Ghost Recon: Future Soldier Beta Thread of key begging

Some quick impressions:

It's actually pretty good, as far as gameplay fundamentals go. Shooting feels great and moving between cover once you finally get the hang of it - and it does take a bit of practice - is pretty nice. My brain is in extreme GoW3 mode, though, so while I can see potential in the cover system, I also think that it's a bit weird. I dunno. I've been spoilt. It just feels a bit too automated sometimes.

My main gripe is that it's hard to know what the fuck is going on half the time. The objectives need to be more in your face and better explained. And it really is a team game, so prepare to get steam-rolled a lot.

Also, I sincerely hope that the menus and visuals in general get a good polishing. Everything screams "ugly". The actual gameplay visuals, thankfully, are the best part, but everything else is just hideous to look at. Shocking fonts, blurriness, horrible colours... Sometimes I just don't get designers. Hopefully it's just beta stuff.

So far the only objectives consist of capturing a point, and then defending it. Unless I'm missing something.
 
PS3 BUG

Just found out the hard way. If you spend a bunch of points on your weapon, and then leave the gunsmith screen, you'll be asked whether or not to save the changes.

I had second thoughts about running with an LMG... so I choose not to save.

Well... it removed all the mods, but I lost all my points as well. :(

So now I have no points to spend (which I'd been saving up) and my rifles are vanilla. I have to restart the character.

I fucking hate unlock systems.

Your bought mods are still unlocked, no?
 
oh please, this game comes out next month. if anything this a hard to get D-E-M-O

Well, it's definitely not the final product, but how close this is to release quality is a concern regarding the bugs.

RS did say they will be supporting the shit out of this game post launch though.
 
Liking the beta... stuck under the map currently...grenades fell into the abyss..... any ideas for suicide?

EDIT: all my squad mates spawned on me... lol
 
Never been a fan of tiny maps... hopefully retail game has some classic-sized outdoors maps.

And some no respawn game modes.
 
Omg... lol... I have no idea. I didn't think to look. Deleted my character and started a new rifleman.

I am a dumb shit. haha :(

because i had the same thing happened to me i accidentally pressed the wrong button and all my attachments where gone in game but i could still select them when i try to mod my weapon.

I do give them some props though for having fixed that PS3 issue so fast yesterday, so there's that, but the game has some fucked up shit.

Buddy said he saw a guy crab walking ala Gears 1 and laughed his ass off. Most of my issues aside from the lock ups, are user interface issues at best I think.

Like who's bright idea was it to make right stick clicked into zooms you into first person even if you are in third person and not holding left trigger? I've had several moments where I try to hip fire quickly and whip my reticle to stay on them, then it goes into ADS and I'm fucked. :/

Pipeline is a laughably bad map. The spawns for Bodark is a joke and super easy to get camped in lol.

Quit gripping your controller so hard. Same issue happens in Halo if you do it (you zoom in). I've actually used that aiming mechanic to go from cover to instant aiming.

That's gonna get abused to hell and back when it catches on.

I think their solution for this is to introduce "alternate" spawns (heh) .. though they seem to appear at random ....

Historically speaking... even for games with long dev cycles... betas take months to prepare and are almost always built on much older code.

But I agree, Pipeline is a terrible map.
 

They need to make it a map that's more than 10 sq ft. lol. I swear to god, an entire third of the map is just the run from Bodark spawn to two chokepoints that the other team can camp from every angle.

I mean... I don't like small maps to begin with. But if you have to do it... 1) they (very small maps) are incredibly hard to balance if designed asymmetrically and almost never work and 2) at least allow both sides to get into the fight in equal time. Bodarks have to run down a damn runway and then through a nasty chokepoint before they can even engage. And worse, the Ghosts are given access to high ground from a concealed position. The Bodarks need to round a corner, completely exposed to get high ground.

August. As for this build I think a better spawn camp solution is needed like spawn swapping or some such thing.

People here care. The lead dev in question stayed home to play and experience the same thing everyone else experienced.

And I can also assure everyone that this is, indeed, a beta.

Are the other classes going to matter in the final game?
Cause honestly right now the rifleman is so ridiculously overpowered. Also whats up with all the grenade spam?

Game is tons of fun to play but some things are completely out of whack im terms of balance.

You can get out of spawn from 2 ways on that map, but they are within like 20 feet of each other, so you can just have one person on cover on one side, and another at the other, then just pick them off as they have to come out lol.

Camo isn't that effective imo, so trying to sneak out/past people doesn't work because of the shimmer you give off.

A possible third path out would fix the map I feel for Bodark. Say, an underground middle path that connects to the upstairs area with two sets of steps you can climb, leads to that room that connects to the walk way.

Or, does the game swap spawn areas if the other team can't get out? That could also work.

I really don't have a kung-fu death grip on my controller, but even on 2 separate pads I will from time to time hit in the right stick. Happens in CoD too, but at least there it's a melee.

Not a big deal for me in Halo since it's already a FPS, but when you hip fire in a TPS, then go into FPS as you are trying to stay on target/lead them, your reticle can't keep up with how fast you need to move it to stay.

Not a major issue if the game supports full control customizability at launch to just let me tinker around and find something that works a bit better for me.

It's a shame this thread started as the OT for the beta, but mod fucked it up by changing the title to "of key begging," so it auto snowballed from there.

Just Switched my display settings to 1680 by 1050 and OMG, does it look 10x better :)

Heck, i Will do some quick first impression

+ Love the Gameplay,Pace and general feel of the Gunplay/Weapons
+ Map are greatly designed and loving the alternate routes
+ controls are unique and feel very mobile, very refreshing something GR can call its own.
+ Gun & character customization is through the roof but the UI is kinda messy to navigate
+ Very Team oriented game, going lone wolf is fun but you will have the hardest time capturing the objective as people dont have any mics on :(
+ love the spawn system and re-spawning on team mates in GR actually fits
+Stun Gun....so satisfying.

-Framerate is discouraging, it can dips alot.
-Lag can be pretty bad and the host selection process isnt any better
-Recon grenades have a huge radius and dominate in small maps


Played this with the missus and we had a blast, she hasnt played since GRAW2 & actually picked up the controls really quickly. we are both sold on GR:FS :)

The dev team should be proud, they accomplish something that alot of other company's fail at when making creating Multiplayer. GR:FS stands on its own two feet and separates itself from the competition, its has truly created its own Multiplayer Identity and experience.

Very impressed and look to put more time in to test some of the imbalances.
 
How do you restart your character?

You start with three characters. If you want to reroll... they let you from the top character menu. Hit square or something.

Funny story: I restarted my rifleman... but the Ghost version still had all his weapon attachments equipped. They are locked in the gunsmith menu. But I'm running around with them. Bodork dipshit is vanilla though.
 
Don't want to start an inverted/ non inverted thing, but why would they leave that out? I honestly wouldn't even play this game if I couldn't use inverted.

Due to the emphasis on teamwork, this game reminds me of Unreal 2 for xbox (in a good way). Looking forward to picking this up. I am optimistic that No Respawn Siege will make it in as a playlist. I am also hopeful that there will be No Respawn Recon mode as well.

The Rifleman...
I was hipfired from accross the map a few times last night. Some of them were really bad- like just hipfire spraying and they got me. I see no reason to use any other class, but I have been running ENG with a shotty.

For the DEVs:
Will the ability to remove the scopes on the sniper rifles (for an attachment point if necessary) be an option? This would be awesome.
