I've heard you guys talking about post credit scenes, and also mid credit scenes. Are there both? Or is there just the one scene in the middle of the credits?

Captain America is a really likeable character. The first half of that movie really makes you like him, and the ending basically leads right into The Avengers.

ALSO, I don't know how the hell I forgot to mention this, but when we all watched it, everyone in the theater laughed at the
end when Stark says something along the lines of "we should all try that new shawarma joint"
!

EVERYBODY knows what that is, it's basically the equivalent of fast food in Syria, so it was hilarious that
he mentioned it
, and a nice coincidence for us. :lol
I didn't know what "shawarma" was but google tells me its nothing more than a... kebab? That stuff is the food of drunks in the UK. Please don't tell me that's something new and exotic in New York. That would be hilarious.

WAT?

That's not true.

He'd miss a good movie, and oh yeah, it leads into The Avengers.

Why would you skip the only worthwhile, must-see movie leading up to The Avengers? It's also the one that ties in more closely to any other.

It has a decent first half and that's about it. And it doesn't really establish anything important enough without an understanding of which would detract from the experience of watching The Avengers. Manos was asking what was required viewing to understand The Avengers.

That seems like terrible advice. Why would you skip the movie about the First Avenger? @_@

Because there is no such thing as an Avenger in the Captain America movie. The Avengers explains his role in the team well enough.

Yeah, watch Captain America. It's pretty darn important with the Cap origin story and stuff about the tesseract.

Also it's a great movie, even if there are a lot of montages I still like it a lot.

Thanks to the sale at Best Buy, and trading in DVDs to get those 5.00 coupons, I got Thor (3D), Iron Man 2 and The Hulk for 35.00. This completes my collection.

I think my currently feeling is something like:

Captain America >> Iron Man > Thor >> Incredible Hulk > Iron Man 2

But I enjoyed all of them. Marvel Studios has done a good job of keeping true to the tone of the comic characters and providing an interesting story in each movie. Some ended up more successfully executed than others. Captain America has the best tone and is the most fun in terms of being a unique adventure introducing a cool hero. The rest are fun too. Incredible Hulk suffers from being kinda TV-movie-ish but I still liked it. Lacked ambition though. Iron Man 2 had ambition but is kinda muddled in pacing and had a weak conclusion. The race track scene was awesome though.

Leaving now, will return with Avengers impressions later. :D

I think she'll be able to enjoy the films without seeing the prior films. The film has a fair bit of dialogue that explains the characters origins and motivations which really sound like they're written for the audience unfamiliar with the characters.

I saw it with my wife, who has seen practically all the Marvel movies with me (except for the first Iron Man, which was before we met). She's not at all a comic fan/geek (although she loved the 1st Iron Man movie; and Thor and Captain America for the leads) but she was laughing and clapping along with the rest of us. This movie is something special. You guys are going to love it.

Honestly, I haven't been this excited post a superhero movie since TDK. Not in the same league, mind you, but they are both great experiences.

Awesome, this makes me even more excited for Saturday! I love coming out a movie were we both enjoyed what we just saw (Muppets, Kung Fu Panda 2, First Class, Crazy Stupid Love, etc.) because it stinks to come out and be met with a "that sucked" (Grey, Cabin in the Woods, etc.) while you actually enjoyed it lol.

Edit: for me it is Iron Man = Iron Man 2 > Thor = Captain America >>> Incredible Hulk

Overall I think Iron Man is the best film, but Iron Man 2 is just wall to wall fun (in a good way). Both Captain America and Thor start off awesome-ly, and though Thor declines a bunch in quality in the latter part while Captain America has a strong ending, I enjoyed the characters of Thor a lot more so it's a bit of a toss up. The Incredible Hulk is awesome for the first 20 or so minutes then pretty much sucks for the rest.

They MIGHT be filming a post-credit scene for the US release, based on some rumors we've heard, but as-is there is only a mid-credits scene.

No way! It's chicken (or beef, but usually chicken), sliced up into very thin pieces from this big rotating thing and then put into either a sandwich or spread exotically on a plate. I eat it all the time, i'd kill if it caught on in the states. :lol

A lot of the good places for it are closing down actually in favor of more trendy food.

That is exactly how it is presented in the UK... as a kebab. Only the meat is completely tasteless in the fast food places here.

I look forward to hearing your impressions, as your ranking is exactly the same as mine (well, I might switch the last two, but not 100% on that either). Captain America is just such a fun, feel-good movie with a great love story and ending. The last line actually tore at my heart a little. It sucks that the Avengers doesn't seem to have much of a real plot, but it's understandable that they'd rather just focus on character development and interaction rather than advancing plot. I suppose the bigger plot stuff will be saved for the sequel.

Thought I should post these, since not very many people seem to know about them, and they're some amazing posters;

Those are the largest I could find, I would totally plaster some of these on my walls if there was a way to buy the physical posters or something. I wonder where to source of these posters comes from..

Hahaha, eww. Even here we only eat the chicken version. Kebab = this, basically. But I guess the beef shawarma can bee considered kebab to some, though if you're not eating the chicken one you're doing it wrong imo. :lol

Summer finally shines upon cinemas in North America as “The Avengers” takes center stage next weekend. Expect a massive haul of over $150+ million with eyes on Harry Potter’s prize: $169 million.

Hmm. Gitesh also thinks that 1B WW is very possible.

They range from very good (Iron Man) to good (Thor) to poor (The Incredible Hulk) to bad (Iron Man 2) to Green Lantern atrocious (Captain America).

Only IM1 and Thor would I ever watch again, and IM1 is the only one I own.

I liked the first 20-30 minutes of Captain America. Everything else is pretty bad. When they started going into the weird weapons and the futuristic looking soldiers it really goes down the drain. Nevermind the awful villain and horrible montage and really terrible train sequence with the death of a character I honestly didn't care one bit. Really lame, uninteresting characters in the film. Captain America is honestly below Incredible Hulk for me. One thing I'll say for Hulk is at least while watching it I never felt like wanting to leave the theater/room.

And yeah Avengers ties with Thor the most by far, although it's interesting how all four heroes are tied into the movie's main set up somehow.

I watched Green Lantern on video after hearing about how bad it was, and even going in with low expectations couldn't prepare me. Just a mess of a movie. Even Mark Strong couldn't save it.

You'll get no defense of it from me. But Cap was every bit as awful for me. Two of the very worst "blockbusters" in recent memory.

Yeah was good stuff, 3/4 for me. Wasn't enjoying it until Thor showed up and after that when everyone was together it was fun. RDJ killed it, Ruffalo and Hulk were awesome, Hemsworth is the perfect Thor and Scarlett was good as well. Not that impressed by Hawkeye, Chris Evans and Sam Jackson didn't have much to do.

Good fun.

So how much thus far did The Avenger's did in terms of sales internationally? Was it like $360 million?

I believe it's more like $175 mil. Which is exceptionally.

There are three international markets it hasn't opened in. A big one, Japan, won't have the film until August.

I am glad to hear such glowing reviews and impressions.

I'm looking forward to seeing this with my buddies.

Edit: Man Captain America is a real divider of opinions isnt it? I was let down when I saw it in theaters but enjoyed it much more the second time when I saw it on DVD with my friends.
