Skyward Bored: Anyone's Wii Permanently Shelved After Zelda?

Was looking over my entertainment center this morning, and realized I haven't touched my Wii since this past Holiday.

Zelda was an alright game, but after it was over - felt as though there was nothing left. Not to mention, I remember wiping off a significant amount of dust to play Zelda in the first place.

There's just hasn't been any good games on Wii (imo). Particularly in comparison to the other consoles. Anyone else feel the same way?

It's not just you, the Wii release schedule really dried up last year. Xenoblade and Last Story are still to come though.

Yep, can't see me ever play another game on the Wii again. I just need to get my lazy arse up to sell the thing

It has been slower recently, but that is only to be expected with the successor around the corner. Xenoblade released just before Zelda. I cannot remember what came before that, but it has been pretty steady.

Still, The Last Story just released, and that is pretty fun. Mario Party 9, too. And then there is Pandora's Tower in the not too distant future. Not as robust as the others, sure, but quite enough to compliment the others. Oh, Kirby in November.

I love being in PAL land at the moment :)

I'm still playing games on Wii more or less regularly. There's a few really good games in the back catalog that I'm getting to now, like Shiren the Wanderer. Just got Rhythm Heaven Fever too.

The schedule is anemic from here on out, that's true, though Xeno and Last Story are of course big events for RPG people (in the US). If nothing else the Wii will get some hardcore usage between their release and Wii U.

Rhythm Heaven Fever, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, La-Mulana, Pandora's Tower, Fatal Frame II: Wii Edition, Monster World IV... as far as I'm concerned Wii's 2012 is already looking better than it's 2011 was.

Meh, I fire it up for Rock Band and MonHun and maybe some Mario Kart whenever the GF wants to race me but otherwise, I don't really mess with it too much.

Really hoping that the Wii U doesn't run into the same issue.

Recently I gave my Wii to my girlfriend, though I'll be taking it back in April to play Xenoblade. But after that, she can have it. I'll be purchasing a Wii U this holiday season and I'll catch up on anything I missed then (Last Story/Rhythm Fever).

Note: Recently = after I finished Skyward Sword

Xenoblade is constantly in mine, and I just finished Last Story a short time ago. Then we have the usual suspects popping in from time to time for some multiplayer fun. I haven't even tried Mario Party 9 yet even though I've had it for weeks. And then there's Pandora's Tower in a few weeks. Rhythm Heaven Fever is after that.

It ain't dead yet!

Nope, some (not all, of course) of my best game experience of the gen was on the Wii.
Unfortunately there were a lot of holes in the lineup that created months of emptyness (especially in the US, maybe. But I'm a PAL gamer!)

nope. still playing vc - mega man x just came out in europe, old games i missed, there's a few classics i like to replay regularly on it like galaxy and re4 and i'm looking forward to rhythm fever which they should hurry up and release damn it.

Look at the "Why your Wii doesn't have to Wii dusty" thread.

If if turns yout you've indeed played everything you wanted; there's Xenoblade next month and The Last Story during Summer..so shelve it until then?

:p

But yeah, there are many great games both at retail and digital form. The other day I went around IGN counting to see how many games I've played based on reviews etc. and it seems I've played over 150 games.
Similar amount on Xbox 360 and around 80 on PS3. Though as long there's one game on it that I'm interested, I like the console. :p

I've never permanently shelved anything. I'll replay Mario Galaxy, Klonoa, Trauma Team, DKCR, etc. for many, many years to come.

Wii (well, Dolphin) has become my primary platform since I got Zelda and Xenoblade around the same time.

After Xenoblade (if there is an "after" - just passed 110 hours)? Well, I guess it's back to PS3 for Journey, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza Dead Souls.

I have Wii Fit, so I usually boot up a physical Wii once or twice a month when I miss gym hours. It remains unplugged the rest of the time, however.

People who don't play their Wii don't have homebrew installed in it.
Playing a DQII Remake fan translation on your Wii does not count as Wii. :P

Nope, jut put in 3 hours last night on my Wii. Funny fact: the Wii is my only gaming device right now and it's hooked up to a 55" HDTV. Friends are giving me a tough time and even offering me to borrow their xbox or Ps3.

Nope. I still have Xenoblade and The Last Story coming. I also still need to play Donkey Kong Country Returns and finish up a few other games.

My Wii backlog is longer than any other system, including the DS. It's sad that there are less than a handful of upcoming releases worth looking forward to, but I doubt you've explored the entire library enough if you can't find a single game to play.

i will likely never buy another Wii game. i will be keeping my wii though, since I have a lot of Wii and Gamecube games i still like to play occasionally (that dolphin doesn't yet do justice). I won't likely switch it on until my in laws buy an HDTV and i take their Sony Trinitron 'off their hands' though... but that should be soon.

Yea i'm pretty much done with my wii and skyward sword.

I'm probably gonna end up selling both on ebay or something.

I've got the blue wii from black friday, and people were on ebay buying them for 120.

Same thing for the skyward sword controller bundle.

I had pre-ordered Xenoblade and fully expected it to be my Wii's last hurrah. I beat SS and then wanted a vita so I sold my Wii.

goodnight sweet prince.

good times..

New super Mario Wii
Galaxy 1,2
Zelda: Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Kirby: Epic Yarn, Return to Dreamland
Boom Blox

Pretty much this. Only reason I haven't been trying to finish some of these games is because my space and outlets are limited right now and I just got invested heavily in some fighters.

Rhythm Heaven Fever - only 30 bucks.

I got Mario Party 9 for friend and family fun.

Xenoblade, The Last Story.

Aaaand that's about it. Bring on the Wii U.

Yep, and it doesn't bother me one bit because Skyward Sword was the best game I played last year by some margin.

Though I did just buy Disaster Day of Crisis and Trauma Centre New Blood in the GAME sale, so those will be a laugh one day.

Would like to play The Last Story and Xenoblade but I just wouldn't put the time in.

Woah, didn't see you sneak this in there.

Mario Galaxy 1-2, Skyward Sword, Metroid Prime 3, Donkey Kong Country Returns, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Monster Hunter Tri, Shattered Memories, and Red Steel 2 would all be in my top 20 console games of this generation. Wii has a ton of good games that will be more fondly looked upon when we get past the graphic-whore barrier and everything looks like shit in 10-20 years.

I'm actually playing Skyward Sword right now (and loving it btw).

Then I'll definitely be playing Xenoblade and The Last Story when they come out.

I also definitely want to go back and pick up Donkey Kong Country Returns as I missed out on that one and then I sometimes think about getting Muramasa: Demon Blade.

After that, I'm ready to be done with the Wii. It serves it's purpose well. Bring on the Wii U.

My Wii's been unplugged and resting with my old consoles since around September. I still intend on getting Xenoblade and the Last Story for collection purposes, but I don't think I'll play the system again anytime soon.

No, though I've never "permanently shelved" any console I have owned.

Xenoblade is just around the corner anyhow, so wait up for it.

There has definitely been a drought over the past year but the system still has a ton of fantastic titles. If you had to "Dust it off" for Zelda there is a good chance you missed a lot of them. Plus, like everyone here has said, Xenoblade is less than a month away for Americans (and Pandora's Tower is a week later for Europeans).

I play my Wii frequently to play my Virtual Console games. I just bought Final Fantasy III(VI) and Chrono Trigger last week. Feels good to play those again on a TV with a THX sound system. It's a totally different experience as we just had a mono TV when I was growing up. So playing these games in Stereo sound with incredible bass and midrange is fantastic.

Rhythm Heaven, The Last Story, and Xenoblade are the Holy Trinity. After all those are released I'll happily leave my Wii to rest.

I was already upset that I had to turn my Wii on when RH came out because I already shelved it.

Oh and I guess I still have to play NPC Pikmin. Missed out on it on the GC but I got mixed up and thought both NPC Pikmins weren't out on in NA rather than just Pikmin 2

Waiting on Xenoblade and The Last Story. Been wanting to pick up Kirby: Return to Dream Land too.

I really just want to buy a ton of Wii Points and DL a bunch of VC stuff.
