Mass Effect 3 SPOILER THREAD: LOTS OF SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE

Googling has led me to nothing so far, but does it literally do ANYTHING?

All the crying about ios/multi can you/can't you get the best ending and the EMS means nothing? PERFECT in both the best and worst ways

If low, Big Ben blows up, soldiers get vaporized.
If super low, Earth may get scorched.
Depending on level, you get access to the endings. Depending on your range you may have one, two or all three choices at the end.
Shepard breathing at 4000/5000 depending on if IM executed Anderson or not.

Faster-than-light is not a speed, it's above a speed. Logistically, I can't see how you could travel faster than light, and still not be able to move as fast as via the relays.

Because the relays send a ship thousands of light years in a split-second. That's why they exist. They've vastly more efficient than anything the races have by the end of the game.

It's impossible to speculate as to what they could and couldn't do after the end point of the game. They've just built a device people have been trying and failing to build for a massive amount of time. Something the Protheans didn't manage in time. At the end of ME3, the galaxy has lots of access to Reaper technology, in some endings they have reapers, and geth with reaper code. I think it's wholly possible they could, within the context of the story so far, rebuild Mass Relays past the ending of ME3.

It's possible the races may eventually learn how to build them, but it wouldn't be for a very long time - probably on the orders of millennia. The Protheans ended up managing to build The Conduit but they were a highly advanced race and far beyond the Asari (as Javik amusingly likes to point out) and their scientists.

As far as the the Crucible, that had already largely been built by countless races beforehand. It was hardly just the work of the modern races. They just managed to take the final step, but they did it on the shoulders of those that came before.

Now every world are isolated, Earth is ravaged by the reapers. Multiple fleets are stuck in the Sol System. Good luck trying to find the stuff to build the realys.
How are they stuck? They still have superluminal travel. They are hardly stuck back with old Apollo crap.

I don't see the issue with that.

That whole Arachni storyline was completely useless. I saved her in ME1 with the thought process that she would have millions upon millions of arachni soldiers ready to fight the reapers when the time came. Nope, she manages to get imprisoned once more and I had to save her sorry behind again. Now instead of feared warriors I have arachni scientists helping to build the crucible. :^/ I should have allowed her to be executed.
Doesn't matter.

I killed the Rachni queen. Turns out, the Reapers have their own captive Rachni queen then.

Doesn't. Fucking. Matter.

It has little consequence on the storyline but I still like it as a subplot.

If you free that one, she betrays you.And she's not a real queen, she's just some sort of advanced husk.

Superliminal travel is about 5 to 12 light years in a day, the galaxy is about 100000 LY in diameter. And you see how much fuel the normandy blows going to near by stars in each cluster. Ships require fuel.

I don't think the soldiers get vaporized except at super low, we just see a bunch of stuff exploding. Basically the same as Good otherwise.

By the way, Penny-Arcade news update. Tycho at least doesn't seem to blow off the criticisms of the fanbase, he actually finds the indoctrination theory intriguing. No news post from Gabe though, but given the last one he's probably in support of the ending being just fine.

I don't see the issue with that.

I think we may be arguing about different things here. I don't think the concept of Mass Relays being dead at the end of the game is a bad thing. I think it's a cool concept and I agree that the races will just have to deal with FTL now. And for those races that can't find a suitable planet anymore, welp, time to take a page out of the ol' Quarian playbook. :P

Someone posted a quote from an ex-writer that confirmed they were stuck there earlier in the thread. FTL is still super slow. The game make it seems like it takes seconds to travel within a system but this is not the case. Even the codex of the game shows that it takes many days to reach somewhere at a few light years distance with FTL. The example the guy showed was that it would be impossible to reach Ilos without mass relays. Moreover you can't refuel anywhere, all major worlds are destroyed.

EDIT : Moreover the post credits scene confirms space travel is no longer possile in the future.

lol on my play through I don't think my shep says anything. Vega actually drops a few F-bombs and calls the reapers all kinds of names and tells them to "come and get some locos" or something like that. Steve died on mine as well, which was sad but I don't know how to change that outcome.

You have to play a male character and romance him. Not sure if you have to do the deed or not though.

I don't think you have to have sex with him to save him, but did you do all the encounters? all the talking, the memorial wall, the drinks at purgatory?

If you have low EMS, you can't get the green ending and if you have ultra low EMS, the red ending lights the Earths atmosphere on fire. Low EMS can also cause the guys you took to the final mission to end up dead after the reaper beam.

So 22 years from one side to the other. Doesn't seem like a big deal really. Fuel however, I don't know anything about how they handle it, so maybe that is the crippling factor.

Which scene? The only scene I can think of is what are seemingly humans looking upon what is certainly not an Earthly sky.

Sure it does. You get different dialogue and the husk betrays you.

Would it have been nice to see the rachni actually fight? Sure. But expecting more than that--expecting something game-altering--isn't realistic. We knew going in (at least if you played ME2) that a lot of the connections wouldn't be more than cursory links.

You had to talk to him and help him get over his husband. I'm pretty sure maleshep can do this without getting into a relationship with him.

Wait what? Rachni scientists? I killed the Queen on my 1st playthrough, so i missed that...

Is such a thing even possible?

I don't see the issue with that.

because it would take hundreds of years to get anywhere

and they wouldnt have the fuel to make that distance since the galactic economy is kind of

fucked

and no one would be doing deliveries exactly

literally a joke ending

lol that's not gonna happen, so in my cannon, steve is deader than a doornail. R.I.P. bro. I did chat him up about his ex lover, but I think I missed having drinks with him, and I missed the memorial.

Dam just youtube sheppard killing wrex in ME 3 i would feel disgusted to even make such a choice.

Wrex was my other space Bro.
It's why I could only do it if he were dead. Well, and the fact that while Wrex might still give into aggression or otherwise slip up Wreav is a verified asshole that'd make the Krogan a menace again.

You bastard. Steve deserves a good man. *tear*

At the end, Joker, James and Cortez walk off the ship. My new planet is being colonized by a cripple, a gay and a latino guido. I think they're going to do just fine without me.

You also can't run the FTL drive nonstop, they need to discharge after a while which can take days if there's no good place to discharge to.

Stop...Please stop

okay okay one more

Scene opens with an organic pod that has something in it moving. Hands break the skin of the pod and Shepard appears gasping for air. He falls onto the floor hunched over and looks up, at that point he notices that he recognizes his environment. The camera pans out to reveal Feros and the Thorian. An Asari clone helps you up, only saying "You're ready".

Okay, now Boiware can take it over.

The Rachni aren't stupid.

I'd love it if you could have a team of alien misfits: A geth, a krogan, a batarian, a vorcha and a rachni.

I laughed , I cried , I STILL WANT A GOOD ENDING SJXUDNZLFJ (NOT a face code)

It was hilarious when Wreav died in my game when his car crashed and Wrex is all "Ah, who cares. Guy was an asshole, anyways."

you dont need to romance him, you just need to finish his friendship arc i think

he lived in mine and i didnt hit on him or anything

I wanted to see monuments of my Shepard being put up on every world I saved, he didn't need to survive, but if he did a nice Buddy cop ending with my crew would have been fine as well.
Instead, I get cowardice from Joker fleeing the fight and crashing somewhere.

Fuel is the biggest problem; everything in the Sol System (and neighboring systems for that matter) is essentially depleted, as ME2 confirms. The Reapers methodically went for fuel depots first, as ME3 explicitly states. With how ultra advanced the Protheans were, all they could muster over centuries was the Conduit, which ME1 confirms is a one-way track and is not large enough to sustain ships. And what little clues there could have been in replicating the Conduit was either lost or severely slowed due to the Citadel's destruction/severe damaging when the Crucible fired.

Sure, we can speculate that the races can or eventually pull themselves out of this rut, but all of the facts that were confirmed in the games themselves point to the notion that the races are going to be screwed.

You are now banned from the Neogaf hugging network.

>>Choose Anderson as the council member

Udina is the councilor anyway

>>Destroy the collectors base

Illusive man has the baby reaper anyway

>>Kill the last Rachni Queen in the universe

The reapers has another one anyway

The Rachni aren't stupid.

I know, but they physically look like beasts. How can they do anything scientific? By mind controlling corpses? By communicating telepathically with other races for scientific ideas? I think i just answered my own question.
