So are we in agreement that Hulk completely owned this movie? He had the best action sequences AND the best comedic sequences. That part where he and Thor stand side by side after a big fight and Hulk
punches Thor all of a sudden
caused an eruption of laughter in my theatre. People were losing their shit.

I also really liked Angel up until the last season when I felt it also lost its legs too.
U B Crazy. The last season is the best season of Angel. So many great episodes & moments (
the puppet-episode, what happens to Fred, everything Spike, Chordelia's final episode, THE final episode
).

Yeah, Hulk completly stole the movie, even my theatre (normally really reserved crowd) went crazy after those scenes.

If only I had any idea who that was :lol

I had a lot of fun with The Avengers, but I think you've gone right mad with your rankings, Solo. It doesn't belong with the upper echelon of superhero movies. Better than TDK and X2? You cray cray.

I said it in my original review and I'll say it again. It's the Oceans 12 of comic book movies. It nails the banter, interactions and the 'fun time out with the fellas' vibe whilst also getting some shmick looking action on screen. So it's a damn good time at the movies.

But as a story it completely lacks any sense of stakes and the narrative that has been put in place to give us all the fun is absolutely garbage. But like I said, that is okay because you end up just rolling with it for the fun. But the writing in the story department really holds it back for me and I could never put the film alongside the really good comic book films for the sole reason that I was never emotionally invested in it.

I don't know how to take that

Captain America is the best Marvel movie, yet you hated it. Thor was decent, but nowhere near as good. I'm pretty sure you enjoyed Avatar too, despite it being a terrible movie. I've found that at least 75% of the time, my opinion of movies is the opposite of yours. That goes even more so for Sculli. Therefore, if you enjoyed the movie this much, I'm inclined to believe that it's very unlikely that I'll enjoy it all that much. Honestly, I'll probably go see it anyway since I've been anticipating it for so long. I guess we'll see.

Edit: Also, Spider-Man 2 is decent but nothing memorable. For me, Captain America > Iron Man > X-2 > X-Men > Thor > Spider-Man > Spider-Man 2 > Hulk (Ang Lee) > Daredevil > Iron Man 2 > Spider-Man 3 > The Incredible Hulk of the Marvel movies that I've seen.

It's all about tone. Just like S-M2 and BB/TDK totally nailed that tone of their worlds, so did The Avengers.

Avengers is one huge rolling ball of FUN. It's possibly the most perfect tone ever achieved on film for a comic book movie which isn't trying to be anything other than a crazy FUN comic book come to life. Kinda nuts.

I liked Spider-Man 2 a lot more than you although I really haven't seen it since it came out, so who knows what I would think about it now. I generally consider it the best Marvel movie from memory, but I did think Captain America was arguably the best pre-Avengers movie (definitely better than everything except maybe Iron Man), and the rest of your rankings are pretty close to mine.

I thought The Avengers was fantastic.

Your opinions are pants ;).

Spider-Man 2 > Iron Man = Avengers > Spider-Man > X-2 > the rest aren't even worth mentioning.

Yeah, and I can't express enough how good of a job Whedon did getting each character (well, maybe not Hawkeye, but who cares, Renner stinks) copious amounts of interaction, things to do, and "badass" moments. And the team dynamic felt really authentic. Every character had justice done to them.

Its weird, because I HATED (and shall continue to hate it in the future) all the Avengers shorehorning in the character specific movies, and yet without that........this movie doesn't work half as well.

LOL I still think all the Coulson shit was lame as hell.

Especially when they try to get you to buy that all the members of the team really gave that big a shit about him.

Captain America is a fucking awful movie. Belongs in the shit tier with Fantastic Four 1&2, Ghost Rider, Green Lantern and all that other trash.
F4 is shit (especially 2), but putting it with the likes of Green Lantern, or even Ghost Rider, is crazy.

They should just skip the character-specific movies outside of Iron Man and just do Avengers movies.

Thor 2 will be ok if they do more space stuff, and an HBO alumni is directing it so I'll give it a shot. Captain America 2...LOLZ no way I'm getting tricked into that again.

And personally, as good as Hulk was in Avengers, I'm not sure how well he'd work alone on his own movie. We've already had two misfires with that character. I liked Banner and Stark's relationship in the movie, maybe he could be a secondary character in the Iron Man pics, although I have no idea if that jives at all with the comics.

Also, you should probably see this as soon as possible because the GIFs are gonna be a-flyin' all over the internet by tomorrow. So much
Hulk smash
material for threads.
