blown up the galaxy while they were at it and called it a day.

In an explosion after releasing the genophage cure.

Oh okay, I had seen a video where Mordin got shot by Shepard but I was kinda lost for context. Thanks everyone.

And what are the seashells about?

There's a conversation on the Normandy, where Mordin's talking about "retirement" afterwards. About just sitting on a beach somewhere. Shepards like "You'll go insane from not doing anything but that." and Mordin chuckles "maybe I'll study SeaShells"

Requiring multiplayer to get a (marginally) better ending?

Really?

Yeah, I did not play multiplayer, as I got the game from Gamefly. Had no interest in it anyway, but given this, it seems as if this whole design is structured around the online pass bullshit... at least to a degree. I guess I could have kept hammering away at side quests, but I honestly was getting sick of doing them.

Conversation on Normandy about what he'd do if he retired. Better to see a video of that.
Okay, will do.

And I just saw Squad Members for ME3, figured I should since I already spoiled myself a ton with this thread. Why so few returning squad members? I understand they return in some capacity but I would've thought BioWare would've tried to stack the squad count for the final game.

Also no Aria squad member is a total downer.

Something about "tightening up" the story, or the action. I don't know, it sounds like corporate boardroom jargon.

I must have had enough points to "save" anderson (for a few minutes), in time for him to have a nice conversation while staring at Earth. Unless there's more than just that.

Too many variables and too much effort I suspect. Given ANYONE can die in the ME2 suicide run it's easier to only keep Garrus/Tali, the ones from the first game, and let everyone else play smaller roles. In that regard only Morinth got shafted, and I bet they saw next to no one actually got her.

Was expecting Grunt though, Wrex was too occupied to be on the team, yet they made mention of Grunt recovering and being ready to join, and instead he's just a War Asset apparently.

Has this been answered. But Shepard's ethnicity is a mulatto / mixed / ambiguous male correct? I figured akin to what the Wachowskis wanted with Neo?

I always thought so. But yesterday one of my friends identified him as clearly white.

Speaking of which, has anyone specifically called Bioware on their bullshit regarding not needing to play multiplayer to get the "best" ending? I finished at 7007 with near optimal choices from all 3 games and doing everything in all 3 games including DLC. So far I haven't seen anyone post a breakdown on hitting 8000 "legit", so I'm thinking it's not possible but who knows.

And once again just so people are aware: YOU CAN GET THE "BEST" ENDING (AKA SHEPARD LIVES) WITH ONLY 4000 EFFECTIVE ASSETS. You ONLY need 5000 if you don't "save" Anderson from the Illusive Man. If you're at 4000 and you save Anderson by convincing the Illusive Man to kill himself (Anderson still always bleeds out after) you still get the ending where Shepard lives at the end. You ONLY need 5000 IF the Illusive Man kills Anderson outright in order for Shepard to live.

Does seem sort of like a copout after ME2 and all the hassle of recruiting everyone.

I mean at the very least they could've dumped them all into one big old recruit scene and granted it would've screamed lazy but at least you'd have them as party members.

Dutch, actually, for default Shepard.

But you can make your Shepard be whatever you want!

It's such a minor change it doesn't really bug me, plus if they want him/her alive for the next game then it's pretty simple to just say "so they survived!" and be done with it. Still, out of principle it's not something they should've done given how quite a few people may've wanted nothing to do with multiplayer (or DID but didn't want to risk running into douchebags spewing spoilers).

Its probably resources thing more then anything else. They didn't want to spend the time recording all the VO for characters some people might not even have in their squad anymore. I also felt the gave way more compelling reasons for why an individual could not go with you then they did in ME2 with Ashley/Kaidan, Liara, and Wrex. They all had very specific task they had to do for the war effort or simply just weren't able to come because of sickness/age. Except Jacob he simply just didn't want to do it anymore.

Edit: I forgot about Grunt and Zaeed they have no reason not come with you again and don't.

Trying to put together the outcome I had.

Didn't continue from ME1 save
ME2, I played as female, so no Ashley
ME2 defaulted No Wrex, no Rancni queen
ME2, I lost Thane and Jack on the last mission. Maelon Lived, and I saved the Cure data. Destroyed the Collector Base.

ME3, I let the Geth Die (really, only to keep Tali around. My personal choice from the events was: Let the Geth live. Those damn admirals are a bunch of dicks.). Mordin died fixing the tower, and the Genophage was cured. Survivors (at least till the vague ending) were Tali, Kaiden, Garrus, Miranda, Samara, Grunt, EDI, Kelly Chambers, the Doctor, the 2 engineers.

Didn't have any DLC characters from 2 or 3.

Think the only deaths from 2 & 3, were Thane, Jack, Mordin, and Legion. Might actually be on the "light" side of things.

did anyone play with Tali dead in me2? im curious who you deal with in her place.

Wonder if you can have Legion and Tali die in ME2. At that point, why bother fixing anything for the Quarians?!?!

I'd give them a "well....Good Luck!" and leave.

For some reason I'm really pissed that the Rachni didn't play any role whatsoever in the final fight. All of that agonizing on whether or not to save them in ME1 for nothing?!

Does anyone remember when Mass Effect used to be so beautiful and mysterious?

Ilos-structure-remains.jpg

Now... I don't know what to think any more.

I do, but I still think there was a lot of great things visually in this one...

Wish I could go back to that first time I sat down to play Mass Effect.

The Joker/EDI relationship was so off-putting. When Joker asked me about it, I told him to lay off. I didn't want that shit in my game. Creepy and weird.

I should have done that :(

They were fun together in the ME2, but putting EDI into a sexy lady bot destroyed the charm of the character for me, and made what would have been awkward and weird (a relationship with a blinking ball of light/spaceship) creepy and weird. Though, there are moments to be had, like Legion telling EDI how her body is top heavy and Jack congratulating her on being a sex bot instead of a sex toy.
