Breakdown of Fresno's Edwards theater midnight screenings in which you can see there are no 2D showings...
uoZi7.jpg

There are 9 2D showings in that pic between the 3D IMAX and 3D.

Nope.

Remember Sculli said it was hard to even find a 2D showing of a big release at midnight.
Huh, I just bought a ticket. Sculli isn't God.

IMAX 3D $18
2D $11.50
3D no IMAX $15

I don't think theatres have twelve 3D projectors going. That would be pretty expensive.

Oh my .. I cant believe people can do this.
I would hate to have cleanup duty after that. People would also smell really bad after being in there a long time.

Turns out i'll be watching it this Saturday instead. I'd rather see it with wait a two days and see it with friends than with my little nephews. :p

Hopefully that means for certain we'll be able to see the new TDKR and ASM trailers.

Looking forward to GAF consensus, my predictions are:

people who like Iron Man at least and dislike Captain America will like this movie

people who like Captain America will love this movie

people who dislike Iron Man will dislike this movie

people who like Fantastic 4, get the fuck out

So I will like this movie according to your theory.

people who like Captain America will meh this movie

people who like Fantastic 4, get the fuck out
Fixed, based on what GAF has said so far. (Basing it on their ranking of Marvel movies after their meh reviews)

From the sounds of it, it's better to see it in 2-D.

Should I stay till after credits (is there an after credits scene?)?

Are you going? I cant even imaging sitting through 12 hrs of non stop movies .. plus the moving I'm mainly looking forward to is right at the end.

Dont want to watch Avengers with movie fatigue man.

Iron Man just finished. It's super casual and a party atmosphere. People are hanging between movies. Cooler than I thought it would be. Feels like new console camp out night!

Is there any 3D? I think my eyes would bug out after that much.

Also would probly take a break during Iron Man 2.

Everyone expects the sequels to the standalone films (Iron Man 2, Thor, Cap) will ride on the success of the Avengers, but what if audiences actually begin to identify these characters first as a group, second as an individual, and so this actually negatively impacts Iron Man 3, Thor etc?

Tickets were slim so my group had to go with IMAX 3D tickets. Would have preferred 2D but we're too amped to wait.

I'm mostly looking forward to Cap and Hulk and it sounds like the movie delivers with Hulk. Hopefully Cap gets enough time to shine as I really like Evans in the role.

Fans of Evans' Cap should leave satisfied. I did.

That won't happen because the movie doesn't ever establish that they're a group, simply a bunch of individuals who are sometimes needed to stand together. Just like in the comics!

If you like Superheros.
You will love this movie.
Every "cool" thing you saw these characters do in their solo movies gets trumped several times over in this one movie.

Very satisfied here too. Captain America -> Avengers is solid progression for his character and is very much pitch perfect imo. I really hope they deliver with the final progression, which will be Avengers -> Captain America 2. How he grounds himself into the world on his own and how he integrates into SHIELD is going to be really exciting to watch, and they better not fuck it up.

Why? He wasn't half as charismatic as he was in CA. Dude looked and sounded like he was trying to hold in a giant shit while reading off of cue cards the whole time. Easily the worst part of the movie not named Nick Fury.

Like the comics, these characters still have a lot of individual stories to tell that don't really need the rest of the Avengers. What they need to do is shape it just like the comics do. Use the individual films for character development and showing us more about these heroes' individual struggles, and just use the Avengers films as huge action-packed cross-overs. They really just need a simple reason to get together and smash shit for 2 and a half hours, and the foundation can be laid in each of the individual films.

Just saw it. Loved it.
More so than any other Marvel movie, this one felt like a true comic book film.

This makes me so happy! I can't friggin wait for the midnight show! Today is my birthday. So about 25 of my closest friends and I will be having dinner together then walking across the parking lot to the movie theater. We're even going to have people dressed up in costumes with us. It will be an amazing nerdy experience. So glad the film seems to have turned out well!

Latest tracking (for domestic) is that it's outpacing SM3 which opened to 151M. Still everyone keeps saying 150M+ mainly because we'll get a better idea of the weekend numbers when the Friday estimates come in.

I assume you bought your tickets before hand.

I don't believe you...

I don't believe you because if I did, my hype meter would explode.
Cap is fast, strong, uses his shield a lot and in inventive ways. Shows he's an expert in hand to hand.

Thor... fucks shit up, flys around liberally, really feels like a demi-god.

Iron Man uses cooler gadgets and better smarts than in either of the movies.

Hulk..... Dude. Hulk smashes.

Hell even Black Widow and Hawkeye do plenty of cool shit that feels relevant to their skillset.

I leave the theater very satisfied and again it shows why Steve/Capt. is my alltime favourite character.
How he handles the leader role and as a very competent strategist and as a simbol of determination without being a super beign like the Hulk or Thor or having the technology of Stark. And of course the whole "Hulk, SMASH" order, got me giggling like a schoolgirl

Iron Man using Cap's shield to deflect his energy beam, awesome
