I call this "Betrayal", a scene after the Normandy crash lands, feat James and Ashley...

I'm sitting here skimming through the weekend confirmed podcast, and just like every other game journalist, they are fabricating the complaints of the gamer's. At this point this type of false deflection has to be intentional. It's almost sickening how they just gloss over the situation like "oh those silly gamer's wanting the end to be just perfect". At least know what's being argued before you criticize a fairly large group of disgruntled fans.
Doubt half these idiots even played ME1.

apologies if something like this has already been done, I can't resist the opportunity to use loss.jpg

Edit: Apparently it's just from the trailer. Nothing special

Every time I read one of their "we'll answer questions about the ending soon" I feel so deflated, as I can see what the answers will be. That, coupled with Hudson and Walters intentions with the endings, are so depressing. Like, that's it for Mass Effect. They literally did not want the series to continue past ME3 at all, and did everything they could to put it in the most vague, ridiculous state as possible.

It's like their plan all along was to have their oh-so-loyal fan base fill in the gaps themselves. Like they believed fans would love the open ended ending and multitude of unanswered questions, as it would give them arguably limited resources to speculate with fan fiction, art, and forum discussion basically forever.

Well they gotta stay true to their reviews. Lol.

I'm okay with open ending games. As long as long as they are not to broad.. Mass effect 3 ending left everything too open for interpretations. Too many unanswered questions and not even enough material to answer 1

I fully expect their to be a Mass Effect 4,5, and 6. You can write yourself out of anything... and EA likes money.

I will pay them whatever they want for ME4, don't care. I want to continue Shepard & Co.'s story. Why does it have to be a trilogy. Imagine ME4 for next-gen......

Just retcon 3's ending and do 4 for PS4/720/PC release in 2014 or 2015.

Well beat the game a few days ago and waited to get all my thoughts together before i said anything. Don't really have much to add to this conversation though. I liked the game, but hated the ending. What really annoyed me is that all endings are pretty much the same and that any choices you made though out the series didn't have much effect if any on which ending you got. All that matter was that EMS(I think it was called) stat.

With that said though it wasn't the worse ending I could imagine. I guess the best way to put it is that it really didn't make the hours I spent on ME1, ME2, and ME3 feel like they lead to a worthwhile conclusion. That ending raised more questions then it answered and those are always my least favorite endings personally.

More or less do to that ending and now that the trilogy is wrapped up the Mass Effect series is put along side the Dragon Age series in my book. In that any future games will most likely be rents not buys if I decide to play them at all that is.

I think that is my main issue when reviewing Mass Effect as trilogy. I think the games are damn good on their own. But I think Bioware's trilogy vision was poorly executed.

All the ME games have moments of greatness mixed with glitches and shitty game decisions and designs. The universe they created was the biggest selling point for me. I hate they never used Shepard's Spectre status much after the way it was presented in ME. I also hate they had canon LI. It was such a slap in the face to spend the time working on a perfect save only to realize all that work and sacrifice was pointless(Miranda I am looking at you). Those complaints among a laundry list of issues made Mass Effect as a trilogy VERY unsatisfying.

As do I, but I don't believe BioWare wishes to 'continue' the game universe and deliberately (and destructively) wrote themselves into a hole. Hudson said the plan is for future Mass Effect games to take place during or prior to Mass Effect 3.

Mass Effect 4: Invisible War.

All three colored explosions happened. Shepard controls the Reapers into destroying synthetics which in turn makes everyone into organic/synthetic hybrids while simultaneous not killing synthetics.

Who was the Canon LI? I never read any of the books if its in there somehow. Is it in the game? Did I miss something?

I do agree with the Spectre issue. Probably my biggest issue I had with the series. Such a cool concept that was way underutilized. When I saw the Spectre Room in the Citadel I thought I was going to get some cool missions and meet a lot more Spectres. Seriously, why weren't Spectres a war asset?

Or are they and I just missed something again?

Anyways, Spectres were criminally underutilized imo.

I can understand the argument that they are tired of that particular character and don;t want to have to write or create a universe around him/her anymore. While Shepard is a blank slate those around him are not and having to write those characters consistently overtime is going to get more and more troublesome. The bizarre thing is why lock yourself to a timeline of 30 years for games in your franchise.
