At first glance, SMG2 was "just an expansion". NSMBWii was "the DS game with rushed multiplayer". SM3DL was "not SMG and not NSMB". All those turned out pretty damn good. If at first glance, NSMB2 is "more of the same", then I'll take it.

I would kill over if it supported 4 players in some way. I really loved that aspect of the Wii game. Some serious fun playing that.

Yep, fact of the matter is I loved them. More is a fantastic thing to me, and the masses of others that will buy it. I dont have a problem with someone else not being a fan, just don't get upset if I dont have the same tastes as you. Deal with it.

It's been roughly 24 years since SMB3. Bringing out a number 4 now would probably confuse those not aware of the original three. Wouldn't be surprised if Mario Bros 4 was more of an internal name for this game.

Jist of it was "I love it cos the crap art style means we can get loads of similar looking mario games fast!!!"

I want 1 mario platformer every couple of years and each one vastly different and vastly better than the last....like they used to be!

I don't want this boring Flash series. It's only benefit is big sales for nintendo and pushing 3ds sales.

Yeah NSMB was good, light-hearted Mario entertainment, NSMBWii quite a lot better with playful level designs, more challenge, more to do. Hopefully this takes it even farther in the crazy level department. Don't care what Mario looks like.

NSMB was a quality game, but nowhere near the older Mario games in my opinion.

However, Mario games of all sort just fit portables so fucking well it's already bought.

Flash = soulless bland art style.

Look at that Mario 3esque screen shot....they took something timeless mario and made it look like a fan project complete with peache's castle in the background.

When the Mario 4 rumors came out, I thought Nintendo had moved on and realised after 3DLand where they should be going, but I was wrong!
 
Seems very lazy. I like the fact that the P-wing meter is back as it means the level design will have to change but on the screen-shots they showed, you can see the terrain is pretty much flat and the world themes are the same AGAIN. Change at least that FFS! NSMBWii was a huge improvement on the DS version, so there's still hope, but this being on a handheld...wait and see.

I still would much rather prefer a 3DS version of Mario Sunshine/Galaxy, but this looks decent...I guess. Hopefully the music is better than NSMB's was.

Kinda disappointed, though. Tired of NSMB -- now I'm expecting even less from the Wii U version.
 
So as usual, 3D mario and Kirby gets all the risks and production value and NMB gets the "let the level designer play with old assets" treatment... I didn't like the level design of the two first (feels too forced, not mario for me) so i'll probably pass!

Is it me, or does it looks like almost exactly like NSMBWii? Holy crap at the laziness of Nintendo. Dunno if I'll buy it AGAIN.

I'm just sad that after a decade of no 2D mario....we got this.

It's like SMW and Yoshi's ISland never existed. The best goddam mario games are forgotten and SM3 is just raped for shits and giggles to keep the hardcore happy.

On a side note, has anyone thought about the implications of Mario 2D launching in August?

Pretty all of us were expecting it to be scheduled for November/December, on top of that now we know Animal crossing will be out in October, so now it seems there are potentially several other big unannounced games for 3DS that should arrive by the end of the year, we only have to wait till E3 to know what tricks Nintendo has got in its sleeve.

They are really packing the year pretty tightly. I suppose I shouldnt be too surprised, but still, theres a lot coming this year that I want.
 
Hopefully the Wii-U Mario is something absolutely fresh and amazing looking. This kinda sequel makes Mario games feel entirely played out to me. Looks like theyve just re-used previous backgrounds. Terrible.

I think a few tears need to be wiped away!

I was a fan of NSMB, despite how little of a challenge it provided, so I'll be there Day 1 for this.
